As a pump it works great. To improve: the valves are not easy to disconnect. It does take work.

So…got this for a 75gal tank for one red eared slider. Tank is 3/4 full. We started with the spray bar but that only extended to about four inches from the top of the tank (I looked for weeks for an extension bar to make it lower to no avail). This was very noisy due to the pressure/distance. We also had to drain and refill the entire tank weekly which is a drag because I had to do that with the $45 filter and WTH…. So we finally tried the polishers which has been tricky to position but so far the tank is going 18 days and we only had to rinse those outer filters. The unit itself is not loud and runs very efficiently however because of the gap in water level it’s very noisy. It sounds like we have a fountain running 24/7. Wish there was an option to make it quieter. Thought about adding rocks below it but I haven’t found anything that won’t take up a bunch of space and still be sturdy. Advice welcome.

It’s quite, has good suction and puts out plenty of water.
We have a turtle, they’re messy little things. Getting a filter that can manage their bio-load isn’t easy. After doing months of research I decided on the Aqueon 400. It’s not the cheapest filter but nowhere near the most expensive either. It does It’s job and does it well. It’s quite, powerful and moves a bunch of water. I couldn’t be more pleased with it.
It was fairly easy to assemble and get running…as well!

Update again the new one arrive and it works amazing so much space for adding filter media. I am using a water polisher unit with the spray bar. The water is so much more cleae. %100 recommend this filter. Wish I could choose another shipping company tho pretty sure they broke my last one. a new one was shipped to me will update once it arrivesSuper super disappointed finally got the filter only to see a huge crack up along the side of the filter there is no way I can use this

My aquarium pump prayers were answered with the Aqueon. Easy to set up, cleans well, and very quiet. Worth every penny. Highly recommend.

I like the fact that i have 3 options for the water return. Normal return, spray bar and 2 hang on back filters for extra filtration.
As you can see i’m using the HOB filters which is eazy to clean and maintain.
You can customize as you wish, spray bar + 1 HOB filter etc.
So far my 100 gallon tank is crystal clear and the filter is performing well beyond what i expected and it’s half the price of the big brand names.

Where to start. So upon opening it everything looked good until I got to the intake and output tubes. I noticed some broken plastic parts in the bottom of the bag it appeared to be the water diffusion part so no big deal I can call and get a new one, then I noticed the spray bars were broken as well. Not going well here. So I figured I could just use it without the diffuser or spray bars. Could not get the thing to prime and when it did run for a few seconds it was spewing water from the top of the output pipe. It was not sealed at all. There was no epoxy or sealant holding it together and as soon as any pressure hit it water burst out of the cracks. So option 3 was to bypass the spray bars and the output pipe and use these hang on the back of the tank polishing units. So now I am still having issues with it priming seems to be sucking in air………..yes the darn intake tube was also not sealed so the thing was sucking in air and well there was no way I was going to run a secondary hose into the tank to bypass another broken part. Yes I could have done the vinyl hose direct to the tank and that would have allowed it to work but I didn’t purchase this to have to become a plumber and have to rig it up to work. Over all the quality control is apparently done by monkeys but that is most likely an insult to the monkeys. I had owned an Aqueon in the last and had no issues but this time it is clear they have gone downhill. I do wanted to like this filter with the multiple baskets for media and the high flow rate but there are just to many broken parts and poorly made items for me. I am worried something else will break while I am at work and I will come home to a flood. So do yourself a favor and buy something else. I am not the only one who had issues with the pipes either. Someone posted pictures of my exact problem. OVERALL AVOID THIS PRODUCT.

The filter is a bit finicky to assemble but it works extremely well and is very quiet.

Massive upgrade over the Penn Plax 1000. This is a large heavy cannister filter. It’s whisper quiet. Comes with all the filter media , bio balls, ceramic rings and sponge. 3 large media trays which you can add your own media if you wish. Cleans water beautifully. I am impressed. Build quality is great. Multiple configuratios are available with spray bar and two polishing units. Comes with Y adapter and extra hoses. Hoses are a larger diameter for more suction power. It suits my needs and I really like it.

Well. It looked good but getting the prime was a royal pain. Why in the world would they NOT have a pump button to fill. All the “extras” with this and they can’t add a priming button? Good grief. Good water flow though and I do like the long output that I can span across the back of the tank. For me those 2 output canisters were just a waste of $$ since they don’t fit between the wall and the tank. Not emptying my tank to accommodate them.

Works great at filtering 100+ gallon tank & is super quiet!

The water sound is a little loud but boy has it cleared up the fog that was in there and gotten rid of the turtle smell! 10/10 this filter is great

I bought this as a filter for my upgraded 90 gallon tank for a big red-eared slider.
If you have a turtle, you know how dirty they can get; they can muddy up their water in minutes.
So I set up the filter according to the directions, but I opted not to use the hang on back parts as the water level in my tank is not to the top and I don’t want to hear the water flowing from the filter into the tank all the time.
The water stayed clear for a couple of days (of course it was fresh), and although the filter was capturing the larger particles, but the water was still cloudy.
I’m quite experienced with water filtration for turtles, so I bought some poly fill stuffing (the kind that goes into pillows and stuffed animals; it’s super cheap and a great alternative to commercial filter pads).
I have my canister set up with the bio balls and ceramic beads in the bottom basket, then the charcoal (out of the bag) with the sponge on top in the middle basket and the whole top basket is poly fill.
It made a world of difference and my water is crystal clear now.
I will have to rinse out the poly fill once a week or so, but it only takes a minute.
