Fluentish is a book for those autodidactic language learners, who struggle with plateauing, building a learning routine or bringing the vocab and newly understood grammar into the real world. It’s a daily incentive to actually use your language to talk about what really interests you and to widen your understanding a little every day. The revision tools and handy questions are great too and what I love most is that this is usable for pretty much every language you might want to learn (except sign languagea oc) – especially for those rare tongues for which you can’t easily find tandem learners to talk to! Looking at you, Hawaiian! Yes, that’s what I’m using mine for. And I have a similar promt diary in a Harry Potter Ravenclaw style. Not as good as this one, cause I wasn’t made for language training, but Fluentish gave me the idea to use it in a similar way for my Latin learning endeavours. As it’s my goal to read HP in Latin and I’m working my way through the first volume, I figured this would work just fine. So go ahead, get yourself a Fluentish book and\or a prompt diary and start scribbling in your newest language!

This is the kind of tool that will help you do the work every day. 💪 It takes just a little bit of creativity to customize your study routine, but then the follow-up is smooth! Love it! ❤️ I am on day #6 since I started using this planner/tracker/journal and I am enjoying it a lot! I recommend! When I finish it with my current target language, I may want to start all over again with another language. 😅

Like the author, I also love learning languages, but I had no real system. This book gives me a very effective system to boost my language acquisition!

I have been working on learning a new language (Italian), and I’ve struggled with staying consistent and really growing my knowledge. This journal is perfect for learning! It has everything I need – goals, space to practice/take notes, a vocab section, verb conjugation section, and a journaling section. This has already helped me so much – it was exactly what I was looking for to stay on track with my language learning! I will be getting one of these for every language I’m working on for sure.

My friend told me she wanted to re-start practicing her French. I found this and gifted it to her for her birthday. The journal looks great but you have to be ready for it; it seems like it can be really useful but it’s got a lot of work for you to do and you’ll have to commit.

This is the BEST journal for organization and learning purposes. Her instagram highlights show how to use it effectively, and even if you don’t have an instagram, it’s pretty self explanatory. The journaling piece has definitely got me farther in my language learning journey than anything else. I highly recommend!

This journal is beautiful, and it is extremely helpful.
I am now on my 2nd book.

For the people complaining about all of the planning pages, it’s literally called a journal and planner. It’s very helpful in terms of tracking habits and giving you space to create (and commit to) goals. Outside of the journaling section, my favorite parts are the goal setting section and the note-taking section because it stops me from needing multiple books. There are even fill-in calendars, so you can list your tutoring sessions, group meet-ups, exam dates, etc. I also love how the journaling section has prompts at various levels and how they aren’t pre-written on the pages. This allows learners to write prompts specific to their interests and their levels. Jo also has a 21 day language journaling challenge that has completely different prompts than the ones in the book, so you can do the challenge, use the ones in the book, or find your own- and it just works.

You can tell that she put her heart into this book. As a fellow language learner and master planner, this book keeps me on track and makes me happy. Flipping through the pages and seeing them go from empty to filled is just a single glimpse at your progress as a learner and journaler.

The book also has “before you use the journal” and “after you used it” reflection sections, a resources section, monthly reflection section, monthly advice and recommendations for learning, and some more things that you’ll just have to buy the book to see. I hope you love it 😁.

I decided to get back to learning Spanish and decided to get this book. It’s beautiful, well made and very detailed. So much to track and organize with this book.

I’ve been studying a second language for the better part of 2 decades, but lately have needed help to make the jump from “can read signs and ask/answer basic questions” to “can have a real conversation”. Duolingo just hasn’t been useful to me because I already have a good grammar & vocabulary base, and I found it hard to progress forward by just doing the digital equivalent of flash cards. I really like journaling and thought the concept for this one was interesting. I feel like (at least for me) when it comes to learning a language, both putting ink on paper and being able to physically flip through my notes are super helpful for retaining information. So far, I’m really enjoying it; I like the breakdown of each section to keep things organized, so it’s not just chaotically scribbling everything all on the same page. However, it IS basically just a glorified bullet journal. So when it’s full, I think I will buy a blank dot grid notebook and set up sections based on which aspects of this journal that I’m using the most.

It wasn’t until AFTER I ordered the journal that I learned this woman isn’t just peddling an app, she actually applies to this real life. I then went and checked out her YT channel and I am so irritated that I didn’t know who she was before! This journal is exactly what I’ve been needing. I love how she maps out the goals so that you can see the visual of why you’re learning. I love the tracker so that you can see how often you’re keeping up your studying and practice, the prompts, the journaling, the verb conjugation, I love everything. I’ve had this book all but 10 minutes and I’m already planning on buying another for my 3rd language.

My only “complaint” is I wish that there were more pages for verb conjugations BUT I have already found a journal dedicated to nothing but words. It’s the Pikka journal that can pick up where this journal left off.

I have a feeling that I’ll be able to look back on this in a couple of years and actually see my progress and I love that for me. Jo and this journal are super motivating and I have a new outlook on my journey thanks to this journey that helps me visualize my dream of being somewhat bilingual. Highly recommend.

First of all, the quality of the book is just insane! it looks like it was meticulously crafted to make every detail count.

At its core, this book ingeniously combines structure and practical techniques that will help me follow and review my improvement, discover myself in a different language, and unlock a new way of thinking through prompts that the book generously provides. As a culinary enthusiast, I believe that consistent use of this method will elevate my food storytelling in different languages!

I’ve just filled in the first two sections and I’m already visualizing how this is going to roll, I definitely recommend it!
