I really love this new smaller edition of the GoPro cameras! First off, the camera feels very well made and doesn’t feel cheap. It has a little weight to it for it’s size, but is still very easy to hold and mount as needed. I was actually very surprised by the overall size of this camera. It definitely looks bigger in photos. This camera comes with a few accessories which are all GoPro branded and feel strong and sturdy. There is no case included with this camera, which isn’t a deal breaker by any means, but something to keep it protected when not in use would have been nice.
The camera itself is very easy to use and operate. The built in, bright touch screen really helps with this and is also very responsive and fairly easy to see in direct sunlight. You can also use the app to change settings as needed, too (there aren’t many). The app itself is well designed and also easy to navigate.
There are 3 modes to this camera. That’s it. Because of this, it’s great for beginners or for someone who needs quick, easy to use 4K without having to adjust settings, etc. before shooting.
The 4K/30 FPS video quality is excellent and honestly, the best I have seen on an action camera at this price point, so far. While filming in 4K/30 the camera does get a little warm, but it hasn’t shut itself off yet, at least for me. The quality of the images is excellent and very clear and crisp. Even low light images aren’t terrible on this camera. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not anything like the day time images, however, for an action camera, it’s really not awful. The built in microphones record good audio for an action camera and is extremely usable for most projects.
The electronic image stabilization is excellent and in my opinion, is better then some gimbals. Keep in mind, there is no built in stabilization within the camera. It gets applied when viewed and exported from the app. So each video will need to be “processed” before exporting. To my surprise, this doesn’t take long and it works really well. It’s just another step before the video can used for whatever you might be working on.
The battery life on this is pretty good and it really depends on your settings that will determine how long it will last. Filming in the highest setting (4K/30), the more battery this is going to use. They include the newer enduro battery inside which works better in extreme temperatures and provides more shooting time. The battery is built in and cannot be swapped for another battery. It will need to be charged through the camera itself. It doesn’t take too long to charge and can be charged with a power bank while on the go. It can also be used while charging which helps.
All things considered, I really like this camera and it is priced quite well for the overall quality it provides. It’s one of those cameras you can just grab and go with. It’s quick and super simple to get high quality 4K video in a pretty lightweight and very small package.

Failed straight out of the box.. Very typical of a gopro camera. It claims to need an update before you can use it, freezes during update, and now won’t do anything. Flashing led lights is as much as I get. Gave gopro one more chance and it failed miserably.. Don’t waste money on an untested product.

So this is my first foray into the world of action cams. It’s kind of amazing how small devices have become, and yet the video quality they support is still very impressive. I do feel like the GoPro Hero 2024 has a few shortcomings, but its size and ease-of-use still make it a fairly attractive “budget” option if the higher end models are out of your price-point.
To start with some positives, the Hero 2024 is impressively tiny and lightweight. I hardly even notice it whenever I need to mount it somewhere inconvenient, like on my chest or helmet. Also, because of the tiny footprint, it fits into small spaces where even phones might have trouble reaching, so you’re able to get some really nice angles on action shots. Build-quality is top notch as well. It feels like I can drop off the side of a mountain and it would still be in one piece once it stopped rolling. The screen might crack, and I might have to replace the lens cover, but I’m willing to bet it would still work perfectly fine. Additionally, it’s super easy to use. It only has 3 modes, so even the most tech-illiterate person could probably figure it out easily enough. Lastly, I had no issues setting it up out of the box. It takes a minute to download the app and install the firmware updates, but it’s a speedy process compared to other devices with the same requirements. Like, I remember my Sony earbuds taking FOREVER to set up. The Hero, on the other hand, was much quicker in that regard.
So there are a few negatives from what I can tell. For one, the Hero 2024 doesn’t have a front facing screen, which does make vlogging more inconvenient. Also, there isn’t a lot of features. At best, it’s only capable of 4k 30 fps, and it only has a fixed F2.3 aperture at 15mm fisheye, so no zooming… only cropping. Additionally, it has a non-removable battery, so it’s not capable of swapping to back-ups. So you may want to have a battery bank handy in order to keep it topped off. Lastly, I feel like the price is a bit high, especially considering what it’s capable of. Like I would probably recommend paying a bit more for a higher end model if you can afford it. However, If you have a specific budget and are looking for a simple device to record video with, then this should be good enough for most people. 4/5 stars

As a new GoPro user I was coming in with no prior experience so first things off, packing was good, has everything you need to start. This is the GoPro Hero that is 4K and is very very tiny. Getting it connected seemed like a chore, I’m tech savvy so I expect things to work when following directions. It failed numerous times on connecting and I didn’t even touch anything else then it suddenly works. I did the update which took a minute, thing was hot to touch when I was trying to keep it charged while getting it to sync to my phone. Everything is a bit on the slow side, I’ve had things running way faster. Everything seems to revolve around the Subscription service and everything else is slow, your best bet is to take the microsd out and use an adapter if you want to access it as it will take a long time to transfer onto your phone via bluetooth/wifi. Quality is alright, took it with me hiking, had a head mount and it worked fine. Didn’t drain as fast as I thought it would but I also put the brightness down and screen saver on. No point in going battery saver (1080p mode) if you go bought it for the 4K.
I would get this if you want something small and simple but battery is still on the lacking side. If you’re doing a lot of action maybe opt for the larger versions but again I’m not sold on the whole subscription thing they try to shove in your face the moment you get it. Overall its good for what it does, everything else is okay.
