The media could not be loaded.

I’m not a person who makes a lot of coffee at home. I am a person who spends half their paycheck at Starbucks, even on the weekends.

So, I’m a beginner! We have a K-Cup machine at home which we never use, and a million years ago we had a drip coffee maker that we also never used.

I love me an oat latte in the morning, and I’d really like to make one without leaving the house since I mostly work from home.

I was excited to get this Delonghi Magnifica Start Fully Automatic Espresso Machine because it seemed like it would be good for a person who has no idea how fancy espresso machines work.

First off, this feels so FANCY compared to my current coffee maker. I feel like an adultier adult making fancy coffees. It makes my counter look very high end just by existing there.

It has quite a large water reservoir which is nice. It doesn’t take a ton of water to make a latte, which is my coffee drink of choice. I really like that the reservoir has a measuring line on the side so I can see it while I’m filling, and it also has a lid which helps me not spill.

This doesn’t have an LCD screen like some of the espresso machines, but I do like the simplicity of the buttons that are provided.

The dual spout that the espresso comes out of slides up and down to meet the size of your cup, which is convenient.

I’ve noticed that when you turn the machine on and when you turn it off (or when it turns itself off, it does cycle a bit and expel some water, so I’d advise keeping a cup on the base at all times.

The machine also seems to expel water into the base underneath where your cup goes. I’m not sure exactly why or where it comes from, but it does seem to fill up gradually. I think this might be the source of the spillage that another reviewer mentioned. This happened to me as well, then I realized that I actually need to dump water out of the base every day or two.

This DeLonghi machine has an automatic milk frother which is delightful. I know that you need a manual frother to do latte art, but I just love pressing one button and having a lovely latte appear in front of me. The frothing cup has lines on it that show you how much milk you need for each type of drink, which is great.

I do wish it were a bit easier to clean the frother. The cup itself and some of the pieces are easy, but the lid has hidden nooks and crannies which makes me nervous. I wish I could thoroughly take it apart and clean it. I have purchased a second frothing cup separately so I can alternate keeping them clean.

One of the features is that this machine makes hot water, but you have to replace the milk frother with a different spout for this. I wish there were some place to sort of dock or store the alternate spout – it looks messy to just leave it on top of the machine.

Sadly, the DeLonghi doesn’t seem to have the ability to JUST create foam. It boggles my mind that there isn’t a way to do this. It would be so easy to program the machine to just create foam. There are many applications for having just foam – what if you want extra foam, or you’re making hot chocolate or a drink for your kiddo? It’s silly.

It’s easy to put coffee beans in the top and to change grind settings. This works very well.

This is a great machine. I’ve been using it for quite a while and I’m just loving it! It’s expensive, but it does what it does very well.

  2. Sami~💯Honest Vine Voice

So I have been fantasizing about owning an espresso machine like this one for over a decade. When I saw it on Vine to try, I literally cried REAL tears of joy!!! I have been using it for about a month now, and I am now convinced this is literally a lifelong necessity in my life!! I have saved SOOOO MUCH MONEY since I got this set up!! I have literally already noticed the difference in my savings account going up faster than ever before, because all I need to buy now is milk, sugar and beans!

I find the small capacity water reservoir to be perfect for me personally, but I can definitely see the small size being a little bit of a hassle the more coffee drinkers that are in your household. IMO, it shouldn’t really be an issue as long as you check the levels of the water and beans before each time you use it, which has become a habit for me. I can’t believe how FAST it is to be taken to absolute HEAVEN!! Obviously, your experience will vary depending on the quality of your beans, that being said, this machine will make even the cheapest beans taste better than ever! I am overly obsessed with how EASY it is to clean, and how easy the cleaning instructions were to follow. As are the operating instructions. This is definitely a heckofa treat to have in your home, of course it is on the expensive side, but that’s to be expected with such a high end machine.

Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this De’Longhi Magnifica and I literally haven’t been able to stop talking about it to every single person possible!! I suggest doing the math on how much you are currently spending on buying your coffee everyday, if you are not a home brewer, like I was not..&& see how quickly you would have this paid off, then it’s basically coffee for the price of beans, which is my literal dream LOL!! I am SO grateful and overjoyed to own this!!

I hope My Review has been Helpful!! 😊👍

Okay I’m not much of a straight coffee drinker but I do love my coffee inspired drinks like a Caramel Macchiato, and a Cinnamon Dulce Latte just to name a few. I figured that I wanted to start making those at home instead of buying them on the occasion and I knew that I would need an espresso machine. I love that it has a built in grinder and can make so many drink options. So far I’m still testing it and working on my drink making skills the machine isn’t too complicated to learn but it does have a learning curve and I am still working that out. I like how the machine functions and the quality is excellent so far I am very impressed and as I get more familiar with the machine and it’s capabilities and my confidence with it increases I know that I will be making even better drinks using the machine.

We were so excited to receive the machine. But the menu screen fell out after taking the machine out of the box. We tried several times to put the screen cover back but it didn’t work. The white glue behind the screen was still wet. We couldn’t believe the quality of this $800 machine. We now have no confidence of DeLonghi & probably will pick another brand.

I had a house full of guests when this arrived so I was able to test it out a good amount of times to get the hang of this thing. I have the higher end Jura at work (does not have a automatic milk frother), so figured it works roughly the same. It’s not as intuitive as you think, so probably best to really review the instruction booklet. Also, as noted by another reviewer, do your trials with cheap coffee. We made a few mistakes and would hear it grinding, but no coffee/espresso would come out.

So I had to set my expectations with this machine as I did with the Jura at work that if you want a full-ish cup of coffee, you probably have to run it twice to get a good size cup. Same goes with the lattes, but I would probably run an espresso function then the latte function to get a stronger cup. Make sure you also run the clean cycle after using the milk frother.

To dump the grinds, you have to pull out the bottom tray to get access to the bin. It’s easy to clean. While you’re doing that, just dump any water that’s in the tray. Again, like my machine at work, I like to keep an empty cup under the dispenser as it runs through rinse cycles periodically. The water container slides out easily from the right. Make sure to install the filter correctly. We messed up on it somehow and that’s why it wasn’t producing any espresso.

The top bin portion also has space for pre-ground coffee, which is nice. But I like the convenience of getting whole beans and setting how fine the ground is myself. All in all, I really love this new machine and am hoping it will save me some money as I like to buy my drinks a lot, especially on the weekends.

I am new at using any espresso machine and I was hesitant at first (the manual can be scary). My fear was gone the first day I set up my Magnifica Start. I followed the instructions and by day two I was making double espressos and cappuccinos. I found the Quick Start manual to be very helpful (but also read the entire manual). It is a joy to use and easy to clean. You must follow its prompts and clean after each milk type drink! The display panel is wonderful and simple. The frother is spectacular. My cappuccinos were so beautiful that I had to order clear glass cups to enjoy them. Highly recommend this machine.

If you don’t want to become a certified barista, this is your machine. It’s more automated that every espresso machine out there, it grinds and packs the coffee. It also gives you the choices between hot water for teas, you can make the best cup of coffee, espresso, lattes, steam milk and makes a perfect froth for your lattes. Yes it is a bit pricey but you’ll never ever have go to a over expensive coffee shop and have to tip someone for a crap coffee ever again 😀.
