This filter worked wonderfully at first, now I noticed my fishes aquarium is not nearly as clear as it was in the beginning. I followed instructions and cleaned the filter several times. It’s just never worked the same. Don’t recommend.

I purchased this filter to replace an old Fluval U4 that I purchased 11 years ago and it was a big mistake. I have a large tank as my turtle is large and needs the space to swim around and this filter could not keep the water clean; within 3 days, the water got murky, and within a week, it was impossible to see anything and it stank. I kept trying to give it time to work as described, but it never could, so into the trash it went and the Fluval was brought back to duty. The filter is probably ok for fish, but definitely not turtles.

I was a little skeptical buying this uv light water filter. But was amazed by the difference it made! I used in freshwater 5.6 gallon tank. It was kinda big for it but it fit!
Was having an issue with alge bloom after only owning my tank with goldfish a month. I did realize that it could be the factors of over feeding and too much light. Even though we were only feeding a few flakes a day. Now we’ve gone to feeding every other day.
Anyways, after using the uv light we noticed a difference within 4 hrs. The next day was way better. Within 2-3 days the water was clear. This pic is a week later. Crystal clear! Going to turn off and then back on in a week.
Maintenance says to clean uv light but in don’t think it opens up to wipe down.

I have been struggling with an algae outbreak in my aquarium for 7 months. Talking to the owner of a local aquarium shop and he told me to get this UV Filter and my problem would be gone in 5 days. While skeptical… I have tried so many other things so I did it. HOLY SMOKES…. he wasn’t lying. I think this is my first Amazon review but I just had to share because this filter has completely blown my mind. The photo progression is from day 1 – day 4 (haven’t even made it to day 5 yet!!). I’m completely stunned as to how well this thing has worked. If you are struggling with Algae in your fresh or saltwater aquarium, do yourself a favor and just get this NOW!!! My aquarium is 55 gallon but I got the 75-300 gallon filter on the recommendation of the local shop owner who told me to get the “next size up”. The flow is pretty high, but my clown fish don’t mind and I actually think it’s going to be perfect. I’m telling you, this thing has looked like pea soup for months, and now it’s dang near crystal clear in just 4 days. Unbelievable. I don’t care if it only last a few months (I hope that’s not the case), it was well worth the money just to solve my problem.
This won’t clean up the algae on the rocks and glass, but it WILL make your water clear if that’s your issue.

Out of the blue, my tank turned completely green. Emptied it scrubbed everything filled it up, three days later green. Did some research. Read the reviews and bought this filter. The first one came with the bulb, not functioning. Not surprising since it’s packed in a regular Printed box, but then was thrown in an envelope mailer to be delivered. Packaging would’ve saved it. However the second one, the company was kind enough to send a replacement, worked like magic! I swear I saw a difference the following morning, and as the week went on it got clearer and clearer. Now my water is so clear. It looks like no water in there like it’s just glass. This is an excellent filter. I highly recommend.

How do you know if the light is working? How do you turn it on? The switch I received looks different from that in the picture in the booklet and I can never remember if the line or the circle means “on”.
Otherwise, seems to be working fine.

I’ve seen a couple questions about how to know if UV is working. The flat line is UV on; circle is UV off. If you look at the filter, there will be blue light on to let you know if UV is on/working.
Arrived quickly. Easy to put together. I haven’t needed the UV yet but works great in 100 gallon outdoor fish bowl. I would buy again.

Using in my turtle tank.. has cleared up all algae problems and keeps the water crystal clear . Easy to use and set up. Easy to clean filter.. instructions aren’t the best but that could be my typical male problem with instructions. Only had it in place for a couple weeks.. I will update when I know more about durability.
