I had gotten a new computer, this is my favorite game. When I went to download it from my library it was not available. i ordered it again but when i went to download it require me to go to another site and create an account to retrieve my product. I shouldn’t have to do that and i will not. I ask for a refund a week ago and have gotten dead silence. To make matters even worse when I checked my library I have paid $7.50 for it and this time it was $29.99 for a product I can’t enjoy! I will not purchase another software product from Amazon!

This is still the best Civilization IMHO.
More complex than Civ 5, and lets face it, if you like Civ, you probably have a mind that loves the complex. Better gameplay than Civ 5. Leonard Nemoy voice work and Baba Yetu are icing on the cake.
The only real problem I have with Civ 4 are the “Stacks of death”: The computer sometimes masses large amounts of military units, more than most sane people would make…. But that is why artillery exists >;}
This version is Steam compatible, and that’s a good thing. I never have to worry about finding my game disc. If you want to play offline, use offline mode. It’s not rocket science.

This used to be a great series of games. However since STEAM has gotten involved, you cannot play off line, I cannot take my game with me in the car on long trips when the wife drives, no creative cheat codes, and if STEAM does not condescend to allow you to access YOUR game, you are out of luck. The game seems “buggier” with STEAM, The only reason it does not get one star, is that I did it to myself, I ordered it, I downloaded it and regrettably I paid for it. Unfortunately you cannot return it. It had been a while since I had downloaded a STEAM required game, and I had forgotten the sheer misery of it. The Total War franchise did the same thing, and I quit playing those games as well. Lesson to me, never, ever get a STEAM required game again, download something to my tablet and play there…. Also each turn the cities seem to “forget” what they were building, and I have to go back into the City screen and remind it to build something. After cities are attacked by Barbarians, and taken they seem to develop a civilization of their own, and I can’t attack them for whatever reason.

I was expecting it to be more like Civilization Call to Power. Somewhat disappointed, but that’s probably my fault for not doing research. It’s a great upgrade from Civ 2.

This is the second time iv had to buy this but its just as worth it now as it was then, this is by far the best civ game iv ever played, you can build your own maps and edit everything with ease and the scenarios are fantastic and you can get alot of good mods for it too, if youve never played a civ game before and you wanna try it id strongly recommend this one

I don’t know what to say about this game. I’ve been playing Civilization since I was a small child, starting with Civ II. I’ve played II. III. IV, and V. IV is by far the best of them. All the game mechanics come together perfectly for the most epic playing experience. In my mind, this is THE definitive version of Civilization, the game of Sid Meier’s Civilization in its Platonic form. It’s an older game but if you’re reading this review and you have an inkling of a desire to run your own country, buy this game.

I prefer this version of Civilization over all others.
