After purchasing a large amount of Hartz products for my dad’s new puppy, I came across a social media post where a woman was crying saying a Hartz product had killed her dog. After seeing this I read the comments and did a days worth of research on the brand Hartz and the products they make. I found out that for the most part the products were safe, but if a person has a dog that digests their bath water or if you give your dog frequent baths and the product possibly gets in their nose or eyes this in turn could have adverse affects and possibly cause death. I too gave my (dad’s) puppy a bath, and I would have never thought something so simple as trying to keep him clean, could harm him. I reached out to Hartz after this and their employee working their poison hotline was very helpful and informative, he told me that symptoms of poison usually show up in the first 24 hours and if 48 hours have passed, the my friend should be fine. I reached out to the staff at a petsmart pet hospital and I was told because I’d only used the product on my friend once, he should be fine.
While this is all great and it has been about 3 weeks since my friend had any interaction with this product line, my dissatisfaction isn’t with the product, it’s them not disclosing the possibility of the adverse reactions that could be presented. When you purchase prescriptions they give you warnings of possible side effects. This product, nor none of the sellers that carry these products give any disclosure of what could happen to your (furry family members) from simply bathing them and it’s not as if our ffm can tell us something is wrong. This is a big deal and it needs to be taken more seriously. Please do your research before purchasing pet care products from Hartz or any brand, I love my furry family members and hope these products are removed soon. So for the lack of concern -4 stars

I have three dogs that I usually buy the flea and tick pills for but I needed something cheaper temporarily. The pills I buy are $25 and last 3 months. The collars weren’t even $4 and are supposed to last for 7-8 months. I honestly wasn’t expecting them to do much but I was pleasantly surprised. We live in the country on a farm where they run around freely. We had been having a horrible issue with ticks. But once the collars were on for over 48 hours I’ve not gotten another tick off them. They didn’t have any fleas before I put the collars on them so I can’t say how they work for fleas. We’ve never had an issue with fleas since we moved here. I haven’t seen even one flea on them even when the pills wore off and ticks were crazy so there must not be any in the area. I did notice that one of my dogs seems to scratch more for a few days after I put the collar on him. But he doesn’t have an issue now. It’s been a couple months since they started wearing the collars and they’re doing so well that I’m thinking this is what we will do for fleas and ticks from now on. As long as they continue to work anyway. If they work for the 7-8 months it says I will have saved around $200. That’s freaking crazy! Even if they don’t work the 7-8 months they’re supposed to, it’s been well worth the money. The only issue I have had with the collars so far is when we first put them in the dogs they kept coming off them. The latch isn’t great. With my lab we tied something around the collar so it couldn’t slip back out the latch because his kept coming off. Probably with help from him. The others stayed in place after putting them back on once. It’s really not the worst problem but annoying because we would have to hunt the collar down. That’s why I gave only 4 stars instead of 5

The tick collar is useless…it’svery thin and totally ineffective. Looks like the anti-tixk medicine is not working at all. I want to get my money back….and return it. Very upset with this purchase. My dog is still picking ticks whereas with the other brand it never happened like this.

Our dog hates big collars but this one fit easy around her neck and didn’t have too bad of a smell. She has been less itchy and also it’s stayed on nicely. I would get this again for sure.

I saw some negative reviews and was worried the good reviews were all fake. This collar rid my small dog of fleas in a week. He was infested! Be sure to actually activate the collar by pulling it as described on the box. It took a few days but definitely saw results and no irritation. (Applehead chihuahua)

we use these to wrap the legs of our pet feeders, to keep ants from climbing into feed bowl. works well. we also cut some up and put them in outdoor electric boxes to keep geckos out. little critters kept shorting out our well pump by climbing into box and frying the wires
