The lyre was beautiful and has a nice finish. However, the first string I tried to tune pulled the tuning pin hard enough that it bent down and the wood gave way. The bass string won’t stay tuned.

There’s something to keep in mind when you buy this lyre. It’s not mentioned in the product description. And not everyone will catch it. It has to do with the tuning, I’ll explain in just a bit. In the meantime, I’ll just say that we’re happy with this instrument. My Wife plays the guitar, I think what she loves about the lyre is that it’s so much easier to take with her. It’s convenient to bring it outside, play it on the patio or porch while she enjoys being outdoors. She can take it in the little carrying bag to a friend’s house. There’s just more flexibility in where you can take it.

The lyre itself is quite beautiful. One thing that my Wife was pleasantly surprised with was the transducer it came with. So just like her acoustic guitars that she can hook up to an amp, she can actually connect the lyre to an amplifier as well. It definitely needed a tune immediately. My Wife has a particular app for tuning that she uses, so we didn’t need to use the one recommended by the manufacturer. Now, here’s what you need to know about the tuning….

My Wife found that tuning this lyre wasn’t a one-and-done type deal. She tuned it immediately. Then tuned the day after. And then tuned it a third time. Very gently. After a few days, the strings finally begin to settle. And then the lyre holds a tune much better. If you tune it just once, you might assume that the instrument isn’t holding a tune very well. It will, just give it a few days.

So we’re glad that we ordered this. Keep in mind, my Wife is a novice at this instrument. She’s a guitar player, first and foremost. So if an advanced player of the lyre offers some feedback on this product, I’d say their review would carry more weight than this one. Although I’d like to think that most lyre players would look at this instrument favorably. Especially considering it costs much less than similar ones.

First everything functions as designed. My only complaint is that the holes at the bottom where the strings are fed through during the stringing of the instrument are not drilled evenly and are misaligned. I also would have loved to had seen this area with a brass plate which the string eyes could have rested on instead of lying directly upon the wood on the back of the harp. This doesn’t take away from the harp it’s just a personal preference I have understanding the damage string eyes can inflict on bare wood even wood as dense as mahogany. I shall fashion myself one from brass shim stock to eliminate any future damage to the area the eyes directly touch. The tuning pegs at the top are not consistently 90 degrees and some slightly lean however the spacing at the top is very consistent and provide ample space even for my large man hands. The maple bridge unfortunately has a very unsightly over sanded flat spot making the bridge look very unclean and out of place between the two different color wood finishes and it’s very apparent a mistake was made in the area. Now the sound quality I have no complaints with what so ever and definitely sounds very beautiful to play. The storage bag was very dirty and covered in lint and dust as well as the lyre itself but with a proper cleaning that’s resolved fairly easy. As with any stringed instruments it takes about two weeks of playing to get the strings to mature to the proper note retention and afterwards with normal playing stays tuned for an appreciative amount of time. Now for the price you can’t go wrong and it does play pleasantly I just wish the craftsmanship could have been better because this instrument does deserve a 5 star rating but I feel I scored it fairly based on what I received. With all this said yes I would buy this again and have the intention of purchasing the solid body lyre harp from aklot as well. I just wish the craftsmanship could have been on par as I stated this instrument deserves a 5 star rating, their production team just needs to be more consistent and careful. Hope this fair and honest review helps to make your decision to purchase this harp. ✌🏼

La harpe est belle et le son bien mais elle est difficile à accorder et se désaccorde facilement car les cordes ont été coupées trop près des attaches. Il a fallu mettre d’autres cordes. Depuis, le son est stable.

I have never owned or played one of these but it’s a fun instrument to play and has a nice sound. The downside to this is that the tuning is very finicky and it really does need to be tuned quite often. You have to have patience when doing this because it’s very sensitive.

This lyre is a beautiful instrument. The wood is beautiful and I love the ornamental engraving around the sound hole. As the stings adjust, it is beginning to hold it’s tuning well. I tried a few tuning apps and had great results with one called Instrument Tuner on the Play store.
It arrived very fast and overall, I am very happy with my purchase. It also comes with a nice gig bag, extra set of strings, tuning wrench and a pickup! Well worth the money.

Excellent sounding instrument and feels high quality. Sounds great paired with an acoustic guitar. Easy to play even for children. The only challenge I had with this lyre harp was tuning. It is easy to over and under pass the correct note pitch and took me some practice to get it in tune. Luckily it stays in tune for a while and sounds beautiful.

Absolutely fantastic instrument! I fell in love with the sound of this Lyre and I’m really impressed with the quality and what you get for your money.. the lyre has excellent sustain and it simply feels great holding it, very comfortable. The set comes with the lyre a transducer for amplification which I was really impressed with. Watch the accompanying video. You also get extra strings a tuning wrench and a soft case. The case is the only part id like to see improved upon, I’d like a little more protection but it does just fine. Finally, I found tuning the lyre to not be a problem at all. I simply stretched the strings as I was bringing the instrument up to pitch and in no time it settled in nicely. I highly recommended this set if you are interested in giving this gorgeous sounding instrument a try!

The strings are very cheap and I was not able to tune the instrument. I realize that it is a cheaply made instrument but not being able to tune it is what made me return it. I would not recommend this instrument unless you are an experienced musician and work with them for repairs. I wish I could say more positive but it is what it is.
