I’ve only had it a day, so time will tell. But my first impression is WOW!. I have a 55 gal deep tank, the dimensions being about 22x22x30. I’ve never been real happy with the amount of light the original florescent gave. The bulb finally died, and it was not a lot more $$$ to buy this LED than to get a new bulb. This LED is so much brighter than the original hood, even if I don’t set it to 100%. I like the different brightness settings and the 3 light settings; moonlight is cool looking at night. The ‘timer’ settings are a little weak, but this isn’t an expensive light. Basically, you turn it on and pick 4, 8, or 12 hours. It is supposed to turn off after that time, and then turn on at the same time the next day. Trying it now so we’ll see. There is no way to set it to turn on a few hours at 1 brightness, then maybe at 6 pm change to moonlight, and then at 10 pm turn off. You would have to spend a lot more money to get something like that. For now I’m happy with what I got for the price.

Took me a bit to learn to program. Works great and I love the multiple lighting levels!

I just got this light and put it on top of the glass on my 20 gallon tank. Super easy to set up! I haven’t messed with the timer as I have a routine for turning things on and off. I turned it to the highest brightness and my poor fish freaked out! I wasn’t expecting that, but someone else mentioned that so I turned the brightness down to medium and he relaxed immediately. Before I had the old fashioned tube LED but it seemed to be getting dim. I was surprised at the new improved LED lights!! Someone said the light heated up the tank but at the end of the day it was still cool to the touch. Really happy so far 🙂

After fooling with so many broken aquarium hoods, seemingly planned for breakage and obsolescence, I looked for a new light. Reviews claimed even the more expensive models had no dimmers, no timers, but what a great surprise! Multiple beautiful light scenes from dark to very bright, and a timer that ideal. 2, 4, or 10 hours seems limited, but 10 works for me. I set it every day and let it go off. The worry I had with LEDs was that the plants wouldn’t do well, but time will tell, and brightness can be lowered. For $22, I just bought another!

Seemed pretty bright and was hoping to use to grow macro algae in a miniature 5 gallon marine Refugium type tank. I got a little bit of growth right under the light, but parts of the plant just a few inches off center did not grow and started to die. You might be able to use two of them for better coverage- obviously significant PAR drop off must happen outside of a narrow angle. Note I had the light resting on the tank with the included tank rest. I have replaced this light with an AI Blade for freshwater and it is significantly brighter and spread looks better so I’m sure better growth will come. I will reserve this light in case I ever do a fish only nano- it would be great for that and is very economical.

So far so good great price point and the Spectrum looks good. I like how you can set the intensity. We’ll see how long it lasts.

We have a really old 10 gallon fish tank. There is a spot underneath the lid where I guess you could buy replacement lights. But it’s so old I couldn’t find any. And we need a tank top, we have kids and things are kind of flying all around all the time and I didn’t want anything to fall in the tank. So my husband altered our tank lid and attached the light to it. It’s so great! I bought one other light before, and it was so dim and dreary. This one is perfect. I’m a little ADD and haven’t figured out the timing thing, I’m not great at reading directions, but even if I have to turn it on and off every day, I would buy it again and again.
