It’s an inexpensive psu to run external hard drives. Could not have asked for anything better. Works great.

I bought this adapter to feed a B6 LiPo charger. I’ve had good luck with Chanzon in the past, and I’m pleased to say this charger lives up to my expectations. The UL listing gives me extra peace of mind, knowing that these have been tested for electrical safety.

The power supply feels nice and heavy, and the insides don’t sound hollow when you knock on it (unlike countless other cheap, sketchy power supplies out there). That let me know they’re putting way more than the bare-minimum components into this thing.

I’ve exclusively used this adapter on battery chargers, and frequently push it close to its maximum current rating. I don’t use it long enough to know how it performs long-term, but it doesn’t get too hot after about 1 hour of use.

Like most other ungrounded power supplies, this one has a tiny bit of leakage current due to the interference-suppressing capacitors, so you’ll feel a slight buzz when you touch the negative terminal (or any metal surfaces on devices it powers). I checked with my multimeter and it seems to be around the same, maybe a little higher, than other power supplies I had, but still far from being dangerous.

One thing I noticed was that this power supply takes a veeeerrrrry long time to discharge–so don’t be surprised if your device stays powered for a few seconds after you unplug it! Totally normal, it just means they’re using big smoothing capacitors, which is nice.

In conclusion, this feels like a great quality power supply, and it’s been performing great for me!

I’d been having trouble with my Internet service. I had pretty much tracked it down to some kind of intermittent issue with my wireless wifi or broadband modem. I came across a couple of interesting discussions that suggest that the wireless was originally equipped with a power supply which the bare minimum amperage required.

So, as the theory went, as the power supply aged, it’s actual output varied from it original specs and this ‘fact’ (I wasn’t there and I’m not an EE) apparently could cause the type of connection issues I was seeing. I didn’t know if the ‘theory was correct, but I was out of ideas and on the verge of replacing the wireless and the modem, so I thought I’d take the chance. The folks in the forum were recommending a 12V 5A replacement supply.

When others pointed out that this was overkill (original supply was rated at 800 mA), the folks doing the recommending pointed out that the price difference between the two supplies was not a huge factor, and it was better to get a quality supply so you would have no doubt. In my case I intend to put a splitter on the supply output and run 1 side to my wireless, the other side to my broadband modem – so ‘overkill’ was even less of an issue for me.

When the Chanzon 12V 5A 60W AC DC Power Supply arrived, it spoke quality from the start. It was very well packaged and had a weight that was size-appropriate. It even came with an extra DC terminal end in case your needs were a bit different. There is a blue LED on the front to indicate the unit is receiving AC. I should qualify this assessment though as I made no measurements to gauge voltage stability or output amperage. As I’ve only recent purchased this unit, I can make no statements with respect to long-term durability or MTBF. The DC side cord is ~4 ft long and the AC side cord is ~5 ft long and is detachable.

Best of all, all of my intermittent connection issues have now gone away — uh, at least for the time being. (If this ever changes, I’ll update this review. ) All things considered, I am very happy with the Chanzon 12V 5A 60W AC DC Power Supply and would definitely buy another or recommend it to anyone looking for a quality supply with these specs.

Purchased this to replace power adapter for Tivo Roamio OTA series 5. It was recommended by others doing a similar upgrade because of its reliability. I have no reason to doubt that currently. However, the barrel of the male connector is considerably shorter than the original Tivo power adapter. It makes a very poor connection and with the slightest movement loses connection. It was necessary to purchase an adapter to go with this to get an adequate fit. On Amazon I found the RIEYOCA 90 Degree 240 watt DC Power Adapter 5.5mm x 2.5mm female to a 5.5mm x 2.1mm Male. It is very difficult to source something with at least a 12mm male barrel. This one has what you need for a Tivo.

I recently bought a LED strip light kit with two 16-foot strings of lights. The power supply that came with the kit got so hot, I couldn’t hold it in my hand. Within 1 hour, it started intermittently turning on and off. And, within two hours, it died completely. I didn’t want to uninstall the light kit I had just worked 2 hours to install to return it, and I was too keen on asking for a replacement power supply for fear that I would receive another low quality fire hazard. So, I searched and found this UL listed product. It is a perfect fit replacement, works exactly like it supposed to, and puts off almost no perceptible heat. Very pleased I found this item.

We use the Chanzon to power an APC CP12142LI. The power supply that APC recommends is 12V 3A, even though the APC accepts more amps. The 12V 5A Chanzon charged the APC in less than one day, while the 12V 3A charger appeared to be taking over two weeks to charge the APC. The Chanzon is UL listed, which is a big plus. The Chanzon apparently has bigger capacitors than many 12V 5A chargers, which increases the start-up time and the time that a voltage output remains after disconnect. For most applications, the bigger capacitors provide a smoother output, but the longer start-up time could be distracting for some applications like turning lights and off. For our application, the longer start-up time is no problem whatsoever and we prefer the higher quality output waveform.
