First, I’d like to say that the first set of Jiffy pots I received worked great for my urban garden. I can start the seeds in the Jiffy pods, then transfer to the Jiffy pods after they get 2″ tall, then keep them under a grow light until sturdy enough to handle the high-rise balcony that is my garden. This process help to ensure a good tight root ball that helps my plants to be as sturdy as possible in the unpredictable Spring of the Mid-Atlantic region. I would suggest breaking up the bottom of the peet pots when planting them into the ground (or in my case a container) so that the roots can escape and extend down into the ground/container as it gets bigger.
HOWEVER, when I ordered another package this year, I noticed they were not quite the same. If you look at the picture I have provided, you’ll see the one on the left (which was the first set of Jiffy pots I ordered) has a lip at the top that makes it look like the shape of a clay pot. The one on the right (the second set I ordered) has no lip AND the peet pot seems to be of an inferior quality. I pot approximately the same amount of water in the two pots shown in the picture and you can see the one on the left (the newer inferior ones) are soaked and flimsy whereas the original Jiffy pots remain sturdy after multiple watering. THUS, I have concluded that either Jiffy has fundamentally changed their product, OR the second ones I received are some cheap knock off. I’m inclined to believe the latter.
These are usable but definitely not what I paid for.
SO BUYER BEWARE!!! YOU MAY BE GETTING A GENERIC PRODUCT PACKAGED AS A NAME BRAND.
~~This is my opinion and only my opinion. I do not accept refunds, discounts, or free merchandise in exchange for writing, editing, or altering my reviews.~~

Great price. Great value. Decent sized pots for plants. Used to have a group of kids plant some seeds. They have held up great and seeds have taken off. Would recommend

I have been starting my tomato seeds in these JIFFY-POTS for over 10 years. When I planted seed this April I found I didn’t have enough cups. Panic set in but I found a SIMILAR product at the local hardware. As time went by I noted that some of my plants looked feeble and small. Some looked so bad that I added new seed to some cups even though I knew it was very late in the season to try that. I was desperate. I’m in Minnesota and it’s almost time to put these in the ground. Today I recognized that every hardware store pot has a stunted plant and every healthy plant is in a JIFFY-POT 3. Lesson learned.

Jiffy-Pots are the best quality of starting pots over all others. You may find cheaper but you get what you pay for. These are made well, are not arrive all jammed together as some others are (making them hard to separate). I plant lots of tomatoes and different chilli peppers year round and these are the only starter pots I use.

There are nothing better than Jiffy pots. Don’t waste money on cheaper off brands. I have used these for many years to start seeds indoors, especially many kinds of tomatoes. This year I have grow lights on them, and they are doing even better than previous years. The best thing about Jiffy pots is that you can transplant your vegetables right into your garden with these, by carefully opening up the bottoms and placing them into their permanent home. Different this year, I will be using the grow bags on my deck.
These have a hole in the bottom for drainage, and water does deep out of the sides. That’s a good thing for when you move them to larger containers and they slowly break down. Not so good in the house, so don’t forget to get a tray to put under them. I use the black plastic garden trays. Inexpensive from Amazon.
These are thick and sturdy. Just what you need to get started on your spring garden.

I put these in a Red Solo Cup to start the seeds and they stay nice and moist. Give them a couple weeks. When they’re ready to put in the ground I run a Butter Knife between the Jiffy Pot and the solo cup to separate them. There will be an amazing bunch of Roots coming out of the Jiffy Pot. Make a spot in the ground, pour in some water and place it in the ground. Your plant will be twice the size in no time. Nice little hobby I have going on with plants and flowers.

I did disfigure a few pots twisting them apart.
But, they fit into most of my pots.
Can cut off a bit when too big.
I am starting some windows-grown herbs.
