This is the only urinary tract health cat food one of my cats can eat without throwing up. I needed to switch to one because she got urinary crystals that were making it uncomfortable for her to go. I tried several other brands that all looked similar to each other (more yellowish instead of the usual dark brown) and all of them made her throw up. This one doesn’t, she apparently likes the taste and it cleared up her problem in just a couple of weeks so I’m keeping my cats on this food. As a bonus it’s much less expensive than the previous brand I was feeding my cats.

Due to our cat having crystals, we have been buying Vet recommended “PRESCRIPTION” Royal Canin’s dry and wet food for several years. We love our little boy and of course we want the best for him. I read one review, where they noted their SEVENTEEN pound bag of Royal Canin cost SEVENTY some dollars in 2018 or 2019…Well IT COSTS THAT MUCH FOR A SEVEN pound bag now in 2024 and has for some time! Another review mentioned how they thought the IAMS urinary tract Health smells offensive. It smells perfectly fine. Just let them smell some prescription dry and wet foods sometime. I bet they changed their minds fairly fast. Another issue I have with the prescription cat food and this has bugged me for a very long time, are the ingredients. The main ingredients of the prescription foods are the things that we tried to avoid in the first place for your cat’s health. One time I called the vet concerned about the ingredients and she had a major meltdown for me asking questions. Apparently i offended her to the soul. I have no idea if I’ve made the right decision or not, only time will tell. But one day I said enough is enough and I decided to try IAMS urinary tract dry cat food for my cat. Didn’t have to transition him from old food to new. He loves the IAMS. Sometimes I even add a tiny bit of water to it. He has his own little filtered water machine as well. Since eating the IAMS, he doesn’t puke very often either and he seems more contented. Also another thing I find quite interesting, NOT ONCE has our vet mentioned having our cat tested for the crystals again. I guess as long as we kept buying the vet’s prescription food, our cat would be healthy and our vet would as happy as can be! I truly am beginning to think the prescription vet recommended cat food is a scam.
PLEASE NOTE! You definitely need To be sure your cat stays hydrated To avoid the issue of crystals. Besides the dry Iams food, we also gave him moist food in the form of pate. I usually alternate dry kibble sprinkled with some water and then later some pate.
UPDATE: I DIDN’T MENTION THIS BEFORE, (assuming everyone knows to clean their cat’s food dish after each feeding), but when feeding dry with a little water in it, bacteria can grow and might make him sick. YOU REALLY NEED TO CLEAN CAT’S FOOD DISHES THOROUGHLY, ESPECIALLY THE DRY WITH WATER!!!!!!!

Last year one of my cats was diagnosed with FLUTD. It took me a long time to find a dry cat food that all the cats in my home liked and was appropriate for the FLUTD cat. Iams urinary formula is the one LOVED by all my cats, both the healthy and sick ones.

My cat with FLUTD has not been sick since eating this food. He’s the fussiest of them all and he LOVES it. Gets very upset when the bowl is empty.

[Desert lynx cat pictured eating Iams urinary formula does not have FLUTD but loves it too]

Our 7 year old male has had some urinary issues. He is doing well on this brand. The Hill’s Prescription diet Urinary Care c/d costs more than twice as much! As long as our boys continue to be healthy, we’re sticking with this.

My boys eat this like it is candy so I actually feed it to them as a treat now instead of Temptations. They have another kind of food for their regular diet.

We love this food brand to help keep our kitties healthy from UTIs however with three cats, the small bag at target wasn’t cutting it. We spent $20 on a bag not even half smaller! This is a great deal for how much you get, keeps your cats urinary health up, the smell is good, and my cats love it!

The Vet recommended this food when I took a cat in because it was having issues going to the bathroom. Many dry cat foods cause male cats to develop crystals in their urine making it painful for them to go. Since switching to this food 4-5 years ago, have not had any issues. Cat has been healthy. He likes the food. And no matter what bag size you choose, it can be easily stored into plastic containers to maintain freshness and making feeding simple.
