Before I received my new cage, this perch was my cockatiels main perch, and it did a good job filing his nails down and making them less sharp. So I decided to get another one. Now, however, he seems to enjoy his other perches, and because of the location of the food bowl in his new cage, this perch was not able to be his “main food” perch, and because of the awkward T-shape, I couldnt install it anywhere near his food bowl in a good location where he would be comfortable eating and standing on it at the same time. So I had to improvise and find some way for him to use it, at least a little, so I use it as his “water perch” ( shown in photos), in which he has no choice but to step on the perch to drink water. However, for me to even install this into the new cage, I had to rig up a piece of the wire from my old cage because the spacing for the bars are spaced apart more than the nut can reach, which was the same problem I had with the water holder this perch is holding up in the photos ( those brown wires are a piece of the old cage wire framing). I am sure if he used it more often, it would work like before. Should I happen to get another cage, I will be sure to get another one of these at the same time, but while I use this cage, I probably wont buy too much more…

I bought this for creating a playtop area for my parrots cage. A little bit tall for my conure to step up onto, but with another Perch close by, he could step on it.
I love that I could use it anywhere because it’s so easy to fasten on…top of cage..side of cage..inside, outside..etc.
Easy to clean.
Remember to provide a variety of perches for your birds feet including soft rope perches.

I bought two of these for my new parakeet; a small one and a medium one. I really like the way these perches bolt anywhere in the cage; they attach firmly to the wall of the cage, and they can be relocated easily. Food dishes can’t always be placed within handy reach of the regular cage perches, and that’s where these are very handy. They can be placed at any height between two food/water dishes.
My bird seems to like them just fine, and they’re bound to help keep his toenails trimmed. The perches are made of hollow plastic that is coated with sand, but all the sand/cement perches I’ve looked at appear to be of similar construction. The two I received are a pretty pale green. I’ve already washed one with no problem. I’m glad I got them, and I’ll probably get a few more.

I needed some perches for the side of my cockatiel’s cage, because I couldn’t find any good perches that were long enough to go across the whole cage– And these fit perfectly. My bird was nervous about them at first and hisses at them, but accepted them when I wrapped a bunch of millet around it. This is not good for birds with tender foot problems, like bumblefoot. But it can be covered with vetwrap and is comfortably sized for an adult male cockatiel.
My only complaint is the god awful moth ball smell that came off all the perches. Is wasn’t the packaging, but the perches themselves. I would suggest soaking in a gentle soap for a while, then giving them a good scrub periodically before giving it to your bird. (I did this before I gave it to my bird, and it didn’t affect the sandpapery texture at all.)
