This voip base station works very well. It was easy to set up and get working. Although it would be good if the outbound routes were completely separated from the inbound routes, as it is, even when you have a default outbound route, when you go to return a call it wants to use the same route that the call came in on. It would be better if it handled call routing like the Obihai ATA’s, or the Snom Dect system. However, the handsets that go with this are up to what you would expect with an office phone system and are much nicer the the Snom handsets. The sound quality is very good as well as the responsiveness. Also, this is probably the best unit for the money. Also, you will want to upgrade to the beta firmware to get the latest features and a couple of decent ringtones. The default ringtone is probably the worst default ringtone for a handset that I have heard.
However, this is the first VOIP Dect system that has been good enough to replace the ATA / POTS Dect system combos that I have been using previously without breaking the bank.

I was a little skeptical of this system at first due to the price difference between it and other similar products. However for the price I figured i’d give it a try. I just got it today and set it up with my FreePBX system without too much fuss. As others have mentioned you have to change the firmware url to firmware.grandstream.com. Once thats done it downloaded and updated my base station and handset.
I created a new extension in FreePBX and pointed the Base station to FreePBX with the appropriate credentials and everything came up beautifully. My wife is super happy now that she isnt tethered to an old Polycom I ordered on ebay.
One thing that took me a while to find was that the settings were not saving correctly on the Web GUI while using Chrome. I had to switch to Edge to get the settings to save. It took me two hours of trying to configure this thing and finally I found someone in a forum mentioning having to use a different browser. Had I known about the browser issue I would have had this thing configured in under 15 minutes

Nice product. Everything works, but wasted my money on this and matching cordless phone I bought at the same time, based on the fact that they don’t serve my area. Pittsburgh PA

It works great.

Great quality and works great. Glad that it doesn’t freeze up like my old phone system which had to be restarted every few days.

I got 2 DP720’s and the DP750 to connect to a local Asterisk (w/FreePBX) server and it works fine. I created an extension in Asterisk and pointed the DP750 to that extension and viola! The firmware updating of the DP750 was a little funky. I had to do change the “Firmware Server Path” to “firmware.grandstream.com” and save and reboot. Then, sometime later I was clicking around and it went unresponsive, since I guess it downloaded the firmware finally. Anyway, once it updated, both handsets upgraded, one after another. So far, I love it.

assigning accounts to the sets is not very straight forward

I’ve had five DP750’s at 5 different restaurants with 3 handsets in place for about 2 months now. If I could I would return them, but unfortunately I spent too much time trying to make them work and it’s too late to send them back.
The price is definitely a big plus. Roughly $50 for the base unit and $50 for each handset, buy what you need as you need it. The feature set seems kind of basic. For example there’s no way to disable the missed calls notification or to lock the handset settings down. For the price, I’m willing to accept that.
Haven’t had any issues with the sound quality or build quality. Perfectly fine all around.
Have had ongoing problems with them crashing, and STAYING crashed. I could tolerate the occasional crash if some sort of watchdog service rebooted the device. Instead, the DP750 crashes, calls stop coming in, and an hour or three later the restaurant calls asking me to see what’s wrong. That means orders missed and money lost.
At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how good or cheap or whatever something is if it doesn’t work reliably. And these don’t. Truly wish I could get a refund and buy another brand. My first and last Grandstream adventure. I wouldn’t chance buying the brand again.
Update: It’s now a year later. We’ve begun replacing them with
Yealink – W60P – Dect Base and Handset Package
I put in smart plugs to reboot them every morning. That cut down the number of crashes during business hours to one or two a month. Yay. Still crashing. Grandstream doesn’t seem to care. What bugs me is that otherwise no problems. And at about $50 per handset, replacing them when they went swimming in the sauce or the sink or the wash bucket (seriously, they did) was bearable. Ring tones could have been better and louder. Still wish we could have disabled missed calls and locked the settings down. But the core functions and quality were fine…except for the crashing. I don’t understand why Grandstream never addressed it. But I say with certainty that I’ll never buy the brand again. At least not their cheaper devices. I’ve been told the pricey stuff is great. Except that if it’s going into the sauce, I want the cheap stuff. That works.
