Mrknot –
I do quite a bit of canoe camping.
I’m trying to get my girlfriend as excited about spending time in the outdoors as I am.
I figure the best way to do that is to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
Having a good tent is an important part of that.
This is a decent tent.
There’s plenty of floor space. Enough for our twin size inflatable mattress, all of our gear, and the doggie.
The fully enclosed vestibule is nice for storing wet shoes and to isolate the wet dog until she dries off enough to be let around our sleeping gear…
The included mesh gear loft is nice, as are the ample pockets sewn onto the walls. All this makes for convenient storage for phones, keys, headlamps, etc.
The top half of the main body of the tent is all mesh, so ventilation should be pretty good.
While the rain fly provides ample coverage and should keep you dry in even a heavy downpour.
Setup is quite simple as the main poles are permanently attached to the body of the tent.
I have a number of higher-end solo tents, so I have a basis for comparing included hardware.
That’s where this one loses a star.
Inclusion of these few detail items would have lowered the weight of the tent, and/or made setup/takedown easier, but would also have raised the price point. So, it’s a trade-off.
Specifically I am referring to fiberglass poles, instead of aluminum. Fiberglass is pretty durable, but it’s heavy, and less expensive.
The clips that attach the body to the poles are not the easy, twist-off style, but are a little cheaper, less easy to remove variety.
The steel stakes do work, but again, are way heavier than a more expensive aluminum stake.
This is a good budget-minded tent that will get you outdoors in comfort.
I have no doubt that it will serve the casual camper very well.
There are lighter weight, higher quality tents out there, but you will pay for the nicer features and weight savings.
Overall I recommend this for anyone on a budget.
It’ll get you outdoors.

This tent is spacious for the size/weight/cost mix. The vestibule is clutch. It’s very well made at the price point.
For the new season of gear you’ll likely find lots of things labeled as PFAS free, this tent included. It’s just the reality we must deal with for outdoor gear and clothing.
I have an aging quick setup 6 person tent that I loved, but with a tear in the tub and a set of aging straps it was time for something new. This tent exists at a midpoint between an umbrella style quickness and the old poles in sleeves. They’ve sped up setup by making the poles an exoskeleton style and keeping them tethered to the corners so there’s less fumbling when setting up in low light.
What I really like is the ability to get a vestibule in a somewhat compact tent. It’s the donning/doffing of shoes that always used to let mosquitos into our old tent. With the vestibule I can close the zipper in a hurry and take my time while my portable zapper attracts any that may have snuck in and leaves them in the vestibule rather than the sleeping area.
The overall waterproofing is ok for a light rain but the newer materials lost a lot of their water tightness as compared to the old fully taped forever chemical stuff. You can probably beef it up with a DWR type spray if you need to.
If it’s dry out you can leave the rain fly off and have 100% ventilation. If not, the zippered areas should provide enough cross flow.
Overall it is a good value for 3 people or parents and two smaller kids like us. Setup isn’t quite 5 minutes unless you practice a few times, but it’s much better than the old style. I always use a generic tarp as a footprint and I think you should too to keep it in service longer.

The Coleman Skydome Tent with Screen Room & 5-Minute Setup is great!
It shipped well with minimal packaging. It emitted no weird odors or chemical-like smells.
It is true in size at 8 x 3.5 ft and allows space for at least four people give or take the size of the people using it. It can comfortably home a queen sized bed. I like there’s an outer area which can be used to store camping gear, shoes, or a resting area of a person wants some space from the rest of the crowd.
The tent is super durable. It can withstand winds up to 35 impressive mph per hour. The wet proof ness is decent and there is an included cover to help keep everything dry if camping during times when there would be rain or snow.
The weight isn’t too bad at less than 15lbs so if hiking with it to a desired camping spot or just for maneuvering it around its not bad.
Set up and take down is a breeze and not complicated or unwieldy at all.
This tent has been great for my family of four being just the right size without needing a giant tent or several smaller ones.
Recommended!
Tranquility Mader –
I ordered this tent mostly because it was a brand I trust and says it sets up in 5 Minutes. Anyone who has been tent camping knows putting up the tent is half the battle for the weekend. The tent comes assembled and sleeps 2 adults comfortably with a porch like screen room. We had a Queen air mattress that fit perfectly inside with room for accessories as well. It does take about 5 minutes and most of that time is the time it takes to stake it down. I really was impressed I envisioned it to be some sort of transformer that you throw out and it magically turns into a tent without your help. While it is in fact not quite that easy I was really impressed with just how fast it goes up. I think the rods are all fully encased in the tent and make the set up super easy. I was able to put it up by myself and only my young Grandson to help. It really is just unfold and step back. I gave this 5 Stars. This style would have saved me so much time over the years and a few tears as well. It really is easy and it stayed put all weekend. Tear down is not as quick as putting it up but overall it is pretty quick as well. I highly recommend trying the Easy Up Coleman Tent. Save the hard work and drama for the campfire!
