Performance of this heater is good, but the black-on-black control panel is comically hard to use. Plan to have a flashlight handy to turn this on and off.

This is a radiant heater, odorless and blowerless, which does a great job at gently heating a room and maintaining temperature. It can be wall mounted; I used the feet, and they are a bit flimsy, so I would be cautious about having this around an energetic dog or children without anchoring it. It does not become excessively hot in use. Very nice, and despite the control panel annoyance, I would buy another. The low profile makes it unobtrusive and easy to fit against a wall.

ETA: I’ve been using this in a large, open three-“room” space and it has done very very well on Eco mode. Turn it on in the morning, leave it on all day—it switches itself off and on as needed to maintain the temperature. *I’ve never used the fan.* Leaving it on nearly constantly to heat the most-used rooms, the inefficient forced hot air heating system has been running less for a net savings on utility bills, very pleased. Just about always on in Eco mode at 67, it’s great. The rooms it’s heating have three walls of big poorly-insulated windows, if you were wondering. I’m raising my rating, the control panel is still ridiculous but the unit is performing better than expected.

Cost of operation will depend on electricity costs in your area and how much you use it!

After some research, I chose this DeLonghi slim style heater for our 14′ x 20′ den. There is a 12′ wide double sliding door unit that leads to the backyard, and it makes heating this room with our oil burner/baseboard heating system a bit of a challenge. I purchased this heater, not so much to reduce our heating oil bills, but to make this room, where we spend most of our time, more comfortable during the winter months (which are VERY cold here in NY). I’ve had this heater for only 2 days, and here are my preliminary observations:

    1) After reading about “tempering” the heater before first use, I ran it on the highest setting outside for about 3 hours (I read that this helps to burn-off whatever lubricant the manufacturer uses to keep these from rusting while stored in their warehouse). People complain about a smell from these heaters, and this “tempering” seemed to do the trick. There was still a minor smell, but not a problem. You may want to run this heater outside or in a garage for more hours than I did.

    2) The look and style of this heater is awesome (of course, that is very subjective). It’s pretty large, but has a very thin footprint, so placement near/against a wall works very well, and makes it fairly unobtrusive. It does not get hot to the touch.

    3) My first concern was that I only have one wall outlet located within reach of the 6′ power cord. It’s a 15-amp circuit, which would be ok for this heater if it’s the only thing on the circuit. However, I have a few lights, and my home theater system (TV, a/v receiver, cable box, and powered subwoofer) on the same circuit. I plugged in the heater, pressed the power button (half-expecting to trip the circuit breaker), but it didn’t trip. I progressed through the modes on the heater, and kept the highest heat setting (plus fan) on. Everything went well through yesterday and today…no power issues…and I continue to check the power cord and connection at the outlet, and they are not warm at all. I will be getting a price from an electrician to run a separate 20-amp line to the den, specifically for the heater, but for now, all seems good.

    4) Now for the main thing…the heat. Everyone’s home is different. Everyone’s room application for this heater is different. Our den is not the best insulated room, and that “wall of glass” does not do a great job of keeping the cold out. That said, I placed this heater at one end of the room, set the thermostat on 82, and let it run on high. The heater, even with the fan blowing, took at least an hour to start to take the edge off the cold in the room, and after a couple of hours, the room was comfortable…not super-warm…comfortable (which is all we are looking for). That was last night when the outside temp was around 25 degrees, and today, with 15 degree weather, the same heater setting took a little longer, and didn’t quite heat the room as well…but it definitely helped.

From what I understand, these convector heaters are not designed to heat a space very quickly. If that’s what you want, I suggest checking out quartz heaters.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Very pleased. Thinking of buying another one. I have all tile & wood floors. No curtains. Home is very well insulated yet a couple of bedrooms don’t heat/cool efficiently because of ductwork layout. This works perfect. Quiet. Compact. Seek design means it can go close to a wall and out of the way. I figure out the buttons and how to operate without reading instructions. *note: I still recommend reading. The instructions* I am usually that one person who is cold and like the room toasty. This is perfect. Lightweight too. Highly recommend.

I like this portable heater. It is accurate in regards to it’s thermostat, when compared to an accurate one I have on the wall. When it’s on, you can feel the heat above it right away. The digital interface on side is bright and easy to read. Though, I do wish the controls below the display where easier to see, when the light in room is not bright. Wish they had figured out had to create more contrast for the controls, so they are more visible. The fans when unit is on high (only time fans are on) are fairly quiet too. Very happy with this portable unit.

I don’t understand the one-star reviews. This heater is 1500 watts, so it provides the same heat output as any other 1500-watt heater due to the principles of thermodynamics. If people experienced melted cords, they likely placed the heater too close to the outlet. Overall, this heater is excellent and stays out of the way. If I had to pick an issue it would be if the power goes out it doesn’t automatically restart.

Used to supplement the heat in our basement sitting room. Don’t know it is there unless we pull out the plug, it runs so quiet not like the fan heater we used to have.
