    1. Awesome sound quality
Gives you a great base. Clear yet not the annoying sharp sound. I thought my S*** car audio got some good sound quality but after you hear this bad boy, man I get a little annoyed with my car audio. I usually listen to Josh Groban, Ludovico Einaudi, occasional Jazz for food prep, hard rock for flushing my anger, and some classics or audiobooks and youtubers talking. Heck I just use this speaker for every occasion. I think adjustable base and treble is additional fun part of this speaker. It’s fun to play with those dial. It gets pretty loud as well. I live in a house with a high ceiling but it fills the space with gorgeous juicy sound. Volume also depends on the volume setting of your device. I found when my phone is bluetooth connected I can adjust the volume from the phone as well but not with my laptop. If I want to adjust the volume when my laptop is paired I need to either turn the dial of speaker to adjust volume or volume adjust in the sound source not the computer built in sound system.

    2. Kind of- easy to use
Easy to pair with your device.. if you don’t want to mess with Bluetooth, use the cord that comes with it.
One thing weird about this speaker is about charging. You HAVE to turn the speaker on to charge it. If you turn it off it’s turned off. It won’t charge while it’s off. Oh well, not a big deal.

    3. Beautiful design.
I was actually going to buy BOSE or JBL and they have decent sound quality. But hey, as soon as I saw that old-vintage-guitar-amp looking thing, I had to get it. How could you not?????? Little strap that comes with it makes it easier to carry around the house. I love the way they look. It’s so elegant. Sits in my old house like it belonged here since forever. It’s a beautiful piece of home decoration.
However if you are looking for one easy to carry all around including outdoors you’ll have to pass this because it’s a stout little thing. Quite heavy for a BT speaker. Yeah it’s easy to carry with the strap but it’s good for carrying indoors. I might take it outside for close picnic but definitely not for outdoor activity. You can do the arm workout with this thing. It’s that hefty.

I love my new speaker. It’s a beautiful piece also works phenomenal.

The Kilburn is an excellent portable Bluetooth speaker. I’m in love with rock n’ roll (it satisfies my soul) and the Kilburn excels at cranking out epic ballads, shredding guitar solos and all riffs. It produces a bright, clean sound and if I were to pick one fault, it’s that it lacks some bass – for my personal preference. I have heard smaller speakers produce more bass than the Kilburn, but it’s entirely acceptable. Positioning the speaker in the right place can really help, such as corners of rooms.

The requirement to leave the unit powered on in order to charge is unusual and that’s really the only quirk. Pairing with BT devices is simple and the included, high quality 3.5mm cable is welcome.

Battery life is outstanding. The speaker looks fantastic and the fit-finish is top drawer – my wife does not mind me leaving the Kilburn in prominent areas in our home.

I bought my Kilburn on sale at Amazon and wouldn’t hesitate to buy it at full price – it’s great value for the money.

I have owned the bose soundlink mini original, The Fugoo Style XL, and the Bravo BRV-HD. In my review I will compare these to the Marshall Killburn.

    Sound:
1- The Marshall killburn has the best sound. It has good bass that is not muddy. The mids and highs seem great as well. There is a treble and bass knob on this speaker that allows you to tune the sound to your tastes which is something I have not seen on any other speaker
2- The bose soundlink mini has the second best sound. The bass is there but it makes the music sound muddy and deeper than it should be. The mids and highs are ok but the muddy bass distracts from it somewhat. Overall it is still one of the better sounding portable speakers.
3- Bravo BRV-HD sounds ok but the bass is not very strong. I would not purchase this item if sound quality is important (which it should be in most cases).
4- The Fugoo Style XL- sounds bad. There is no bass and it sounds tinny. You can get smaller and cheaper speakers that sound better (soundlink mini for example). I highly recommend staying away from this. Because of this I will not comment on this item anymore.

Portability and durability- all are portable but the bravo was the easiest and safest to take anywhere.
1- The Bravo BRV-HD is easy to take anywhere due to the fact that it is easy to carry, seems durable, waterproof, and has no moving parts that can be damaged. This speaker also has a 28 hour battery at low volume which is uncommon among speakers
2- the bose soundlink mini original is small thus easy to move but there are some aspects of it that make it less portable than you think. It has an aluminum exterior which scratches easily, a low battery life of 7-8 hours, and not waterproof. This means that it has a good chance of becoming fully discharged or scratched when you take it out.
2- The Marshall killburn is easy to carry using a strap but it is not waterproof and could be damaged if you get it wet or hit it with something. Also this speaker is one of the largest portable speakers. However this has a 20 hour battery at 50%(low) volume which is better than average. I still believe you still can take this anywhere with ease.

    Other significant features and accessories
    1- marshal:
    * it comes with a really nice coiled aux cable which works very well on a portable device. It also looks really high end.
    * There are treble and bass controls that let you customize the sound to your taste
    * battery is user replaceable but I have not seen it for sale online.
    2- Bose:
    *battery is also user replaceable
*comes with a “charging base”. This although nice looking is a pain connect with the speaker to use. I preferred just plugging it in manually.
    3-bravo:
*none, just a speaker (plus charger obviously)

Design and quality: This was a tough decision
1- marshal: It looks very cool with its leather exterior. Also the buttons and knobs are very premium looking and feeling. This looks and feels like a very expensive product due to the quality of materials and heft of the speaker.
2- bose: its a very small speaker but it has some heft to it. It has an aluminum exterior and it looks very sophisticated like many luxury audio products. It does not stand out from the crowd like the marshall does which puts it in 2nd place
2-Bravo: It looks nice but not “premium nice” however it has the most weight to it. The quality is not as high as there are imperfections in the rubber parts of the speaker and no “luxury” materials are present which is NOT OK at its price point.

    cost/value:
1-The Marshall killburn is currently 275-300 dollars depending where you go. It is the best value due to its superior sound quality, quality build and materials, good battery life, and tone controls.
2- The bose is also a good value if you can’t spend more than 200 dollars on a speaker. This is due to its good sound quality, nice looks, and small size. It is worth spending more on the marshal if you can.
2- The Bravo is not worth the 250-300 dollars due to its mediocre sound and lack of premium feel which is important at this price point. However if you absolutely need an extremely rugged/ waterproof speaker at all costs for camping, military, or zombie apocalypse use this may be a good option.

    Conclusion:
Buy the marshal killburn if you can afford it due to its superior sound quality and superior build/design. If you want to save money the bose soundlink mini (original) is an acceptable alternative.

I will update this in the future if there are problems or my opinion has changed.

4/30/2016 update: The Bluetooth on this speaker is a pain to use sometimes. Sometimes my device connects to it and plays music. Sometimes my device connects to it and FAILS to play music. I prefer to use aux cord instead of Bluetooth with this device because its easier. Luckily the speaker can with a nice aux cord.

This thing changed the music scene in my room overnight.
Each time I upgrade my speakers I can hear the difference, but this one blows all others out of the water.

Unless I decide to spend my next year’s life savings and parent’s retirement fund on a Bose, I’m going to be very happy with this one.

I was originally going to buy the Sony XB series of waterproof speakers, but decided to save up and buy this one instead. It was the right move.

    Pros:
    – Sound Quality. 10/10. Would give more if I could.

    – The analog buttons for Volume, Bass and Treble. If you’ve ever used a guitar amplifier before, it’s exactly the same. Knobs are high quality, finish is great, and movement is smooth.

    – Looks. This thing is not exactly subtle (it’s quite big), but doesn’t scream for attention either.

    – The Aux cable. Came along with the speaker. High quality, long lasting, and comes with a coiled telephone-style wire. Looks great, feels great, sounds great.

    – Bluetooth is fast, and pairs well.

    Cons.
    – Portability. This is meant for your house/room. If you’re looking for something you can carry around to a party for a drive, look elsewhere (like the Sony XB series!). This thing is big, heavy, and does not want to move once it sits down (kind of like me).

    – Volume control. Not sure if this is just an issue with my piece, but I can’t control the volume from my phone. I need to adjust volume from the speaker itself. This is annoying, but not a deal breaker for me.

    – Not in the least bit waterproof. This is not technically a con, since it is not meant to be. But you will need to be careful. It looks sturdy enough to take some hits (don’t test this), but keep it away from pools, showers, and spills. Again, if you want something totally waterproof, Sony XB will sort you out.

Overall, this thing is pricey, but it’s still value for money. It looks premium, sounds premium, and is a great investment if you’re like me and don’t have the aukaat for Bose.

My suggestion: wishlist it, wait for a discount, and buy it the first chance you get. It’s worth it.
