Chris Downing –
I agree with the first reviewer – these are very nice pieces to learn and as they are all transcribed to TAB, so much easier to learn if you don’t read music. You’ll still need to understand timing, though this is hammered home in this book as it has notation and hybrid TAB (TAB with timing notating). A lot of rock books come with hybrid TAB now so you shouldn’t have too much trouble figuring it all out. Pretty much for the intermediate guitarist or someone who has played for 6 months, these are real guitar arrangement and will sound very professional once you start to play them smoothly.
If you are looking to extend your repertoire into some classical pieces and you’re used to rock and blues – this is the book for you. It has a couple of dozen full length tunes. You’ll find quite a few well known classics in this collection as well. They sound great as steel string fingerstyle and a few sound good as rock guitar virtuoso pieces as well.
If you’ve seen your guitar heros doing finger tapping classical solos on rock guitar or bass, this collection might be a good place to start to play something that shows off another side to your playing.

I bought this book a handful of years ago and have been playing it regularly. While the transcriptions are a bit interesting, some even simple, the idea and the tone of the compositions are actually quite lovely and easy to master.
I purchased this specifically for Albinoni’s Adagio, but have gravitated and played some of the others, like Mozart’s Serenade from Don Giovanni and Corelli’s Gavotte.
The music is presented both in standard musical notation as well as modern tablature. Some people bemoan tablature, but be advised that tablature has been around since the 1300’s.
This is a great book. The print is clear and some of the transcriptions in this book, I haven’t seen elsewhere.

Mostly excellent and accurate, however, the tablature could be somewhat improved by the musician themselves. On occassions the fingering shown in the tablature serves to interfere with the note values. That said, a great selection of pieces that can be taught to a beginner or self taught by an intermediate player
