Master Lock has been in this business for decades or more, and this lock is no exception when it comes to quality budget locks. Haven’t had to buy a new one in over twenty years, but since it was showing some rust and I had lost one of the keys, it made sense to get a replacement. Good to see this lock has a key hole cover and most of the metal covered up with a plastic shield or coating.
It is slightly bulkier than my old one with a larger plastic base and different type of key. It does the job of securing my bike frame and wheel, but will not take another adult sized bicycle without getting crafty or only securing the frames. The included lock holder is nice, but it will not last since it is made of plastic.
Not a good idea to lock up a high end bicycle or scooter using this lock, but will manage as a theft deterrent for short term parking. I recommend as a budget U lock.

This u-lock is decent. It is well-packaged and easy to use. It comes with two keys and a steel cable for extension. The mounting hardware is made of plastic, and to be honest, it feels a bit cheap. As for the security feature, it is okay. No safety/false pins. For the price, it is okay for a cheap bike.

So far this Master Lock bike lock has prevented my bike from being stolen. This lock does have a lot of weight to it which is good for feeling secure, but bad for having to carry around. Overall, this lock does its job and is worth it for the price.

This is really a cool lock. Combining the traditional cable lock with the shackle lock so that you can lock both Wheels to the frame is pretty clever.
I think that even though any lock can be broken by an ambitious thief, they might think twice about this one because it’s so much more involved. It would take more time for them.

My daughter has gotten old enough to ride places on her own. Most of the time, it is to a friend’s house, but sometimes, she wants to ride to a church or school activity on her own. I always worried that her bike could get stolen, so I got her this bike lock.
I will say I don’t have to worry anymore! I know that nothing is impossible to steal if someone wants it bad enough. But this lock would certainly make it very hard for them to steal her bike now. The chains are so thick that bolt cutters won’t get through them. The lock is very sturdy, and I don’t see it coming off if hit with a sledgehammer. At a bare minimum, since her bike isn’t anything special, someone looking to steal a bike would look at the others around hers with hers locked up with this one.
The key works well on the lock, making it easy to lock and unlock. I like how the whole lock unit separates so it is easier to get the chain and the U part of the lock around the chain. This way you don’t have to fight with the swing part of the lock. The only complaint she has is that it is heavy to carry around, but I tell her it gives her better exercise and makes sure her bike is secure.
I expect that this lock will last a long time in securing her bike!

Excellent lock and very sturdy. There are some things that are different from the older style I had before, like the key. I’ve always seen the round ones but this inserts into the middle of the loack and has ridges on it (see pic). Then the clamp is interesting – the lock goes into it and rotates to stay on. I can’t use this on my bike because of the suspension, but seems very sturdy and easy to go on/off. The lock works well to keep my bike secured to a pole or on the rack so someone just doesn’t grab and go. The lock is slightly small in length, but that’s great for use in a backpack which I how I carried it. There is a longer version available if you need it. These U-lock styles are one of the most secure types and will easily lock onto a community loop rack or thin pole. Overall, it’s a great lock and I’m very happy with it.
