Elaine Bridges –
This was helpful to me but they need a new edition because with the new Finale it is not up to date with the graphics of the program. I have not gotten into it totally so I may like it more later. I struggle with Finale because their online help is terrible so you may need this.

‘Finale: An Easy Guide to Music Notation’ is almost a misnomer. There is nothing easy about learning Finale! I am still using the book as a reference and probably will for some time to come. Finale has a lot of non-standard computer procedures and the learning curve is a bit steep, even for a seasoned musician and especially if he is new to scoring with a computer. So, the easier the better, especially to start off with. The book fit nicely into this category even though it probably was intended for a class workbook. The format was a bit wrong for private use. It was set up with exercises and lessons as opposed to straight text information. If you like to work through lessons step by step then the book is a good place to start.

An excellent book…really clearly set out with easy to follow sequential steps for learning this software. Packed with clear diagrams and idiot-proof instructions. This book is a knockout!

I have been using Finale for years, 13 now. With all of the changes over the years and the fact that Make Music refuses to have a real book for the program, I bought this. I started from the very beginning and have learned so much. My skills are better and I can input faster than ever. I have learned how to do do thing I never new were possible, and I did not have to try and look up on the useless PDF that comes with Finale. You can also get an update for Final 2006 on line. This is great to start from the beginning and work all the way to the end. You will be a pro in no time. It is fast and easy to work through.

I bought this book after being hired to score a complete musical for an arranger. I did not know FINALE at all. I decided on this book because it was from Berklee Press…. I am a Berklee grad.
This is not just a book.. it’s a complete COURSE on Finale. It is structured like you are in class, so it progressively introduces you to the program. Constantly reviewing and reinforcing what you have already learned. I was up and running in no time on the program, and I am happy to report, I’m almost done scoring an ENTIRE MUSICAL!
Highly Recommended!

This book is excellent. I bought it for a notation class, and it is just what I was looking for. The lessons are gradually challenging, and they present the opportunity to apply the previous material learned and learn new techniques. It is very complete, and most of the steps to follow are properly illustrated. Buy it!!!!

Publication date had not been included in the ad. I purchased it thinking it was relatively recent, but found it to be from 2002. Completely outdated information. Big rip-off. Item was sealed in new condition from Berklee press, but 10 years old.

after being really frustrated with trying to learn finale on my own, i bought this book. It is great, because it has very clear cut lessons to follow, and starts you from beginner, and takes you all the way through the program. I highly reccomend this book!
