I wasn’t expecting too much from this toy, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear that it was actually in tune and sounds pretty nice! It’s a xylophone, so it takes some coordination to play — my 9 month old can’t really play any tones on it yet and he just tries to eat the mallets. The build quality is pretty good as well.
Overall this is great if you are looking specifically for a xylophone designed for younger kids (but not too young).

This xylophone has great sound! It’s pretty simple–a wooden frame with 1 C scale’s worth of metal keys with notes. There are 2 holes at the end for 2 wooden mallets. It sounds very nice.
The only thing to know is it’s smaller than the traditional toy xylophone, so that’s something to keep in mind if using this as a toy. It might be easier to use for kids with finer motor control. See the picture with the remote control for scale. But if you want a small toy xylophone, this is a great pick.

I have a fifteen month old and he loves this! It sounds bright and is tuned well enough that my practiced (but not expert) ear perceives an accurate scale.
For a toddler that loves music, it is the ideal toy – they have fun and, as a parent, it’s impossible for them to play it off-key, so while it’s not quiet, it at least sounds nice. A minor benefit is that his older siblings enjoy it, too, so he gets a lot of time from them.
The two mallets (yes, that’s the name for these two small wooden sticks) that come with it mean baby and an older person can enjoy playing together. I know that I have a fun time just messing around with it… I mean, playing with my son!
