This has become an absolute life saver for my tank. Something in my tank caused my cycle to crash and this has helped so much with restarting my cycle, and quickly. Absolutely does lower nitrites/nitrates quickly and safely enough for me to have added my fish back to finish fish in cycle

Don’t see this as a cure all for poor water maintenance. If you have Ammonia and Nitrite at anything but 0 reading and Nitrates anything above 40 or so then you may get short term satisfaction from this stuff, but the issues will soon reappear … and likely worse. Take care of your water and don’t over feed.
Personally, while I no longer use it, I did use this on and off for many years. It is a good water conditioner, i.e. for adding to tap water before introduction. I see it as a before adding fresh water to the tank liquid, not an ‘oh dear, I have a problem’ so think about use afterwards thing.
This size scores badly for me because the value is abysmal. Get the larger sizes. You can get big bottles for silly money compared to this 118 size. Really poor. Go larger. You need it long term after all, every water change.

I’m already familiar with API. We use the
API Fish Coat which was recommend by our local (and very large) independent aquarium suppler,
which I recently discovered can also be bought on Amazon too; the suppler said they use it in every one of their fish tanks when they add new fish including their most valued fish. I researched it and its very popular. Their fish seem to flourish and they rave about it’s qualities.
We too used that product in our outdoor garden fish pond when we added our fish, and also whenever we change the water.
We don’t have a filter in our pond and the fish totally rely on our young son’s diligence, care and use of the correct products together with regular water changes to help the fish stay well.
This for us, in our circumstances – with the lack of filter – is the perfect solution. A little goes a long way, requiring only 1ml per every 38 litres of water.
It neutralises ammonia from droppings, removes chlorine and heavy metals, and keeps our pond in optimum health. I have used this since we acquired it, we’ve not changed the water since it snowed – the surface froze hard enough for our cat to go for a skate on it.
After which, the heavy gusts bought along a lot of leaf debris, we’re hoping that using this will alleviate the buildup of harmful ammonia and PH levels that come with the breakdown of debris and other contaminants.
The real test will be in summer, as our exposed pond gets the morning and afternoon sun which causes the water to develop green algae. With the continual use of this and because it comes from a trusted brand, I am confident that our small group of pond fish which seem to be growing faster than expected, will continue to flourish too.

With 10% weekly water changes and carefully monitoring water parameters, things were going smoothly for months until, all of a sudden, the nitrite and nitrates increased significantly enough for me to worry about my RCS. I bought this product and used the recommended higher dosage in an attempt to reduce the nitrite and nitrate levels. Within 24 hours after the treatment, I measured the water parameters again, and both nitrite and nitrate levels decreased to a much more comfortable level. I am very pleased. Thank you!

I have received this product to review on behalf of Amazon. It arrived promptly and well packaged.
After initially thinking this would help with keeping parameters of my tank in good condition, I soon realised that this isn’t for that type of thing.
I never just use a chemical in my tank without first looking into it. This will zero all your parameters, and as such is no good for a tank that is cycling or indeed have an issue in your tank. For me, the only thing I use this for, is to condition tap water whilst on a water change. That said, even with that I had to be very sparing with it.
I’m not sure that I would get this again, purely for the fact that I wouldn’t normally use something to just zero everything. This can cause more problems than it solves.

I have to do regular water changes in my black moors tank as he’s getting quite large and I have to keep on top of the water changes. This water treatment is easy to use with clear instructions for each water change. It has a measuring cup on the screw top lid which is great for not loosing it. It’s worked fine so far and my fish seem fine with it.
Overall it’s made by a reputable brand that’s been around for a long time and they know their stuff. It’s certainly good for looking after your fish by making sure your water conditions are OK.

This water conditioner is awesome! I had been struggling for weeks with ammonia in my aquarium, even with frequent water changes. After starting to use Aqua Essential, adding a dose every 24 hours, after several days my ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates are all at 0 ppm. I use this along with API Stress Coat+ I will continue to use this product. I like the fact that you can see the results on the test kits (API Master test kit) and it has a more pleasant smell than some other products I have used. I would definitely recommend this product.
