Es un excelente producto, relacion costo beneficio, compre 2 unidades , su programacion , se puede realizar de forma manual o por pc , hay muchos videos en youtube que explican las funciones del menu y programacion de canales, este equipo no es para escuchar bandas de bomberos policias etc , es recomendable agregar canales libres FMS Family Radio Service, permitidos en mexico usa etc, y las demas frecuencias para la escucha o recepcion , excelente equipo para iniciar en el mundo de la radiodifucion

Technically not a GMRS/FRS radio, but it can be unlocked easily and is good to scan with. It is basically a portable ham. Hard to beat for the price though.

and he absolutely loves it! He uses it everyday, all day. The battery lasts all day with no problem. Programmed in local police and fire for him to monitor (disabled TX capabilities). Cheaper than a scanner and works just a well (well for what he needs to listen to locally). Used these radios in the past for ham radios, good entry level radio. Use CHIRP to make programming even easier.

Advantages: very low price, compact size, easy to operate. Has most of the features of the more expensive Baofengs, though not all. Virtually disposable. Not waterproof. A great go-to radio for EDC or private FM listening. Unlocks easily to TX across the VH and UH ham bands and beyond. Disadvantages: sound quality not as high as the bigger Baofengs, but for a pocket-size, SHTF, or grab-and-go transceiver this is the one to have. I have two UV-5r’s and highly recommend them as starter radios for newbies. I also have some much more expensive Yaesu HT’s but my dozen Baofengs get more use because of their superior features. Short learning curve – but don’t wait for a crisis to learn how to use it (or any other emergency gear).
