i have this hygger on my 3 gallon and one of those cheap sub 10 dollar aquarium lights on my 1 gallon tank next to my 3 gallon. is like the hygger is 1080p while my 1 gallon with the cheap light is like 420p. i have a huge chunk of rose quartz in my 1 gallon and i can’t even tell it is pink because of the yellow cast on everything in that tank!!. this hygger light is making my water lettuce grow really well. my pennywort loves it too and repens is doing well. the algae growth on my cheap light is also getting out of control while my hygger tank looks clean enough. if you have a smol planted out tank i think this light is enough for medium high, medium, and low light plants. there is one plant in the tank thats not absolutely thriving but thats my fault for getting a mixed mystery plant package from someone off ebay without telling them it’s not for a huge deep tank. i think i am going to use the cheap one elsewhere, maybe a baby fish fry tank as it creates alot of algae for the fry and other things to pick at.

Some people report that this works with a rimmed tank; it didn’t on my 30”-long, 29g tank. I had to insert a 3/8” spacer in the clamps to get this to fit properly. I have included 2 pictures to show this. The spacers were cut from a sheet of closed cell foam usually sold as a mat for nano tanks. Once installed on the tank, I find that the light, in “Daylight mode” is quite bright on the highest setting, enough light to induce pearling on the bottom plants. The daylight timer mode requires that you start it at the time of day you want the cycle to begin; it will repeat at that time on subsequent days. The construction is good, with the lighting enclosure milled from aluminum, which is both strong, and acts as a heat-sink for the lights, which do get warm. The lighting control is minimal, but not completely unintuitive. I don’t intend to use the various colors which can be selected, but there are several choices available if that’s your thing; they are selected by pressing repeatedly the on/off button. Overall, this is a good value for the cost. (I’m reviewing the 26W light).

I rated this 3 stars due to several issues I’ve hard with my light, though I wish there was half stars so I would give 3.5. When I received the unit the buttons on the controls were extremely hard to press in order to change through modes or turn on. So hard in fact that my hands hurt trying to press it. The only way I was able to remedy this defect was to press it with something hard and sharp, which then left an indent in the controls and then made it easier for me to press it with no issue. I realize my light was probably the odd one out with this issue. The plastic screws that hold it up are extremely hard to twist into the holes of the base or out of. This also hurts my hands. I wish this light didn’t cause so much physical pain towards me. It also doesnt have a timer like the large Hygger I have on my 40 gallon tank, in which you can press the button to phase through the cycles of the day. The timer is self-paced so you have to set it at whatever time you need it to accordingly because it only has 3, 6, and 9 hour timing options with no way to skip through different phases of a 24 hour cycle like my larger other model does. This is something that I really wish this model had. Nonetheless, it’s a beautiful light, and Hygger’s products are usually of very top quality. There are just a few quips I have with the way this model was made, but it still serves as a fine bright light for planted aquariums. Hopefully others don’t face the same issues.

I absolutely love this light, it’s cheaper than most and works for big tanks which I don’t find too often. I have a 120 gallon rimmed tank and unfortunately the clip doesn’t go around the rim of the tank, I’m sure there’s a way to figure it out but for now I have it between the wall and the rim of the tank and it’s staying pretty well, it’s been a few months and it holds up nicely. I haven’t used the night or day setting yet but from what I’ve seen from the one time I did use it, it works pretty good.

I have a 14 gallon rimless cube that I got this light for and it is great, however I did have a couple issues with the day and night setting on it, the day time lights will only come on if you also set up the night time lights, the tank is on my bedside table and I was afraid the night time lights would be too bright to sleep through so I only wanted the day time lights, it took me a couple days setting up because I couldn’t figure out why the day time lights weren’t coming on, but you have to set up the night time lights as well. Other than that putting it together and setting it up on the tank was extremely easy, one more thing I wish it came with some kind of rubber gasket so that the screws aren’t sitting on the glass. Other than that this light is pretty good for the price.

I was totally sold, over the reviews I read. Price was great, product looked cool and then the impossible. I even reviewed videos on the instructions on settings and after I finally got it to turn on, it shut off completely. Let it sit for 24 hours hoping it’d catch on to the automatic timer and nothing. I replaced it with a Fluval, shipped it back and got a complete refund.

I love this light and timer the only thing that kinda sucks is you can’t adjust the blue and red lights like other lights I’ve had. Other than that it is a great light and great color.

I have a 14 gallon cube. That is about 16” this hygger light fits great and has plenty of light power to reach my plants. I did add a little cardboard pice where the clamps screw into the glass tank. Supplying a foam piece or something like that would be a great idea @hygger.
