This is an all around great bike for my son. It looks “cool” and has all of the functions needed for a novice rider. I like how it has pedal breaks as well as handle breaks so the user can use the pedal breaks as a back up as they learn to use those on the handle. The wheels are wide enough to make for an easy ride. The only thing I’ll say negatively about the bike is that it’s tough to put together. The handle bar breaks were especially difficult to figure out. I had to call a friend over to help me and don’t think I could have figured it out without him.

**Update from last review**
We went head and ordered a 2nd exact same bike for our other son. This time we got a Amazon return (One at a discount).
The bike had a few minor imperfections, slightly bent front wheel (2min fix w/ a spoke tool) and a bent right side crank bearing (Pretty simple and painless fix if you know how to repair it). Also did a rear tire coaster brake conversion to a freewheel since my son wanted a bike that could back pedal.
Am I happy with both bikes, YES.
Are my sons happy, YES.
If I had to buy them both over again, YES I would buy them.

Read lots of reviews and to be honest. Allot of folks should just buy a preassembled bike if they can’t read directions. Very strait forward and easy to put together. Make sure you have all the tools needed before starting on this, plan on it taking 20-40mins depending on your mechanical skill level.
Does Not come with a kick stand! No problem, we pulled the adjustable one off my sons old bike that we got on Amazon for $5.
I will be buying another one of these again for my other son when his B-Day comes around. If he behaves 😉

I was afraid of few reviews that I saw before receiving it but very happy with this purchase. I had to unscrew the front axle as well as the crankset as they were difficult to turn but once these adjustments are made everything is perfect and my 6 year old boy is very happy. Nice intermediate size.

For the price I was expecting better quality than the low end big store options.
It’s a nice looking bike and was decently packed but the front wheel rim was scratched and 2 axle nuts and a washer were missing.
The front bearing was very tight and the wheel barely rotated on the axle, adjusting the preload made it ok.
The pedal crank was tight, seizing and made clunking noises, loosening the bearing nut did not help, the bike was un-useable and I returned it.
I would recommend trying the pedal crank before proceeding with assembly.

The bike is very cool. But, there were issues … first, the box was damaged which only affected the cosmetics of the bike. But, once you open it up, it is hard to consider returning. Anyway, we decided to proceed … the bike seemed simple to assemble except 2 key parts were missing – a bolt for to secure the seat and an inner element to secure the handle bars. The customer service process was exceptional, the service tech answered the phone and was responsive. The only problem is this was Friday afternoon and my grandson wanted to ride the bike. So we took it to a local Recyclery Bike Store in Charlotte and they were wonderful and providing the missing parts. We love the bike, but the quality control for making sure the right pieces were included is a 0 or 10 rating. Funny, we had 2 additional pieces included which we have no idea what they are for, so I’m sure some other customer is looking for parts. LOL!

When I was growing up Mongoose was a super great brand for kids bikes. Now that I am a dad I had to buy a first bike for my son. I went straight to Amazon and picked out this nice looking Mongoose Stun for a moderate price compared to others but more expensive than a Huffy from Walmart. My son rode this thing twice in the past week since we bought it on 8/22/24. All of the bearings disintegrated as they looked to have not been greased at all prior to assembling the hub and crank at the factory. Also one of the axles broke as well. These seem to be areas that the engineers are purposely cutting costs on forcing you to replace these various pieces. I should have just paid more for a better brand or better yet had just bought a cheap Huffy from Walmart. I would avoid Mongoose now as it is not the quality product you remember from your youth.
