Hercules & Xena

Finally! It took me YEARS to find this movie… I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out the name. I only remembered so much of it as a child. I only remembered something about Titans, matching the elements…and well that was pretty much it. GLAD i found the movie! Thanks to google xD gotta love the ability to search things up using only your memory! Rewetting this movie as an adult, I have forgotten pretty much 99 percent of the movie. But once the parts surfaced that sparked a reminder.. it was awesome! that nostalgic like feeling that brought me back to a simpler, happier time in my life… and that was childhood!

Graphics are totally dated, but the story is actually a good one. Most of the characters, in my opinion, don’t look anything like they really do – but then that’s typical of most cartoons. Take it for what it is. If you like Hercules, Xena and Gabrielle, Ares, Aphrodite, and watching the Gods meddle and get SOME of what’s coming to them – it’s a good thing to watch. Don’t expect a “Xena” episode or a “Hercules” episode. It’s not that. It’s a Saturday morning cartoon version of Herc and Xena.

But honestly, I enjoyed it. But then I’m nutty over Herc and Xena. Love both shows. And I like all the characters and I like all the actors. And I actually happen to like cartoons. Yes, I’m an adult and I like cartoons – sue me. 🙂

If you don’t expect a typical episode or a movie – you’ll like it. But truly, if you can’t stand cartoons – or never liked the shows – don’t buy it. This is something good for the fans who do like those things.

Again – not the greatest graphics, but typical for that time period. And the story, as I said, is actually not bad. Gabrielle and some of the Gods are turned into animals. And it’s up to Hercules and Xena to figure out a way to get them back. Xena gets pissed, of course, and she sings in this – so it was worth it for me to buy it just for that – Lucy has a great voice. The song isn’t Bitter Suite caliber – but it’s cute.

I read the negative reviews and I just think, “It’s a CARTOON! What did you expect?” Seriously, I love Xena and so does my five-year old daughter. When she wants to watch Xena, this is the Xena I don’t have to watch with the DVD remote in hand to “jump” over scenes that are inappropriate for her age.

It’s a cute movie. All the negative remarks about the animation are probably from people who are jaded by CGI. The plot was creative and the characters remained in character. The fact that they got the original actors to voice the characters probably helps. Besides, we get hear Lucy Lawless sing and that is always a treat as far as I am concerned.

this movie is simply wonderful as it uses great animation combined with 3 musical songs with the original voices from Xena warrior princess and hurcules.
this is a good addition and extension to any collection especialy if you already own the Xena Box set.
the story is of elemental titans based on earth wind fire and water who are released to reak havoc upon everyday man set in the medieval times eventualy a jelious god uses the titans to attack mount olympus where its up to Xena and a reluctant hurcules to stop them. hurcules believes that zeus has kidnapped his mother and is angered to begin with and Xena has to venture to mount olympus to save her friend gabriel to restore her back to human form after being turned into a bird. the gods themselves are also turned into various creatures zeus as a mouse for instance makes for some amusing scenes.
the opeining song and animation of how hurcules was born and part history of the gods is enchanting overal this film is very good for both children and adults with a mixture of great voice acting and animation and music.
i would recomend this title to anyone.
