I’ve use other aquila strings before and am generally a happy customer, but on the 1st tuning, before even reaching then proper pitch on the C string, it broke!!!
Very disappointing!

C is floppy, A is almost too tight. i use the g and d strings though

I play a lot of different instruments, and I was honestly about to get rid of my ukulele because it wasn’t very inspiring or fun to play. But these strings turned that around, I find I pick up my ukulele and play every day now. These strings change the ukulele tuning to that of a viola/cello/mandola, and increase the range significantly. With the lower strings, it sounds deeper and I find it much more pleasant on the ears. Highly recommended.

Plenty of length for a baritone scale ukulele. I had no problem getting them tuned up to CGDA. They sound great. The third and fourth string are wound. I play mostly 5ths tuning and there is only one other company that puts a set of strings together for a baritone and are twice the price. These sound just as good. I’m very pleased that I gave these a try. These are installed on a 1962 Guild Baritone all-mahogany ukulele.

Not often that you tune an ukulele in fifths, but this gives the opportunity to enhance the ukulele and achieve better compatibility with the mandolin and violin families.

I wanted to tune my concert uke like a mandolin, because I miss playing my mando. These strings seemed like the perfect answer to my problem and they were great!
That was until I went to tune the E string. I’ve been tuning a uke for several years now and I know nylgut strings need to stretch. But I’ve never had a string break so easily. It wouldn’t even get close to tune before it broke.
I’m disappointed. And I’m willing to give them one more shot before I call it a failed concept. But I feel like I’ve waisted $10.

Nice strings with a good warm sound and a great feel. For some reason the two wound strings tend to oxyde really fast and need frequent replacement. I’ve used a lot of classical guitar strings from other brands and never had a proble like this, but the three sets of aquila strings I used did that. Combined with the fact that they are more expansive than normal strings, I don’t think I will purchase them again.

I use these on my soprano ukulele (CGDA) and baritone ukulele (tuned to GDAE) and they sound great. The only issues I had was that some of the strings required a few days to settle. These strings are heavier gauge than your standard ukulele strings so you will need to press harder.

This set sounds pretty good.
For other choices of strings, a luthier told me you can use classical guitar strings also (ProArte, etc). Guitar strings will tune up at a higher tension than this set does, especially the C string, if you prefer this. The C string on this set has a lower tension, but it sounds fine.
Here are the luthier’s measurements of the AQ-31U:
A, 1st String, nylon – .021
D, 2nd String, nylon – .030
G, 3rd string, wound – .027
C, 4th string, wound – .033
So any classical guitar strings that are close to these gauges should be worth trying.
I did have my C string’s (4th string’s) nut slot filed larger to be able to accommodate a .042 gauge string, so I can now use a Guitar’s 6th string if I wanted to.
