I got this Metronome / tuner even though there are numerous free metronome and tuner apps out there – I am not disappointed. It is very accurate and takes some practice to get right – I have one cheap guitar that is relatively hard to tune, and this tuner shows that it’s never quite there even though my ear and other tuners say it’s OK. My other more expensive guitar seems to be OK.
As a metronome it is very useful – It does not really give too many extra options compared with other metronome apps you can find in the play store or app store – but at least it does not drain my phone battery. The controls are very intuitive and easy to work with. There is one problem with the metronome where the bpm resolution is about 5% up / down (you cannot adjust it to exactly 89 bpm for example – only to 86 or 90 bpm, but I am not sure that it really matters.
The recording feature is nice but I discovered that I don’t really use it. It works as advertised.
Where this metronome really shines is when trying to adjust the intonation of the guitar and where most tuner apps are useless. This tuner allows you to set the intonation on your guitar very nicely.
I also like the option to plug in the guitar for tuning – you can then ignore external noise.
One “unadvertised” feature this tuner has is that in a pinch it can be used as a practice amp – connect it to the guitar (I guess if you have a flute then it does not really matter) and turn on the recording feature, but don’t press play. The guitar sound comes through your headphones and you can pretend that you are using it as an amp, the tone is relatively clean but not really great – other headphone amps will probably do a better job.

I have always used Korg products- tuners and metronomes and swear by them.
I have had an ancient Korg Chromatic Tuner (see photos) that I’ve had through my time at my music conservatory and well beyond. This dinosaur of a tuner has been banged, dropped, scratched, scraped and STILL works perfectly.
However, this updated Korg Tuner has brought me out of the Mesozoic era of tuners and into the 21st century. At more than half the size (weight, thickness, etc), it is far more portable. The addition of the metronome is fantastic and I love that I can subdivide the beat into triplets, 8ths, 16ths, 32nds, etc for those tricky rhythmic patterns. The tap button feature really works when I’m listening to a recording and there are no tempo markings on my music, I just tap the red button to the beat of the music and it tells me how fast they’re playing.
The other fantastic feature of this is that you can use it as a recording device. I’ve always used self- record practice as a way of self-evaluation for tone, rhythm, intonation, musicality, etc. as it’s difficult to do that objectively when behind the instrument. The volume playback is not very loud at all but there is an input (I haven’t tried to put an external mic on it to see if that would improve the recording). There is also a headphone jack.
I purchased the additional attachment cord that can attach to your instrument (in my case my bass bridge) which has helped me tune more quickly and efficiently especially in a large rehearsal room where everyone is playing and you can’t really hear your own instrument clearly.

Intelligent, thoughtful and considered design. This is a device that conforms to the needs of a user, as opposed to poorly designed devices to which the user must conform. The 3 functions: recorder, metronome, and tuner are independent when used separately, but when used together, they integrate in a cooperative ergonomic manner. For example, the metronome is automatically muted after the introductory beats during recording. The recording quality is quite good but can only be appreciated if the file is transferred via USB to be heard on a capable system. Although the miniscule built in speaker is adequate for note tones and metronome beats, it is incapable of quality musical rendition. However an output jack is available for directly driving an amplifier or a small headphone. The built in mic is good. To avoid audio feedback, the “sound back” feature can only be used with either or both an external headphone or mic. This useful feature detects the note being played while simultaneously outputting the closest note for comparison. The tuner is accurate, and responsive with perfect damping. The metronome has many useful features.
The fold out stand seems a bit inadequate but it works. The unit would be improved with a larger display and a smaller “KORG” branding.
UPDATE: After some minimal use, the flimsy fold out stand broke off. To make matters worse, Korg will not sell me a replacement, citing some nonsense about “not available from the manufacturer”. Non-existent customer support, compounded by shameful excuses does not warrant 5 stars.
