Coleman Skylodge Camping Tent With Instant Setup

Everything looked good until i went to put the tent up and it collapsed. I looked at the poles and saw that 3 of the 4 were put together backwards. After disassembling and putting them back together the correct way, the tent worked properly. So the 5 minute setup was actually hours for the first time. Going forward, it will be super simple but that 3 hour reconstruction of the tent was not amazing.

This tent was really easy to set up, and we sprayed it with two cans of Kiwi camp dry. I paid special attention to the seams and zippers. The first four hours we had it set up we got a torrential downpour and the rain fly leaked. Not so bad, our bedding was dry but there was definitely a 6 inch puddle of water in the lower most point of our camp floor. It had leaked through the rain fly and screen window seams near the bottom of the windows. This is a location on the tent that I had sprayed twice. Of course we will continue to use this tent as there is no reason to send it back but I will be spraying and spraying and probably put a tarp or rain fly (that I will purchase separately) over whatever side of the tent the rain is coming at the most. If rain is in the forecast, don’t roll out your bedding until it’s time to sleep.

Starting with the good – This tent is very spacious and comfortable with a high ceiling and large openings. It’s also very easy to set up – takes 10 minutes or less the first time and once you have the hang of it, probably only 2-3 minutes.

And the bad – most importantly, the tent is not waterproof at all, even with fly correctly installed. Water beads at the base of the window panels and seeps through the seams. After one night of light rain, we had multiple puddles on the floor and anything touching the walls was at least damp if not outright soaking. The build quality was not horrible, but also sub-par – one of the pre-attached poles arriving twisted, requiring it to be forced back into alignment. Additionally, the design of the way it folds up forces any dirt/moisture from the bottom to go to towards the center, making it very difficult to keep clean.

Ho comprato la versione da 6 posti, in realtà entra comodamente il materasso gonfiabile matrimoniali (quello alto) e resta spazio sufficiente per almeno una terza persona (per noi il cagnolino e la sua cuccia!!). Montare questa tenda e’ veramente un gioco da ragazzi: la prima volta e senza particolare esperienza da campeggiatore in soli 10minuti!! E’ sufficiente alzare i quattro bracci telescopici e la tenda va su! Anche la collocazione del tendalino superiore e’ semplicissima, veloce ed intuitiva. I picchetti da piantare sono soltanto 8, quattro per gli angoli e altri quattro per i tiranti.Consiglio – ma vale per tutte le tende. – di comprare dei picchetti per terreno duro perché quelli di serie non sono adeguati e si piegano. Anche lo smontaggio ancora più rapido! La borsa apribile agevola la conservazione della tenda che peraltro rimane pulita richiudendosi su se’ stessa. All’interno è molto ben areata (dispone di due comodi ampi ingressi su due lati opposti e di due finestre) ed è corredata da zanzariere ovunque. Le cerniere sono di ottima fattura e le cuciture hanno un rinforzo plastico che mette al riparo da infiltrazioni in caso di pioggia. Ho avuto la fortuna di utilizzarla senza pioggia e con una notte (sono siciliano) autunnale molto mite (13-14 gradi) ma umida. L’isolamento mi è sembrato ottimo . L’altezza della tenda (1.90 circa) consente di cambiarsi i piedi agevolmente. Varie tasche interne per riporre oggetti ed una piccola fessura con cerniera per eventuale passaggio dell’alimentazione completano l’ottima fattura. Pur non avendola provata in condizioni di pioggia o di vento forte, mi sento di promuovere a pieni voti questa tenda che lascia molto più tempo da dedicare alla vostra vacanza!!!! A parte i picchetti di serie che sono inutilizzabili per terreni semi duri una tenda all’altezza del marchio!

UPDATED REVIEW: From my former review youll see i was initially OK with this product. However, after taking it down and folding it up 4 times with no issues, on the 5th time folding it up one of the corners tore out on the floor. It wasn’t because I didn’t know what I was doing as I had folded it previously without problems. This is the second coleman tent to fall apart after just a few uses in the same year. No more coleman for me!

Overall I love this tent. It is big enough for myself, 2 dogs, and all the stuff. Super simple to set up as well. Do check the instructions to make it easier on yourself.
Now for the disappointment. This is the first time I have used the tent in the rain. 90% dry. Yay. However, the side seams do leak a little and every once in a while I get a drip from above. I can only assume there is a seam letting through a few drops in the rain fly as well.
Overall I am happy. The dogs have plenty of room to stretch out so that’s a plus.
I would purchase this again if I was looking for another.
