The Sonic Boom M2 High Speed Rope is yet another product by Epitomie Fitness that I am extremely pleased with, these guys definitely know how to get things right.
The product comes in a smart looking box and also includes a draw bag both of which include a nicely designed logo. Inside the box are easy to follow instructions to adjust cable length and a link to free jump rope training videos. The product itself comes with two lightweight ropes one in red and one in black. The ropes are easy fixed into the handles and also removed from them simply by pressing down on the button on top of the handles. The locking system is great and keeps the rope in place. The product overall is easy to hold and very lightweight. The M2 High Speed Jump Rope is a great alternative to running to get in some aerobic conditioning during lockdown. I’m happy with it and highly recommend it.

I’ll start by saying I’ve owned several jump ropes over the years, and usually use them a couple times a week to do a few hundred jumps at a time. It’s a nice addition to a boxing workout. They eventually wear out, usually with the rope / cable breaking near the connection to the handle. I’ve bought them at local sporting stores or on Amazon, usually in the $20-ish range.

So I decided to try the more expensive Sonic Boom because of the design of the cable and handle. Once I received it, I could immediately tell the quality of the handles and the cable are much better than previous ropes I’ve owned. The clever handle design makes loading and adjusting the cable super fast and easy. And the bearings in the handle seem likely to eliminate the failure point of the other ropes I’ve owned, not to mention that the braided cable (which is encased in a plastic shell) is hopefully more likely to hold up over time. Just to be clear, I’ve only owned it for a few weeks, so my thoughts on durability are just conjecture at this point.

The major drawback for me is weight. Some of my experience I’m sure is just learning curve, and adjusting to a new rope. But I find it much more difficult to use than any past jump ropes I’ve owned. I like using a weighted rope and handles, which work your arms a little more and give you a feel for timing (heavier handles and rope are a little harder to swing, but that effort gives you a clear sense of timing, so even if you aren’t looking at the rope, you know when to jump). With those old ropes, I could easily do 400-500 jumps without missing a step. The Sonic Boom is just the opposite. The cable and handles are so thin and light it’s hard to get a feel for it as it swings around, so timing is more difficult. The handles themselves are very slim, so there’s a major contrast with the weighted handles from other ropes which feel large and solid in your hand, and these, which are literally slimmer than a typical dry erase marker, so I feel like I’m holding them between my thumb and forefinger instead of in the palm of my hand. It’s built for speed, and with very little effort, you can make the cable spin very fast, but the cable is so slim that it’s hard to get a sense for where it is, and I find myself struggling to get more than 50-150 jumps before I lose timing and have to start again. I’m sure I’ll get better with practice. But if I were designing this myself, I would use their clever handle design (quick connect & bearings) with a much heavier rope and larger/heavier handles. That would be a 5 star product for sure.

As a beginner jump rope athlete, I’ve recently tried out the Epitomie Fitness Sonic Boom M2 High Speed Jump Rope. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons based on my experience:

    Pros:

    High-Speed Performance:
The Sonic Boom M2 is designed for high-speed workouts, and it definitely lives up to that promise. The 360-degree spin feature allows for smooth, fast rotations, which is great for improving my speed and agility.

    Self-Locking, Screw-Free Design:
The patent-pending self-locking mechanism is a standout feature. It’s really convenient because I don’t need any tools or screws to adjust the length of the rope. This makes it easy to customize the length to fit my height and ensures a secure fit during workouts.

    Dual Speed Cables:
The jump rope includes two speed cables.

    Durability:
The build quality is impressive. The rope itself feels sturdy, and the materials used in the handles and cables seem durable, so I expect it to last through many workouts.

    Cons:

    Cable Adjustment:
While the self-locking mechanism is convenient, adjusting the cable length can be a deterrent for first time users to get the length just right. In comparison to competitors sizing accommodations out of the box.

    Initial Setup:
The jump rope comes with a bit of an initial setup process. The need to attach the cables to the handles can be a little tricky if you’re not familiar with the process. A more detailed instruction manual or video guide could be helpful.

    Price Point:
The Epitomie Fitness Sonic Boom M2 is on the higher end of the price spectrum for jump ropes. As a beginner, it might be a bit of an investment, but it could be worth it for the quality and features if you’re serious about jump roping.

    Size of Handles:
The handles are slightly larger than some other ropes I’ve used. While this can be beneficial for grip, it might feel a bit elongated if you have smaller hands.

    Final Thoughts:

The Epitomie Fitness Sonic Boom M2 High Speed Jump Rope is a high-quality option for anyone serious about jump rope training. Its design features, such as the self-locking mechanism, weighted handles, and dual-speed cables, make it a versatile tool for enhancing your workout. While there are a few minor drawbacks, such as the initial setup and price, the overall performance and durability make it a strong choice for both beginners and more advanced jump rope enthusiasts. If you’re committed to improving your jump rope skills and are willing to invest in a top-notch rope, the Sonic Boom M2 is worth considering.

I cannot say enough good things about this rope! I do crossfit which requires a lot of jump roping and double unders. If you don’t have your own rope you have to borrow other peoples ropes. That was getting old because I could never find the right size for my height in the minute we had to grab them during class. So I tried all the ones at the gym and was ready to bite the bullet and buy the $60 RPM ones because they were the best of the ones I tried. So I went to amazon and stumbled upon these babies! They were half the price of the RPM and I didn’t have to cut the rope??? SOLD! I could not wait for them to arrive. When they did I couldn’t believe it. You literally stick the rope in the hole and voila that’s it! You are ready to go. The other ones you have to measure and cut and get tools out to tighten things. Nope not here. It takes 1 second and you are ready to rock! I love that you can adjust them to different lengths every day. If you are tired and need more rope you just pull some out. If you want to go fast and use less rope you just put more in the handle. You can’t do that with any other rope. Believe me I researched them all. You could pull on the rope all day and it will never come out of the handle. Once it’s locked in it’s not going anywhere until you release it. Brilliant! The handles are the perfect width, and length for me. They feel very solid. Made out of metal which is so much nicer than that light plastic that others are made of. And they spin! The handles actually spin! Very fast. So your jumprope can really fly. If you email the company about how much you like it they will send you another rope. Just the rope though not the handles. How cool is that? I literally can’t say enough good things about this rope. By far the best one out there and half the price of the “best”. And I finally am getting a few double unders!!

I hate running! I still do it because you never know when you might need to outrun a bear or a hoard of zombies but I hate it. Because of this I’m always looking for an alternative cardio exercise and after several mentions in the health magazines and YouTube fitness channels I follow I decided to give skipping a try. If you’re reading this then, like me, before you buy anything you probably research the heck out of it and I found these Sonic Boom M2’s recommended by several different reviewers so I decided to give them a try and I wasn’t disappointed. Right out of the box they felt like a quality item. They are solid, they feel good in your hand, and once you insert the rope into the handle using the quick release mechanism, they turn smoothly. As I mentioned I am new to skipping but even I know that the goal of the professional skipper is the mighty double under and these handles are quick enough to allow even me to achieve one or two at a time. And, when you do mess up, the rope is light enough that you barely feel it hitting your pants. Now I titled this review “You get what you pay for (and more)” and I think the qualities I’ve already outlined above would justify that statement but that’s not even the best part. I think as far as value for money goes the quick release mechanism makes all the difference and here’s why. As I showed in the photographs above each handle holds about 6 inches of extra rope inside. Because of this I can set the rope to my partner’s height (her being shorter than me) and then when it’s my turn I just use the quick release to extend to the right size for me and in a couple seconds I’m ready to skip. So there you go now I’ve got 2 skipping ropes for the price of one. Great value right, but wait there’s more. The set comes with a second rope so if I do the same thing for my kids then just like like that I’ve got 4 ropes for the price of one and each one of them is the same great quality. I hope that after reading this you’ll give the Sonic Boom M2’s a try, they didn’t make me hate running any less but I certainly look forward to my cardio sessions more.
