Did you know you’re supposed to drink like 10 gallons of fluids every day? Well, maybe not 10, but a lot. You could drink bottles and bottles of Diet Coke. But after a while you will accumulate a lot of empty bottles. The bottles could make you feel you are not doing your part to protect the earth. To avoid feeling like you are destroying the planet, you should switch to drinking tea. Lots and lots of tea. Herbal tea specifically because all that caffeine can’t be good. Herbal tea is way better than Diet Coke. Oh, use one of these teapots to heat up the water. Very convenient. Now you will just have little piles of soggy tea bags accumulating. These are biodegradable!

Bought this as a gift for a bride-to-be and she LOVES it. My understanding is that it heats up well, one factor she loves is the automatic shut off. It’s heavier than I expected but the bride and groom love it. I do think it was expensive for what was in the package. If I was purchasing for myself, I would look for something less expensive.

I hate this thing.
I started getting more into home pour-over recently. I was using my girlfriend’s basic Hario V60 “Buono” Drip Kettle Electric Gooseneck, but I wanted something with more capacity and with a temperature display and hold feature.
So, I looked around a lot. I didn’t want to spend more than $100. I see this one is regularly $99, but Amazon has it on discount for $73. After reading mostly positive reviews, I go for it.
I wish I hadn’t. It’s kind of really annoying to use in the morning. You just need to pay attention so much for a simple pour.
First off, if you fill the water over the line by 1 friggin’ micron you’re going to have spill out of the top of the kettle all over, burning yourself. Guess where they put the line markings? On the handle side… The side that faces away from you as you fill it….
To make matters worse, the neck is very vertical on this kettle. You really need to tilt it to pour, so it’s always a possibility for leaking even when you’re below the fill line. They should have made the spout extended at a less steep angle.
Second, you need to put the top back on a very specific way and match up two arrows exactly…. Who wants to be fussing with this type of stuff every time you make coffee?! It make it not fun and a chore. “Be super careful, put the lid on exactly right!” Ugh…
The actual functions of the base are fine, but I have a sneaking suspicion the temp isn’t really accurate and under 212.
In the end, my girlfriend said “oh at least it looks nice” so if you’re one of those type that cares more about form over function maybe this is fine. For me, however, I would recommend against buying this product.

Needing to eliminate the traffic jam on our stove top caused by both a “gooseneck” kettle as well as a traditional tea kettle. We chose the Cuisinart kettle because we wanted a “gooseneck” kettle for pour over coffee as well as for making tea. I’m pretty sure that the Cuisinart uses induction technology for heating as there is no direct electrical cable or connection on the kettle itself. This unit heats water very fast – virtually no waiting for this guy. One feature we did not expect is that you can pre-select the temperature that you want for your tea or coffee. Their instruction booklet suggests 212 for most teas, 195 – 205 for most coffees and 175 for brewing green tea. Once you start the kettle it shows you the current water temp as well as your target temp. Once it reaches the target temperature, it holds that temperature for 10 mins or more. We didn’t know that we needed these features, but sure are enjoying them. The Cuisinart electric tea kettle, with gooseneck, is well designed and well made. We chose the black version which looks great on our countertop. No more waiting for the kettle to boil on your stovetop. The Cuisinart will beat it every time.

The first one I received had to go back because it wouldn’t turn on, which was a nuisance. Of course, these things happen so I won’t knock the product for that. The second kettle works without issue. Boils water quickly and reasonably quietly. No unnecessary beeping with this kettle, just clicks off. So far, so good.

I pondered getting this over a much more expensive version from another brand — Have had very good experiences with Cusinart in the past, and their standard temp-control kettle is a gold standard, so I took the plunge — overall very happy, love the gooseneck and the temp variables — very nice to have warm but not scalding water when I want, and it is pleasing to look at and handle. Extremely fast heating, faster than expected. Less than ideal is the shrill beeping and somewhat wonky programming quirks — it will make a fuss if it is low water but won’t let you simply turn it off, etc… so its design stopped short of perfection, but is still an excellent kettle, and easy to use. In the future, I hope Cusinart makes their interface more elegant, and improves the sound design to be something more in tune with a lovely everyday sound that will be happy-making to hear on a regular basis. It’s the little things that make a big difference. Overall, very happy with it tho!
