My new Asus gaming laptop didn’t come with an optical drive, and I had some info on discs that I needed. Sticking with Asus, I decided on this little portable external drive, and it was a great choice. It works well, although it feels a little flimsy, reads quickly, and seems a good value for the money. It came with all of the necessary cords, and they were just the right length for use. All in all, I’m satisfied with this purchase. I can’t speak to its longevity, yet, but based on my use to date, it seems like it will last.

I was able to get access to MRI and X-Ray images obtained from a clinic without any issues.
A reading noise did not bother me but if you use the disc drive for a long time of period, it might be a bit annoying.
The disc drive did not work when I connect the cable to a docking station. It worked good when I reconnected to USB type A port in my laptop directly.
This is probably the best disc drive available on the market.

Works well great even. I had to replace my DVD Burner I had over 10 years for this one. Hopefully don’t gotta replace this for other 10 years.

On the positive side – it worked well with my mini Mac. It was straightforward – I connected it through the USB-C port, and it worked without needing to install anything. It’s also very small, and I appreciate its simplicity.
On the negative side, the package was not in the best condition. The box was slightly broken, and it seemed it had been wet with some soapy substance because it showed water marks and tiny soap bubbles on the external drive. It also seemed stained from the incident. I considered returning it, but I kept it since it worked well. The last thing – because it’s so small, it’s flimsy. The whole structure moves when you put in or take out a disc.
One last note: When I tried to play a DVD, it had those awful region restrictions. I disabled the Apple video player as the default and started using VLC, and all my DVDs work.
