Most refurbished products were just returns. This one had a minor problem preventing me from saving the settings to the camera. I’m assuming this is why it was returned. All I had to do was update the cameras firmware with the newest version from their site. After that, saving worked normally.

The elgato facecam is a very popular webcam that’s very easily adjustable and has a very good quality image. The facecam it considerably easy to set up and it is very portable and can be moved very easily. The elgato facecam seems to be very durable and will probably last for a very long time!

*UPDATE 10/10/23*
Found what could be a HUGE additional factor in the USB issues!!! WINDOWS USERS Go to Power & Sleep Settings -> Additional Power Settings -> Change your current Plan Settings -> Change Advance Power Settings -> HERE scroll down till you see USB Settings, Expand it, USB Selective suspend settings, Expand it and change the Setting to DISABLED. Apply, Ok, Close, Restart. Retry 🙂 it’s been 2 days since I’ve changed this so far no freezing/crashing so far hopefully that combined with changing the USB Transfermode stated prior below does the trick. It’s all indefinitely relating to USB Transfer/Power.
*UPDATE 9/17/23*
The fix for the crashing has definitely helped out a lot!! Still occasionally crashes specially while using ElGato Virtual Camera but definitely A LOTTTT less, almost rarely happens now. I just bought a Cam Link 4k I will be testing out to compare to find out if its a FaceCam issue (hopefully could be fixed with updates) or if its a Camera Hub issue. Will update again after some time of usage.
The ElGato Facecam is a great camera!! Unfortunately coming straight out the boss will have TERRIBLE/grainy looking quality. That can easily be fixed by downloading the ElGato Camera Hub and playing with the Shutter Speed and ISO settings. Recommended settings for most basic lightings is 1/50 – 1/100s as Shutter Speed and +/- 1000 in the ISO setting.
-FREEZING-
Freezing/lag/COMPUTER CRASHES caused by the ElGato Facecam is actually a common problem that can mostly be fixed by opening up the Camera Hub. HOLDING CTRL and clicking the 3 line settings button between “Device” and “Save” at the top. Once you click it, if you had CTRL held it’ll expose a hidden setting options called USB Transfer Mode.
If you’re on a M1 Mac or Microsoft Surface or devices a like select “Isochronus”. If you’re on a Intel/Desktop (I’m on AMD and this worked for me too) select the “Bulk” option and wallah!!! The freezing/lag/crashes happen apparently because of the Automatic setting and it switching back and forth between USB transfer modes.
4 stars is actually a very kid rating based on the headaches some of us have to go through to find whats the issue (Facecam) and how to solve it.

Not 100% sure but it’s been a full 24 hours with my PC on and Facecam opened through OBS with Camera Hub running in the background and after changing my USB Transfer Mode it hasn’t crashed not ONCE. Will follow up in the near future if issues come back

This camera is legit. Anyone having a problem is just not thinking clearly before they purchase.
Using the wrong usb plug and it will not be able to deliver the power and video transfer speeds it needs to work properly.
Your motherboard or chasis must have the proper gen usb plug for this to work. I don’t remember off the top of my head but it is a yellow usb port on my motherboard. I have had no issues with this camera. It is flawless.
Admittedly, first setting it up, I did use my basic usb port and I did have the dame issues as everyone else. Then it dawned on me that I didnt consider transfer speeds for my peripherals when hooking them up. So, once I put everything in its proper place. I have had zero issues with this camera. I’ve had it now for about 3 weeks and all the issues i did have were fixed by using the proper usb port.
