I have used api in the past and have been fine but these leave a horrible smell after putting them in the tank makes the hole living room smell disgusting and fish don’t seem to be all that keen on them
Nuria –
Encantada. Es la comida que más le gusta a mà cÃclido y me costó menos que en una tienda de animales y encima el bote grande! Recomendable
Mindy Wasson –
Can only find these here. It’s the only pellet my parrot fish will eat!

My cichlids love to eat this API cichlid premium floating pellets.. Contains No fish meal so it’s an ECO friendly fish protein, it has shrimp meal, Spirulina algae and carrots helps enhance their colors and help with digestion. It has a blend of insects, earthworms, mussels, banana, vanilla and seaweed meal, pea protein to aid in digestion. It also has yeast, garlic and vitamin C and E for support their immune system. The water seems to be cleaner, clearer longer and the water is less smelly and now almost no smell at all. I also notice less fish waste on the bottom of the tank. There was big chucks of fish poop before when I fed the other brand. I also feed my bottom feeders(catfish and plecos algae eaters) the sinking API algae veggie disc but my cichlids love to eat them too, so they are getting more veggie in the diet too! Great deal for this size can, fast shipping!

We have an oscar fish that apparently is picky about his pellets. I ran out of these earlier and tried several other (more expensive and seemingly higher quality) brands, but he would not eat them…so back to API it was. Now he’s happy. 🙂 Amazon has a way better price than the brick and mortar pet store near us, so I guess we’re sticking with this.

When I ordered the product I made sure it was floating small pellets. The container says floating but when I put them in the tank they sink to the bottom and stay there. Confused why this is happening
May Wu –
My Texas cichlid loves it. I tried to switch to a different brand which floats better ( my fish eat very slowly) but he refused to eat, so switched back to this. The pellets are smaller than expected and some sink but not a big deal as long as my fish loves it.
Jeri Evans-Graff –
I have one cichlid who won’t eat anything else!
I love buying stuff –
Used to only buy the good stuff by Hikari. Figured it was too expensive for fish food.
Tried several kinds of cheaper brands and API seemed to be the best. Doesn’t break apart fast and cause a mess. Best of all, the fish love it.

I had been using the “Large” pellets, which float 100% of time, and my cichlids go after like they’re piranha… The smaller fish however can’t just swallow them, have to try and take one to area of tank so they can be away from the bigger fish… so not ideal…
Ordered 2 of these and they are super tiny, and the damn things sink like a rock… the cichlids barely can get at them as they fall, with 90% hitting the bottom and I think the cichlids are just ignoring them, so now I have cichlid food on bottom of my tank going untouched…
I need to go back to the Large “actually floating” pellets, my bad…
