A significant improvement over my beater, Hohner acoustic. Easy on the hands. Seems to be settling in after practicing on it for about a half hour. Strings definitely were not pre-stretched. Nice sound projection and the body resonates nicely. Sustains a note/chord for long time. It rewards you well sonically when you hit the chords and notes just right.
I can’t say much regarding the “setup” because I am not skilled enough to determine if the neck needs adjustment or anything like that. Looks fine to me when I hold it up closely and look down the neck/frets. The saddle and nut also seem fine, but I will likely replace the saddle and nut as well as the pins with those made of bone for both tone and cool factor. Head stock and tuning knobs all seem fine on close inspection and operation.
Sorry to report not much useful info from me on the electronics because I don’t have an amp. But one thing of note… Be aware that the built in tuner will not work unless you have it plugged into an amp. I confirmed this with the included Fishman instructions. I thought the tuner would come on anytime I wanted so I could tune it. Nope. Must be plugged in to an amp. Thinking back, it makes sense, because the sound is transduced into an electric signal by the Fishman pickup on its way to the amp.
Docked one star in craftsmanship for the sloppy application of stain you see in the pic as well as some minor finish aberrations. The builder(s) just let the stain run down into the sound hole; they didn’t actually put it there with intent. It would have only taken 3 seconds to correct this during the staining process. I will fix it with one of those stain pens you can get at any DIY store because my eye automatically goes directly to that spot when I pick it up. Leaving it raw wood would have even looked better. Also noticed some aberrations on the body if I hold it at specific angles. You can detect them as distortions of the glare, but not when looking at it “normally.” I cannot feel them when I run my finger over those areas though. Maybe just the clearcoat.
All told, this seems like a decent guitar for the price. I am not disappointed, even with the small cosmetic flaws. Hopefully one day I will be able to play good enough to get all the potential out of this guitar.
Good luck to everyone learning. Anything worth learning requires effort. At least, that is what I keep telling myself.

Great guitar all around. The only complaint i have is the frets are so small. Took some getting used to, but plays awesome. Needed a bit of oil on the fretboard. Was pretty dry.

To start, I play guitar because I like it, not because I am good at it. At the tender age of 63 I have a little over a year on stringed instruments and started with a bass, tried a six string and loved it, and I’ve had a yen for trying out a twelve for fun. I’d been playing twelves at local shops but I wasn’t ready to drop $500 on a sometimes instrument. As I was perusing the Amazon site I saw that this Fender was only $210, reduced from its usual $299. After a few hours of consideration I hit the button. I have had five Fenders and am a fan of their acoustics as they are good instruments for the price, and look cool.
It arrived two days later in its original box. On opening it I saw that it was in pristine condition. I removed the plastic and strummed and it sounded awful. Quick research on the web told me that often twelve strings are detuned before shipping, especially if there is air travel involved. It took awhile, but I finally got it in tune after I realized how. Tune the top two in unison, the next two in unison, then tune the remaining thick strings to a normal tune. The thin strings go an octave higher. If you don’t know (and I didn’t) just keep tuning up until you hit the next E, A, D, and G. Once it was in tune it sounded good. It has held a tune fairly well since.
By good I mean that it sounds good for a $300 guitar and will never hit the sounds of a top end twelve, but it is good enough for my playing abilities. Hotel California sounds amazing on it. The sound is a bit high pitched, but that can easily be solved with different strings. Plugged in it sounded nice and still retained that nice acoustic sound.
Overall, I would buy this guitar again. It’s a good entry level twelve and will probably satisfy my needs for some time. It also looks good hanging on that wall. On a side note, the 9 volt battery that came with it died in a day, easily replaced.
Update- The more I play this instrument, the more I like it. My son in law was over and he liked it so much he ordered one. Grab one before the price goes back up again.

First time playing a12 string guitar. This Fender model is flawless. Was not expecting such an awesome sound for the price. I tuned it to a D standard tuning and wow! Feels and sounds amazing. I’m so glad I did not spend thousands of dollars. Fisherman tuner made tuning easy and ready to play quickly. Wow, wow, and wow!

I decided to purchase the Fender CD60SCE-12 when I saw it was on sale. The guitar was packaged well and arrived in pristine condition. Solid spruce top and looks great. Tuners are smooth. Once tuned up, this guitar sings! Really nice tone. The set-up out of the bow is excellent. The neck is very comfortable and really helps playability. Been playing for about 56 years off and on. This is my first 12 string. It has shown me that a 12 string requires you to be more precise in your fingering and picking, but your efforts will be rewarded!

Wow, UPS just delivered my $349 Fender CD-60SCE-12 Dreadnought 12 string guitar two days early and the box is designed so well that the guitar (with no case), arrived on Maui, HI perfect !! I put my strong Kyser 12 string capo on the second fret because I tune down my guitar to make it play easier. I opened Youtube and typed in, Tune Your 12 String Guitar [Easy Way], this will make sure you are on all of the correct octaves in E tune and will not break any strings tuning. Just tune the guitar with the capo on it. I can’t believe how nice this guitar plays for the price, I love it !! I am very happy with all of the hardware and craftsmanship and finish. I put the battery in and plugged it in to the amp. Really clean and clear sounds and then added some effects. I don’t turn up my treble to much when I plugged in a 12 — this clears any string buzz.
So I hope you can tell how happy I am with this purchase !! Awesome 12 string production from Fender.
