This was an upgrade from my old LG 1080p LED projector that was rated at 1400 lumens. This unit is a big step up from my old one. Picture brightness is outstanding in our basement with ambient lighting. We don’t have direct sunlight in the room where this projector is used, but has a lot of ambient light during the daytime. Picture quality even with all this light is just stunning. I use presentation mode all the time on this. 4K text is tack sharp. Only a single problem is that the projector kept waking up and switching itself on randomly when I had an Ethernet cable connected to it. Networking is actually not needed at all on this for a typical home theater experience, especially if the signal is coming from a device like Apple TV. So I have turned off WiFi on the projector and unplugged the ethernet cable. Problem gone. I have this projector running in a monitor mode with no sound, as this is connected to a Yamaha 4K HDMI receiver that does all the switching and provides Dolby Atmos sound to external speakers. Apple TV 4K provides all the streaming pictures with YouTube TV. Screen size is 150 inches diagonal. Lots of adjustments are possible to get the picture aligned perfectly. Fan noise is negligible and I don’t notice it at all. Just watched the Wimbledon 2023 semi-final matches and it was like I had my own mega booth at Wimbledon center court. It is that good.

I first bought a LG CineBeam HU810PW (2021) for 4k. I’d have kept it, but it had a defect. It lacked many features of my 15-year-old 1080p projector (such as vertical only keystoning) that made setup a pain. It was bright but I realized I needed a bit brighter to be truly impressed. Color was often great. Sadly, the green/blue problem common for dual lasers is accentuated by its DTM, which can’t be turned off. I came to realize I needed to spend more to feel like it is a significant improvement over my 1080p projector, but I was not ready to spend >$5,000. So, I spent <$3,500 for one without a US warranty from Korea (eBay).

BTW, my problem with UST projectors is not just that the heavy keystoning means quite a large drop in effective resolution and brightness but that I would need a shorter cabinet to allow the two-foot space lost below the screen – making the usable screen area MUCH smaller … unacceptable. I could live with one that automatically adjusted when switching between normal 16:9 and widescreen for movies, but none do it (or that had one button presets to make switching easy to do). I’m not giving up my cherry cabinet.

Another note: Optoma UHD38 (2021) – $1,400 – BEST GAMING PROJECTOR (IMHO and many pro reviewers) – Horizontal and Vertical DIGITAL keystone (YEA!) amazon.com/gp/product/B08WTSV4JY/

The light levels are GREAT for my living room. It’s supposed to be too much, but I don’t think so. Dynamic Tone Mapping (the DTM introduced in the HU810PW sadly causing an unmistakable greenish tint) of HDR10 content seems to work in the BU60PST (and you can turn it off). The greater detail is noticeable. I am VERY happy with this projector. My only tiny complaint is an occasional message about warming up that needs to be turned off with the remote (1st world problem). It can be set up to turn on whenever powered on and I plugged it in with a smart plug. However, it goes on and off with the signal. Very easy. It has 12-point DIGITAL warp adjustment keystone (I only used 4 points of course) and was easier to setup.

I’ve had a projector for 18 years as my main TV. Always had to have the room dark to see the picture. This thing is so bright I can pull the blackout shades off the windows again. Near 4k quality without a 4k receiver. I upgraded my Firestick and Receiver to 4k, but honestly it was almost as good with my old setup. A little better with the 4k equipment, but was pretty good on the old 1080 setup as well.

This projector really does great in bright rooms. We have this in our Conference room and with all lights on its easy to see and read small text. The lens shifting is really outstanding more or less negating the need for fancy projector mount. As long as its strong, this projector will do all the fine adjustments making installation much easier. The picture is sharp, colors are accurate right out of the box.

I just purchased this projector. It’s a step-up from my LG HU810 2700 lumens. The HU is good but i wanted more lumens since i’ve always had at least 5000 lumens projectors. The HU810 was the best price for me but it was only 2700 lumens and I wanted the 4K technology without breaking the bank. Again the picture was good; but this BU60PST is a beast. The brightness is awesome. Even with the light on. I can’t belive it’s this small and pack 6000 lumens. I love this projector. It’s like you’re watching the film in the theater. If you’re thinking of getting this projector, get it! Look for a deal and get it. Even if you pay the $4,000 it’s worth it. Trust me.
