Even though it is manual cooker, use it weekly. Perfect size for 1 or 2 servings. My daughter ❤️ this for chicken. I use it make beans. Once I got how 2 use, I haven’t stopped using it.
in flagrante delicto –
Size is perfect for two or extra large portion for one. Contura stainless steel 2 litre pressure cooker well worth the money. You will use it more often because of its size and amazing flavours. A little awkward to get food out of rounded top, but I suspect this is what traps in those amazing flavours.
Great for college student or as a wedding gift that will actually be used. Great uses for van lifers and campers as well; fast food and versatile application. Great quality product made in India where it is a staple cooking tool.

Ever since I bought this expensive cooker, it has not worked properly. No whistle, steam, water escapes all around the lid. Have changed genuine rubber gasket many times. Even had someone purchase gasket from India. Pretty much do not use it. I am finally tired of this defective product & am writing this review. My other larger size cooker has never given me any issues! Wasted my money on this defective product from a reputed brand!

It’s Hawkins so quality is good but the opening is small esp the smaller litre ones. Also, because the opening has a curve, things/food gets stuck there and is difficult to clean.

Muy buena calidad, quedan con mejor sabor los alimentos a diferencia del aluminio que cambia y contamina la comida.

I’ve used it several times for beans and beef stew. It works as expected.
I had a similar Hawkins cooker of the small capacity (for singe servings) that was aluminium and not suitable for the induction cooktop.
Brilliant stainless steel finish and very nice large cookbook is included.
The two liter size is very convenient for small meals and dishes and heats up to pressure very quickly.
Highly recommended.

This is my favorite pressure cooker. WMF 3 litre and WMF 6 litre pressure cookers are my two other pressure cookers. The WMF pressure cookers are very nice and very quiet. The six litre WMF is for large meat dishes or whole chickens. The 3 litre WMF is fine but still a little large for a single person. The Hawkins is a snap to use. Once you get the snap of centering the lid to get pressure it is amazing! Pressure is easier to maintain with the Hawkins once at pressure the valve is very quiet. The Hawkins has a spring valve as well. The WMF pressure cookers make a very disturbing noise when the pressure is getting to high. The Hawkins will his a little before it lets off a large burst of steam. You will learn when to lower the heat. With the WMF pressure cookers you are constantly playing with the heat. The Hawkins has a very heavy bottom but I do believe a heat diffuser would help. Very little water escapes. India has great technology. I see no reason to spend money on high dollar pressure cookers anymore. The Hawkins is very well made.

It’s small. That’s what I wanted.
However, I have several deal-breaking problems with it.
First, the pressure release happens very suddenly and violently. Instead of releasing a small/tiny amount often, it releases a huge amount infrequently.
It doesn’t matter much what setting my induction stove is on. The pressure build and then, Krakatoa. Then, I have to get the cat’s claws released from the ceiling, and grab a new pair of undies. It’s violent, and extremely loud.
There should not be hysteresis in the pressure! The weigh thingy has some grab to it, instead of just being a dead weight.
Also, when it blows, the pressure inside drops a lot, and then starts building again. So temperature/pressure is varying a lot instead of being constant, which is what you want.
Also, there is a very metallic smell to it, that I can’t seem to get rid of. My rice smelled and tasted like metal even after washing/cleaning with everything I could think of, like baking soda, soap, and vinegar in succession.
For the rather exorbitant price, I expect it to work without breaking the sound barrier, and making my food taste horrible.
It’s a good buy if you either want to waste time returning it, or work on the serious problem of trying to fill our landfills.
But don’t cook with it.
