This is easy to use and works great. I love that it’s self-contained and does not require an app like some other label makers do. Love it!

I used this label maker to organize the dresser in my nursery and I love how easy to use it is. There are many options as far as style and font size etc. it’s quick and easy to create any label. I haven’t had any jams at all. The text prints very clear.

I don’t know why I haven’t had one of these all these years. My daughter swears by P-Touch to organize and I use masking tape and a Sharpie LOL. Anyway, the menu system is pretty straight forward, but read the manual first. Print quality is outstanding and if you buy OEM tape cassettes, the adhesive is just about perfect. I’m glad I have it now.

I recently picked up this Brother P-Touch Label Maker, PTH110 to help me keep track of electronic components while I’m prototyping or running experiments. I’ve always struggled with reading those resistor color codes, and squinting at the text on transistors just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Slapping on a label turned out to be the perfect fix, especially when everything’s spread out on my desk or on the breadboard.

I went for this model thinking my needs were pretty basic, was I surprised! This little gadget has become my go-to for way more than I initially thought. It’s super user-friendly, although a tad bulkier than I expected. Honestly, though, that’s hardly a bother.

Here’s what I love about it:

It’s budget-friendly. It doesn’t break the bank and still falls on the affordable side compared to other label makers.
The labels are laminated, making them super durable. I’ve found that the label quality really depends on the label brand you use, but that’s no biggie.
The print resolution and font variety are just spot-on for what I need.
It handles 6mm labels perfectly, which is great for the smaller stuff I’m working with.

    A few hiccups:

Using the 6mm label tape can be tricky if you’re not working on a flat surface. It tends to jam, which means I have to keep it on my desk while printing. Not a huge issue, but worth mentioning.
It runs on 6 AAA batteries. I haven’t had to change them yet, but I’m keeping an eye on how often I’ll need to. Might look into getting some rechargeable ones.
It didn’t come with batteries or a wall adapter, so be ready to pick those up separately. I did find it odd that Brother’s own adapter has reversed polarity, which seems like a ploy to get you to buy theirs. Any 9V DC adapter with at least 1A should work, as long as you watch the polarity.
It does leave a bit of extra tape at the beginning and end of each label, which feels wasteful.

Even though it might seem like there are quite a few cons, I genuinely like this label maker and would buy it again. I’m sharing these details to give you the full picture of my experience, hoping it helps you make a more informed decision.

Super easy to use, you can select different fonts and you can also download new fonts from a computer. Prints clearly, isn’t blurry, and isn’t hard to figure out how to use it. My kids obviously had a good time with it :))

Bought it to replace an old Dymo label maker, and I’m glad I did. Very easy to use and there’s an option to have 2 lines of text on a label. I also found some cheap off-brand label maker tape for this label maker on Amazon, so refills won’t cost too much. My only complaint would be the amount of tape wasted when printing a label. There seems to be too big of a margin on both sides of the text. Either way, I still recommend this label maker.

Comparison between the Brother PTH110 vs the Dymo LM160

If you are shopping for a good budget label maker, you might be having a tough time deciding between these 2 models (like I was). I recently purchased this model, and also had an opportunity to try the Dymo as well, and I feel this one takes the cake.

I conducted a few tests to determine print quality and durability you can see in the photos. The white label is printed from the Brother, and the clear label was printed with the Dymo (I did not have access to white dymo labels). Basic print quality for a standard font appears roughly the same on each. The pictures with the labels on the jar were taken after a cycle through the dishwasher, in which both labels held up great without issues. Brother advertises its labels as being laminated, and this does indeed seem to drastically increase durability as can be seen in my sandpaper test. The picture with the letter D on a piece of wood were taken after giving 30 light strokes to each using 600 grit sandpaper. You can see the clear winner in this case is the Brother.

Some other things to point out. Other reviewers claimed the brother wasted tape with extra large margins, however they must have been unaware that the margins are adjustable, with a default of 1 inch, but you can easily make it 1/4 inch. Sometimes however with the small margins, one side will be slightly larger, and include a cut mark, and you must manually cut it to size in that situation.

Also it shines with a greater level of options with fonts, brackets, styles, symbols etc. You can actually look up the pdf instructions on each manufacturers site (or in my links I will post below) to see more about what types of fonts, brackets, symbols each has, but in short the brother has many more options, and you can make labels that look far more stylish than what the Dymo can do. You can see the picture of the silicone label with the fancy bracket, outline lettering, and a drop shadow. I was surprised to find that the drop shadow even worked with things like the symbols, so if you put a heart in there for example, it will have the drop shadow as well.

The menus were quite intuitive and easy to use. Most settings were pretty easy to find, and I only referred to the instructions a couple of times.
Overall I am very happy. If you want an even better one (supposedly, I have not personally used it) you can step up to the Brother PT-D210, which has more fonts/symbols/etc but quite frankly, for me at least this one meets my needs well

Simple effective. Easy to use and cost effective many other label makers aren’t as modern or way more convulted than it should be and this is coming from someone with an engineering background dealing with tedious UIs and bad designs. So I highly recommend this you plug and play. Type print, many design, border and font options, you can easily just size too just amazing. Must buy
