I would definately recommend this item to someone who is looking for a great juicer. We are new to juicing and so we had no idea what to do and where to look but after doing alot of research and comparing juicers in-store and online and talking to some people, this is the one we chose and i am so glad we did. It is awesome…does exactly what it is says it does. It is a very strong and sturdy machine…its a bit heavy but it doesnt take up alot of room.
And the fact that it has two settings…one for soft veggies or fruit..and one for harder veggies or fruit is great. It comes with a hand book to help out if you are not sure what setting to use for which items you are juicing that day. The cleanup is so simple also and that helps alot..clean up actually takes about 5 minutes in total…rinse with hot water as soon as you are finished juicing and the stuff comes right off and they send a brush along to help scrub a bit if you need to. The handbook also includes recipes and ideas for juicing if you are new to it. I hope this review helps some ppl to decide on the juicer that is right for them. and as far as ordering on amazon..i would highly recommend this also..we ordered on a thursday morning and it was here (ontario) friday afternoon and the shipping was free. Everything was so easy and hassle-free.

I absolutely love this juicer. I have had it a couple of weeks now and it works great. It is very easy to assemble/disassemble and it is very easy to clean. They provide a little brush to clean out the fine mesh filter and this works great and takes very little time. It says you can put it in the dishwasher, but I never would. It cleans so quick under tap water that I personally see no need to risk clouding the plastic. The juicer is very well made and sturdy. The parts are stainless steel. I think this is well worth the upgrade over the less expensive model that is made with plastic parts. The juice made from this is great. It handles hard and medium items really well. Softer items like spinach are a bit of a challenge. You need to roll up leaves tight and sandwich them between harder items to get the best result. The juice tastes fantastic. It doesn’t heat the juice up so you get all of the nutritional benefit of cold extraction. It does take up a fair bit of counter space and you need lots of overhead clearance to move the food plunger in and out of the chute. But, the juicer is functionally attractive and is not an eyesore. I have had no problem with leaks or clogs. I am glad I chose this model.

I have not owned any other juice machine but after doing my “homework”, I was hoping I made the right choice.

All I can say is this is becoming more and more fun with less time to clean up. All parts do clean very easily, and actually that’s the easiest part. For me my preparation of all the fruits and vegetables is mildly time consuming, even though I know you can throw things in there whole. Somehow the thought of little stems, seeds and tiny pits going in there don’t thrill me but I’m starting to overlook those things now.

I have made some incredible pitchers of juice, at times using a large combo of fruits and at other times, using less combos of fruits. I have learned that when I toss in small things like blueberries, blackberries, small carrots, etc., I must quickly cover the top with my hand before they fly out of the chute all over the place. Yes, like I said, it’s a learning experience. Large chunks of fruits and carrots (only vegetable I can tolerate juiced thus far) make an awesome drink and my kids love it too. I have been experimenting with the choice of items in chute and the speed at which things are juiced at. There are 2 speeds: higher and lower. I have made many little mistakes along the way, from causing a huge mess with juice overflowing out of the container and down the cabinets, to stuff flying out of the top and staining my wood cabinets. I have gotten much better at this. The other thing is this can become a very costly addiction…..I spend a fortune on organic fruits and vegetables and in a flash, $50-$75 worth of fruit is in one small to medium pitcher! The amount of pulp that goes in the garbage is scary looking.

Cleanup takes about 10 minutes total. Be sure to put a small garbage bag or a plastic bag in the container that catches the pulp or it will be a messier cleanup for sure.

The only thing I cannot acquire a taste for is the green juice. As much as I eat only organically grown fruits and vegetables, I just cannot get green juice down my throat. I know it’s something that has to grow on you but I think I’d rather eat raw veggies anytime than drink them. I keep saying I’ll try it again but I get weak thinking about swallowing that stuff! Ugh….no one can honestly say it tastes really good unless they have no taste buds. The fruit drinks on the other hand are absolutely fantastic. I guess it’s all personal taste and to each his own likes and dislikes.

I am not disappointed with this machine at all. It is not cheap though but I hope it lasts a very long time. It is beautifully constructed but it does take up alot of counter space and it is tall than the bottom of my cabinet area so I have to put it alongside the cabinets, next to my sink area, but that’s okay. It looks really attractive and sits near my other neat machines, as I do have alot of counter space.

If you are patient and willing to do a little cutting and cleaning up, you will not be disappointed. My total time preparing, juicing and cleaning up my mess is 30 minutes from start to finish and the container lasts me 2 days, if I’m lucky and I can hide it from my family!

I prefer the Vitamix, even though the Vitamix is not a juicer. This is the best juicer made for home use. Well made, and well constructed. It has two speeds. One for hard fruits and vegetables, the other for soft fruits and vegetable. The red button shuts it off. It is easy to clean. I highly recommend it.

Okay, I am going to revise my review.

Before you buy a product, the most important reviews to read are the ones that rate a product the lowest. I have only used my juicer a dozen times. Fruits and vegetables are expensive, so the real cost of a juicer is not the juicer but the cost of stuff you put into it.

I personally had no problem using the this juicer. I thought it made juice quickly. I didn’t have a problem with juicer leaking like others here have.

After reading the one-star reviews, I conclude the following: Breville has poor customer service. This machine only has a one-year warranty compared to much longer warranties given by other manufacturers. Some people like the cheap $90 Jack Lalaine juicer better than than this one. Some people have a problem with the spinning, cutting disk getting dull after very short use.

I bought this juicer to make a drink called “Happy’s Special” sold at Julio’s Juice Bar and Natural Foods Emporium. The drink is made from carrots, beets, apples, cucumbers, celery, spinach, ginger, and garlic. I would add parsley, a splash of lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste. I juice the beet stalks. This juicer does a good job making this drink which I really can’t make in the Vitamix. I add ice to the Vitamix when I make Happy’s Special. Julio’s adds no ice, and serves it warm.

I learned you have to add the garlic and ginger in a shoot full of fruits and vegetable or they will shoot back up the shute or shoot into the pulp container without being juiced. I find that my pulp is relatively dry. I wouldn’t use this juicer for juicing soft fruits like blueberries or tomatoes. I think the Vitamix does a much better job on these.

Here are some other recipes from Julio’s:
    Valencia: Carrots, beets, and oranges
Happy’s Special: Carrots, beets, ginger, garlic, celery, parsley, spinach, and apples, cucumber
Cucumber Summer: Cucumbers, pineapple, and celery
Immune Zoom: Carrots, beets, celery, ginger, garlic, lemons, and oranges
Clean Sweep: tomatoes, pepper, carrots, celery, and dash of tabasco sauce
V-6: Carrots, beets, celery, spinach, tomatoes, and parsley
Ruby Red Juice: Carrots, beets, and celery
Green Goddess: Celery, parsley, spinach, cucumbers, cilantro, romaine lettuce, apples, and limes
Fantasy: Beets, carrots, kiwi, and blueberry
Happy Days: Carrots, beets, and apples.

Julio’s use a centrifugal juicer to juice carrots, and maybe beets. I am not sure about the beets. He pours the carrot juice (or carrot-beet mixture) into a Vitamix. Then adds the rest of the fruits and vegetables. Whole oranges, apple quarters, pineapples, and blueberries should be “juiced” in the Vitamix. You can even juice a certain amount of carrot in a Vitamix. It is just that carrots (and most likely beets) have too great a ratio of fiber to juice.

I would only juice the carrots and beets. You probably lose too much expensive fruit and vegatable in the Breville.

I would “juice” the apples, pineapple, ginger, garlic, spinach, and cucumbers in the Vitamix. I think you can juice celery in either machine. I would chop the celery up into one-inch lengths before I added it to the Vitamix because it is stringy.

I feed food into the Breville as slowly as I possibly can. The faster you feed food into a juicer, the less efficient it becomes. Just because you can juice a dozen carrots and a apple in a few seconds does not mean you have to do so. I wrap one of my hands around the Breville plunger to prevent my other hand from feeding food too quckly. I literially feed in food as slow as I possibly can, allow the blade of the juicer to do all the work. Remember slower feed means more juice, and less waste.

Google Julio’s Natural Food Emporium to get a list of their great smoothies. I especially recommend their: Tantra, Planet Energy, and Wai-kee-kee
