I was disappointed that the original heated mat I received I had to return to US due to measurements being mixed on site, some were metric and others were imperial, I had assumed because width stated cm that the length and width were also in cm!!. The second mat arrived and it was the correct fit but, no mention as to the fact that it would have a US plug and supply so had to buy a step down transformer – more expense. Now I have it working it is ideal and my cat loves it have hardly seen her since it was put in her outdoor kennel.

You can get similar mats for less (even when getting this for 42 like I did), but paying extra can be worth it– if it works better and lasts longer. I’m taking that chance with this mat. It looks to be well-made, and so far functions perfectly. The solid overall construction, beefy power cord, and low wattage give me some confidence. I like that the cover is removable so it can be cleaned or replaced over time. I’ll see how it holds up over time but so far so good…

The 19″x24″ size looks to be right for my two cats. I have it on a sleeping bag, on a table in my un-heated pole barn.

Cats can be finicky about smells, so after unboxing I placed the mat and cover separately on my bed and aimed a fan at them. Sprayed some Ozium into the air and let them air-out and “de-smell” for about 30 minutes. Not sure that is necessary but can’t hurt…

I had a cat who if she would see me put a mat down, and I placed her on it, she wouldn’t have anything to do with it. If I placed the mat without her seeing and let her find it herself, she’d make it hers. My two pole barn cats, who this heating mat are for, are the opposite. If they see me place the mat then it seems like they trust me and therefore trust the mat. Sure enough, I was barely done setting this mat up and Morty hopped on it, laid down, and was purring while kneading the cover…

Again I’ll have to see how this holds up over time, but everything about it so far leads me to recommend it.

We keep a cool house at night. The best feature is that it only heats up when she lays on it so you can leave it plugged in 24/7. My girl loves it!

This is a quality built heating pad that was considerably lower in price than the local pet supply stores.

I have a few outdoor cats I care for and this is the absolute best heating pad. The first pad I ever purchased was hard as a rock. While it did the job, I just don’t see how a cat could be comfortable on it for hours. This one is soft. I keep the cover off. I have 3 for all my kitties in their houses and they have been using them every day.

I used this small heating blanket/pad for my big 20-pound cat – it is almost too small, but he is a long kitty and he curls up nicely on it. I like that the pad stays just warm enough for my cat to enjoy for hours. It does not turn off unless it is unplugged. There is no thermostat. All good – I wanted something simple. The pad lies next to an unheated space so my cat can lie on the heated pad, off the pad, or half on and half off – his choice. Not hard on power because it does not get too hot. Very sturdy product.

I got this after having the harsh weather or whatever it’s called- the hard plastic version. My one cat just never can get warm so she is obsessed with such things, plus we have a yard feral now so needed a spare for outside to help her through the winter. I’m not sure yet which I prefer, will update if there turns out to be any difference in longevity.
The padded nature of this is nice of course, plus it is easier to shove inside the feral shelter box, being flexible. I shake my head at all the reviewers baffled by the valve thing! Let me try to explain. The pad is full of foam. To make it smaller for shipping? or maybe so we can control the hardness? they suck the air out and when we get it we open the valve and let air back in. While the pad is plugged in so it warms up, softening the foam to help it fluff back up. If you want it firmer you can encourage more air to go inside by pushing and pulling gently at opposite edges somewhat like you’d fluff a pillow. if you want no air just the foam, which would be a softer cushion, you can leave it or even squish it a little. Once you like how it is you seal the valve again. There is no pump. The pad doesn’t change dramatically. We’re just taking a squashed scrap of foam expanding to its unsquashed state, and possibly a small amount of air being fluffed in there too. It is subtle.
As far as I can tell this works the same as the hard one- left alone it is a few degrees above ambient, to attract the animal to lie on it. Once there is pressure it then warms up a bit more, to around body temp. Very good for not wasting energy while unoccupied. Note that both are “outdoors” tolerant but only in the way that a doghouse, shed, breezeway, porch or garage is outdoors- they are NOT built to be FULLY outdoors in the rain, snow and mud. And I’m not sure they could keep an animal safe in harsh weather without some shelter anyway.
Seems to be great indoors for my chilly housecat as well as outdoors for the feral.
I put a thick, folded-in-half bathmat over both the soft and hard heat pads, for padding. So far no fires. If the bedding you add is heavy, it could trigger the pad to go into extra-warm mode without an occupant though, which would be a big waste of electricity. But IMHO adding a bit of a blanket is harmless.
Do use it in the room with you at first to be sure you haven’t got a faulty one that’ll go up in flames or anything. I put a brick on it to get it to fully warm, left it a couple days. ONLY while I was home. Then I was satisfied it could be left unsupervised in the shed where the feral hides. Don’t trust any electrical appliance unsupervised until you have checked it out awhile.

I bought this for my next door neighbors large 80lb dog which was on his last legs, he would have loved it, but he’s in dog heaven. BUT, my two larger breed cats, and my newly adopted three legged cat with an immunodeficiency love this. The only thing I do not like about it is the cover. It’s a one sided fleece mat that has straps that sometimes unhook when a large animal lays on it. For a cat or small dog, the problem isn’t present. But it’s easily modified and fixable for owners with large dogs.
This product still gets a 10 out of 10, despite the fleece cover shortcomings.
For an outdoor mat, this fits the bill and then some, but mine is used indoors, as my home is always chilly.

I live on a farm, and that means cats. We now have 4 cats that have shown up (spay and neuter!!). I can’t stand seeing animals living on their own, so they have become garage cats. It gets cold in Iowa, so I have three heated bed and one of them is like this. I tried this one because it was a little smaller for a shelf I made for them up high in the garage, above their cat tree, which gives them access. The other two beds are a different brand and hard plastic and much larger. I prefer this one and plan to build another cat tree with another place for a bed like this.

All of the cats seem to love this bed, and I have found them all in their at varying times. Two of the cats that came together, are typically in their snuggling (probably because the other 2 are much larger and can’t fit in it together, only on their own). I took a round bed that had no cushion in the center and placed this heated bed in the center of it (happened to fit perfect as the round bed stretched properly to fit the rectangle shape). They like having an outer edge/lip and rest their head on it and I think it makes them feel more secure. This bed has a nice softcover, which stays on well (my other 2 hard ones had a cover but it slips right off so they are useless). I also like that this bed is not a hard plastic; it is a softer blow up bed that self inflates – not so hard on the bones. And because it is soft and the cover is comfy, no need to put any padding on it, so they get more direct heat. On the hard plastic beds, I put some plush beds to soften them up, and the heat comes through, as the cats bellies often feel warm but probably not as much.

As temps dropped even further, I took a diaper box (larger one), cut a small hold on one side (so my little baby cat could escape the bigger ones if needed, and cut the other end off for a larger opening, that all the cats can get into. Then I placed the bed (still with the round bed around it), in the box. Keeps the drafts off, adds security and probably helps keeps their warmth inside it when they snuggle up.

Can’t wait to get out there and build another area for them to play and sleep, and I will definitely be purchasing another one of these beds, as opposed the the hard plastic.

Side note: The hard plastic beds seemed warm all over but one of them got a bulge in the center of it, but not too bad and cats still lay in the bed that I put on it, but now the heat seems to be concentrated to that area. The other also only warms in the center of the large hard plastic mat – again cats still use it, and I can feel the heat but this soft one seems to be heated all over so has just as much heated area as the larger hard mat.

I was worried that my dog would get cold being downstairs during the winter months. Living in California it doesn’t snow where I live, but the temps get into the 30s. It took a couple of months for my dog to finally lay on it, but I was happy to come downstairs one morning to see her using it. I have this next to her regular bed so she has the option to decide what one she wants to sleep on. Easy setup just plug it in and when she lays on it it warms up. It feel sturdy and I don’t worry about her puncturing it. The cord is long enough I can route it out of the way, and strong enough I don’t worry about my dog breaking it.

Built an insulated cat house for our feline friend and put this mat inside. Works excellent and have had no issues after over 2 years of use. My only eh about it is the cover which was shot after about a year. I know they say not to use a blanket or anything with it, but I tossed a towel on it and it’s been working just as good. We live in northeastern Minnesota about 18 miles from the coldest ever recorded temperature in North America so yes it gets cold here and this heated mat keeps our kitty warm.
