Leon P. Scamahorn –
Buck is what you want to hand over as a gift to a young person first time field knife. Back in the 70’s anyone who was anyone carried a buck of some sort. This knife I gave to my 10 year old grandson just before he shot his first deer a week later. Great looking knife and full of functionality.

This knife is a steal. I already had a Buck knife from Bucks custom shop and the quality was so extraordinary that when I saw these on Amazon thought they might be fake. But no. This is a genuine Buck knife. Sturdy as a rock and and sharp as a razor right out of the box. As a hunter and licensed fur bearer this knife is (in my opinion) the best skining knife on the market. It’s shorter blade gives you better control than a 6 inch knife witch is vital when skinning an animal. The fat curved tip is perfect for the swiping motion needed to remove hides from flesh. I called Buck Knives customer support line and confirmed that all Buck Knives have a Lifetime Warranty even if you buy it from Amazon!

Great Product!
Received knife in a factory package, opened her up and was astonished at the quality and craftsmanship of this knife. It comes razor sharp, mirror finished hand guard and pummel, no exposed rivets on the knife as most do, and a pre-sealed wooden handle. The blade is polished and should get a light coat of oil as well as the brass parts to prevent tarnishing the brass if you plan on storing it or giving as a gift, It is even a good idea to oil it after use to help remove stains from the blade. The leather case is pre-finished and looks to be sealed from the weather. I know leather preservative will not penetrate except around the stitching. The one I got has a plastic liner inside to prevent the knife from cutting into the leather (my guess). There is also a drain hole on the bottom of the sheath so no worries with it holding water. The rivets that would touch the knife as it slides in and out of the sheath are recessed on the inside to prevent this (again, my guess). A holding snap looks to keep the knife from falling out of the sheath because it is on the back. I guess this is for when activity in rough country so the case has a better chance of keeping the knife from getting lost than sheaths where the holding snap is mounted on the side. The knife does fit a little loose in the sheath which looks to prevent the blade from getting scratches form removal and insertion.
I would recommend this as a presentation knife or gift for anyone. I do plan to use mine on hunting trips, so I will how well it keeps an edge. This is one of the times I got what I expected as well as paid for.

Buck, excellent quality.

I was surprised by the length of the handle. I felt for medium size hand it should have been longer.
Everything else was “buck” perfect. As a meat cutter for 45 years I trust buck knives. Especially a company that honors GOD.

Paid all that for a gift and had to tape the box up like a flea market find. Only giving it 4 stars because it’s a case knife
Tina Jones –
Slightly smaller than expected but that is the last of the disappointment sharpened nicely and feels good in hand. Buck knives have not disappointed yet glad I got it

Amazon Customer –
I have, or had, another version of this knife that has been missing for 5 months or so. I saw the cocobolo handled version and liked the looks of the handle so I ordered it. Then I noticed the blade of this version was made of D2 steel. Not knowing much about the properties of D2, I did a quick search. One thing that got my attention was a statement that D2 had “mild corrosion resisting properties”. Not good! I live in Alaska and planned to use this knife to help dress Halibut among other fishing related tasks. So I figured I would send the knife back and buy something made with a steel more suited to being used around water. When the knife arrived I took it out of the box and held it in my hand. It was sharp, very sharp. It was beautiful and classy. No way I can send this back. I’ll make room for it in the kitchen somewhere.
