This was a great build! I started collecting this Harbortown series because I like the look of the buildings, and the detail. Be prepared, because it’s larger than it looks! Base plate is 15″ x 15″, and the tip of the flagpole is 21.5″ tall. There is also an overhang of the pier of about 2″. (Note: There is also an overhang on the Boat House Diner, so be careful when you place the finished buildings next to each other.) I now have four of the six sets, and will definitely be getting the last two soon.
I’ve purchased a few other large building kits from General Jim’s, and love every one of them. I’ve contacted the company a few times for minor things (no instructions on the lighting kits, I lost the instructions on a small kit during a move, and requested a copy, etc), and their response was always quick, courteous, and very helpful. Having worked in the Customer Service field for over 40 years, with at least three major companies, I judge businesses by their Customer Service Department. This company’s service is impeccable! If I could give two separate Five Star ratings, I would. One for the products, and one for the service.

This was a great build. Generally very sturdy. Quality is similar to LEGO. I would recommend building the roof separately and then attaching the whole roof to the structure. I was missing two parts, but contacted General Jim’s and I received replacement parts within a week. Their customer service is fantastic. Highly recommended.

The bricks are medium quality with flashing and bad fit on some, especially the 1X1 rounds. The printing on the bricks is crisp and clear. Now for the bad part. I do not think they have anyone build these kits before they release them. Unsupported structures, building on to a blank plates, and frustratingly bad design. I added about 100 extra parts to fix their design and ended up with a nice sturdy model. If you have some spare Legos sitting around, don’t be afraid to use a few.
