Good quality …heavy duty durable fit to size…it’s a bit big for me but I like it so I can comfortable layer up under it for winter ..

Agree with other posters that the coat fits large. The label inside says “loose fit”. If you are a slender build, consider sizing down. If you are a normal build, you still should have plenty of room for a thick sweater or hoodie underneath.
I bought an earlier version of this coat 20 years ago. I think this one is better, but fits larger. It has felt lining in the lower pockets – nicer for putting your hands in. Inside the coat, there is one zippered side pocket another velcro pocket.
I bought this to be a work coat, but it is actually nice enough for me to wear as a casual coat.

I gave this a five star only because of Amazon willingness to work with me on this coat. This chore coat has been on my wishlist for some time, it’s a classic! What an iconic look, Paul Newman rocking this coat as Sully in “Nobody’s Fool”! But back to the journey of getting my coat. First the sizing, a medium my normal jacket size was SO BIG, everywhere. I had to return for a small. Next the liner, it had to be a medium size liner in a small coat (see picture). So I returned for another one after talking to Carhartt customer care with assurances that was a defect. The next jacket had a much better liner but it looked like it had been worn, as it had a white spot on the back of the jacket (see picture). Another return and this jacket looks fine, although the liner is a bit sagging, athough not below the back lower hem. We will call it a loose fit! So all in all three returns and I have finally have the classic Carhartt chore coat. Out of the box I’m not fan of the blanket liner from a fit standpoint! A quilted liner, like the sleeves would have been fine. I’m willing to see how it works long term. Time will tell if this is the iconic jacket I had hoped for?

I am 5′ 10″, 185 pounds, and wear size large shirts and jackets. Chest size is 44. I purchased the medium size Carhartt Duck Canvas Chore coat. The coat fits exactly as I desired. Although the sleeves are about 3/4″ too long, the overall fit is comfortable. The shoulder is perfect. I can stretch and move about without restriction. I can easily button the jacket while wearing an undershirt and a heavyweight long-sleeve, pullover top. I have a five inch overlap when I pull the coat tight around me. The circumference around the widest point of my abdomen (after eating) is 43.5.” I can easily button my coat.
If I had to layer heavy clothing and wear tool belt, I would have considered the large size. I will be wearing my Carhartt when shopping or doing chores on my property so the medium is perfect for my needs.
Overall construction is excellent. I snipped a few thread ends. Seams are straight and even. The coat feels good. The canvas is stiff. The coat is made in India. The coat has high aesthetic appeal and I am highly pleased with my purchase. My cat likes the blanket lining as much as I do.

Birthday gift for my father who LOVES it. Excellent quality. Runs a little big, but not terrible. If in between sizes order the smaller. Love it!

My father loves it. Light weight but warm and well constructed.

I wear this coat almost everyday during the Fall and Spring on my farm. They run big so if you usually wear a medium get the small. I am 6′ and about 145 lbs so the small is a good fit for me. Jacket is stiff at first but once its broken in it is like a well worn baseball mit. Fits like a glove. Highly recommend it for a working man’s coat

Super Qualität, robust, warm.

My new chore coat is warm and comfortable. Started to break in nicely after one wash. Love the iconic look and style.
Rick Ashby –
The perfect coat for farming or on the ranch taking care of business, no zipper to get stuck, just heavy-duty Carhartt built.

After reading reviews, I decided to order a Medium instead of my typical large (I am 6′ 2″ and 190 pounds). Glad I did because the medium fits well but I would have been swimming in a large. The sleeves are a bit long and the jacket is very stiff out of the packaging, so I will likely wash it several times in order to break it in faster. The coat is well made and is very warm.
