Donner Electric Guitar LP Solid Body, DLP-124B

This is a great little LP; looks awesome, sounds way better than it should for this price, well constructed, and fun to play. The frets are surprisingly smooth. My fender strat and Hagstrom viking Dlx (around $1000 each) didn’t have frets this clean. I was shocked to see that it shipped in the soft gig bag, in a thin cardboard box, with no foam around it. Mine arrived with no damage at all but I can understand how some of the other reviews show broken guitars. The strap is soft and comfortable, and the gig bag is your standard bag. I haven’t used the 10ft cable since I have the Shure cordless guitar system. I’m playing it through a Fender Mustang GTX 100 and it sounds amazing!

I added $65 in upgrades to it so far; multi contact output jack, Earnie Ball super locks for the strap, Guyker locking tuners (because their screw hole on the back lined up perfect), and I have a black toggle cover coming today. The guitar and upgrades came to the same price as the DIY kit I almost purchased.
Side note: I wanted to keep the Donner tuner knobs but they don’t fit over the Guyker shafts. Also the diameter of the new output jack was slightly larger than the jack cover plate.

Out of the box I lowered the bridge 1 turn on the screws, tuned it, checked the neck (no adjustment needed), my fretboard was extremely dry (it looked like dog *@#* when it starts to turn white) so I put 3 coats of conditioner on it and it looks/feels a lot better. Over all I’m tickled I bought this thing. I can’t wait to throw in some hot SDs!

I purchased this Donner LP Electric Guitar through Amazon. The price was very good. When the guitar arrived, I unboxed it and began playing the guitar (of course I tuned it first). WOW! I was very surprised at the quality of tone this instrument delivers, as well as the action on the guitar itself!
Then I looked at the back of the guitar and found some defects. I contacted Donner immediately, sent photos as well. Donner agreed with the defects and sent a refund. Due to their expedient response, I went on Donner’s website to peruse other items. They have a new customer! Thank you, Amazon!

It has great sound and it impressed me out of the box. I just tuned it and enjoyed it immediately; great guitar for any beginner.
I initially purchased it with the intent of doing a major mod job on it (tuners, pickups, bridge, electronics, etc), but surprisingly it doesn’t need it.
Great sound, ease of use, and nicely set-up; How can they sell them so cheap?

If you are undecided still, Amazon has great return policies if it is not to your satisfaction/expectations, so go for it and surprise yourself with a great guitar at a great price.
I highly recommend this guitar for beginners and intermediate players!

I love the build quality of the guitar. I love the pickups and the 9 ways they can be configured via the 3 way pickup selector and the single/dual coil switches. I love good music from every genre and this goes a long ways to enabling me to play all of it on one guitar. You couldn’t find a better budget guitar.

One nit to pick though. The setup this guitar comes with is passing and just on the right side of “Meh”. The pickups are set way too low. The action is a little high, but easily playable. I had a slight fret buzz on a couple frets. The intonation was spot on though. The strings are a little light for this style of guitar.

If you are a seasoned player that is used to setting intonation, tress rods, action, and leveling frets, then this guitar is a steal. After all, we tend to change the setup on every guitar we buy regardless. When you can do it yourself, you tend to be picky and highly specific on this things.

If you are a beginner player, then I suggest you go ahead and buy this guitar still. You save an easy $100 or more buying this guitar over the more recognized brands. You can get your guitar setup professionally to what you like once you have played it a bit and know what you think needs changed. And then you will have a better sounding and more feature rich guitar than what Ibanez is offering, while still saving a Benny, give or take.

Unless you have money to throw as the solution to all problems, then I recommend this guitar. If you do have money to throw at all problems… buy this and a Gibson.

I have been playing guitar for years and wanted something to tune to open E for playing slide. Right out of the box I only had to tune the guitar. No setup was required and it plays incredibly well for a LP look alike.
It is well made and a perfect first-time learner or old-time player. You can not beat the price.
