I bought this unit because I needed something that would fit in a shallow closet. However, I’m not happy with the washer. It doesn’t use enough water to clean my clothes well. I have to put in tiny loads if I actually want the clothes to be clean. I’ve included a photo of how much water is in the drum during a wash cycle.

Review after two laundry days. Our previous set of about 17 years was also an LG. Really liked them and the still worked great, however, the casing of the washer was falling victim to the rust that many complain as common in those years machines. My wife wanted a tower so she had more room in the utility room. My review.
Pros:
1. Clothes wash very quickly. Our previous LG front load set had cut wash time dramatically and this set dropped it about another 25%. This a result of the Turbo Wash setting, high spin speed and the fact the ThinQ app notifies you as soon as cycle is complete.
2. Clothes are clean even on Turbo Wash setting.
3. Very compact space saving. You can see from the picture I was able add shelves for storage increasing the utility of the utility closet.
4. Since it is one piece all controls are on the front. No getting on a stool to set the dryer.
5. Very quiet
6. Very efficient, uses much less energy and water. Of course, as you can see from other comments it uses so little water people assume it won’t get clothes clean. It does.
7. The ThnQ app connects to Alexa and you get notifications on your phone and over Alexa your cycle is complete. Greatly speeds up the laundry chore by limiting down time between loads. I don’t really understand what the guy complaining about the app wanted it to do.
8. It looks good.
9. Uses very little detergent.
Cons
1. Not really a con but it requires a steam kit in addition to the usual hoses and electrical cord. Salesmen and buyers may not be aware and on delivery day you’re running out to get more hoses.
2. Could be a con but will learn in the future (far future I hope) but if one half of the tower goes bad you’ll be buying the entire unit instead of just the broken half of the set.
3. The wash door is oddly finicky to close. Not too bad but you need to be more deliberate when closing the door.
4. The pressure sensitive controls are small and also more difficult to operate. Kind of a pain but not a deal breaker.
Would buy again.

Claims to be smart, but you cant manage the unit from the app. Tub clean functionality has disappeared. The only benefit to it is you can get notifications on your phone when wash or dry is done. I work as an engineer and have a lot of smart home products, this is not the one you want if you want smart functionality or you will be disappointed.

I love the LG direct drive washing machine. I have had one for many many years and it is still going strong. I bought this wash tower to fit in my master closet. It is great! This new model is more narrow than the older one I own but the drum capacity is larger and the cycles are more efficient. I like this machine. Highly recommended.

This was very much a pain in the you know what there was a lack of communication with the delivery company and the seller first off it’s supposed to be arriving on Wednesday then they said Thursday and then they said Saturday but the whole time I was just tracking the invoice not to unit itself I kept on trying to communicate with the ups and the seller UPS was more active than the seller and gave you more information the seller just kept on waiting also I did not receive the invoice nor the unit and is saying it was delivered but UPS was keeping me posted because I’m chose something to where they can communicate with me so far I’ve noticed about the unit it’s good but it seems like the buttons are a little bit iffy we only had it for one day so far it is very heavy but they couldn’t bring it up to my top floor they’re refusing to I kept on asking them if they can and they said they can’t who’s originally was supposed to be set up downstairs but I had to set it up downstairs luckily we already had one down there previously long time ago I’ll give an update if anything goes wrong or if the thing is still running after about 6 or 3 months I probably making a video on how this thing does in the beginning how I set it up by the way 6 ft doesn’t hit the bottom of the cord you probably want a 10 ft one the setup was pretty normal for a washer and dryer just keep in mind that it is just one washer and dryer put together the dryer is on top the washer stuff is on bottom or in the washer stuff is kind of in the middle so far it seems like my mom likes it

It’s Me! –
I really love this unit. You need to know though, as the previous reviewer mentioned, that this is not as smart as you may have hoped for. I turned it on using my phone and it started a wash. However, when it finished, I realized that it hadn’t put my dirty clothes inside. Then when it finished the wash it didn’t transfer it to the drier like I thought it would since it’s a smart washer. I am disappointed that I have to do so much work even though I can control all the electronics from my phone. Hope this helps!

So, I bought this/these through Lowe’s in January. Today’s May 3rd, and they’ve had to send repair men to my house 3 times already. It’s been poor construction kind of issue (loose bolts, etc) every time. The LG support is an over-automated nightmare to deal with, and the 3rd party repair guys they sent have made it clear that the LG brand is awful, and that buying the extended warranty from LG is almost a necessity with the brand, because, and I quote: “I’m gonna need it”… While the units look nice, it’s clear to me that the overall quality is suspect at best. Oh yeah, and when they screw up and order large parts they ended up not needing (e.g. a drum) they wouldn’t take them back because “they cost too much to ship back”… so you’re stuck with the huge, uneeded part… it’s absurd what I’ve dealt with in a mere 4 months of ownership.
