Amazon Customer –
I was very surprised how well these tuned up especially after tuning the cheap strings that came on my budget cello. It took like 3 days for those things to stretch and settle in, but these held their pitch nearly spot on from the first tuning. That was awesome. I can tell they have a warmer sound than the tinny strings I replaced them with (even with my new-to-cello ears.) A reasonably priced upgrade that’s totally worth it, and I love they’re made in the USA.

I recently bought an inexpensive Cecilio Cello on Amazon because I’m 50 and thought I’d relive my tween years of cello playing without breaking the bank. It’s a slow process but I KNEW the sound could be better than the scratching sounds I was getting from the CHEAPEST STRINGS ON THIS PLANET THAT CAME with the cello.
Purchased these Prelude Strings based on positive reviews. Wow!! What a difference. Now granted, I do realize that these are not the top of the line strings (those are very expensive- almost more than what I paid for the cello!!!) but by simply changing out the strings, my cello sounds well, like a Cello should sound. The strings are thinner than the original set and therefore easier to press and find the note more easily. It’s a win in my book.
(Note: I encountered a problem with my C string when replacing the older string and the company was VERY understanding and worked in resolving the issue very promptly and professionally. A+ Customer Service!)
If you are a student or a celloist looking to replace strings without selling your blood, this is a great set!

Well, cello strings are not cheap. But I tried saving money and bought some cheap ones online and two of them broke in less than a month. I have tried these Preludes now on a 4/4 and a 3/4 cello and two electric cellos. For the money they are hard to beat. There may be better strings out there that cost more, but I am thinking now that buying anything less than these is false value. I am a beginner cellist but am currently really liking these for the price. I currently have some helicore strings on the 4/4 and those do sound slightly better. If you are on a budget and just beginning cello I don’t see how you could go wrong with these.

I recently bought a low cost practice cello that include some un-named generic brand strings. When I practiced the sound was very tin-ish sounding and always sounded slight out of tune. I wasn’t sure if it was just my bad playing or not. A friend told me I should try replacing the strings and see if the sound improved so I ordered a D’Addario Prelude Cello Single A String to test it out rather than replace all the strings at once. I have to say the difference in sound quality is astounding! Now I’m replacing all my strings. If I could rate these more than 5 stars I certainly would!

My daughter had outgrown her rented 1/2-sized cello so we bought a used 3/4 sized cello. The cello seemed nice for a student model, but her instructor soon informed me that the G string was having issues holding a tune and was probably in need of replacement. I decided that it would be wise to buy the whole set as I would probably need to replace them all eventually. The D’Addario Preludes seemed to be well reviewed and had a moderate price-point so I went with them. So far, I have only replaced the G string, but what a difference – very stable (tunes well and stays in tune) and has a good full tone. I’m sure there are better ones out there, but for a student grade instrument, these work well. These are a nice sounding string for a moderate price. Coming from guitars, I was a bit shocked at what they get for a set of cello strings but I resisted any urge to buy a set of cheapies. Do your budding cellist a favor and avoid them too. BTW, I was new to stringing an orchestral instrument with a floating bridge, so I searched it on YouTube. I recommend it for anyone who hasn’t strung one before.

O produto é ótimo. Porém veio faltando uma corda. Na caixa consta um SET de 5 cordas (2 cordas “lá”). A corda com revestimento com alumínio não veio junto.

I am getting back to playing my cello after almost 2 years of shoulder problems. I just received the strings today. I must say that I am very pleased with them. I replaced the the Cecilio strings that came with the cello they were very poor quality as was the bow that came with it, the bow also needs to be replaced. These have a significant quality difference. the sound is rich and deep and especially on the A string I get a rich high note without the screeching of the cheap strings. The C and G and D string are also a big improvement. The A string sound as good as a $50 Jagar I had on it until I broke it by accident. Over all this set of strings way surpasses what I had hoped they would be.My instructor at our community chamber symphony was surprised when I told him that the strings were Prelude and told me they sounded like much more expensive strings
