This card is great but make sure it will fit in your case because it’s very long and thick. It can handle all the games on high/ultra. The support bar that MSI gives with it doesn’t really sitv properly in place but the card doesn’t really sag too much either. Probably best card for the value out currently as the 4080 and 4080 are extremely expensive

High performance, high power consumption, heat ramps up pretty quick, requires additional cooler if you sleep in the same room with your computer while training AI or running some GPU intensive stuffs at night, or the noise caused by default fans will destroy you ~80℃.

Finally gpu prices are acceptable! I have this gpu paired with a Ryzen 9 3900x and 32 gigs of DDr4 ram and it runs everything I throw at it on 2k resolution maxed out graphics at 130-200fps in most games and even in games that are unoptimized cough cough BF2042 it has more than enough power to break down that door!

I’ve experimented with the new Nvidia DSR factors which allows you to scale your resolutions to 2k 4k and even 8k if the system will allow it and they runs perfect I don’t do much 4k since 2k looks better but this gpu will handle it no problem!

I had a 2080 super and this gpu is a 50% performance boost and is the last gpu my rig can support without bottleneck .

Grab this gpu now imo the 4000 series are going to be power hogs and will most likely burn power connectors no matter which set. Atleast for the first year after release.

105 fps at 1080p is alright with me. Upgraded from a 1070ti that only got me 48 fps at 1080p.

    Pretty good stuff!

Tested stock performance on 3Dmark – bottom 48% – slightly below average across 3080 owners.

Overclocked/optimized with curve at +75 at or above 1V and +165 at or below 850mV and the rest of the points set where they are stable in benchmarks –

    +105 at 950mV
    +135 at 900mV, etc

I arrived at these numbers after I did a bunch of benchmarking, stress testing locking card at each voltage point and testing that separately.
And later after solid performance everywhere, but crash in VR adjusted entire curve “-15” for extra stability

Now my performance is top 10% among other 3080.

However after all that I limited power to 85% to save power and reduce heat, increase card longevity. Performance penalty is pretty small – just couple of percent less. Besides I pretty much can play any game locked at my desired 141 fps with g-sync on 1440p screen. Card is a beast and if I was just gaming on a screen I’m not sure I’d get something so massively overpowered.

Most games were running just fine at 80+ fps 1440p on my old 2060 and for big chunk of games even 2060 was barely utilized.

But for VR and game-dev this 3080 is a game changer! HL:Alyx runs flawlessly now – no hitches, high quality butter smooth 120 fps on quest2.

And Unreal engine 5 demos actually work on this hardware! Editor runs fine with massive scenes in ue5 – no more memory issues thanks to 10Gb

Installed this yesterday. Good buy overall, can support pretty well any game on max graphics steady at 120hz. Well paired with the ryzen 9 5900x and b550 tomahawk motherboard. Initially freaked me out because fans started and then stopped after boot (temp was too low to need fan and kicked in as needed). Temps are impressive. Idle was 35-40 Celsius and after running Destiny 2 on max graphics for 30 minutes it averaged around 47 Celsius and did not surpass 50 (may be also due to the 11 fans I also have installed but still nice to know). Also frames did not drop under 100 FPS even during the most busy parts of gameplay (lowest drop I had was 109). I felt I took a risk on this purchase based on unsatisfied 1-3 star reviews but it seems those authors might’ve just been unlucky. Only trouble was finding an affordable monitor. A 4K 165 hz 1 ms monitor would compliment this card very well (also supports 8k if you have a larger budget).

I was loathe to drop the insane amount of $ for a new card, but my AMD RX580, I thought, was quickly becoming a dinosaur. I thought this card would be a vast improvement, and it is for the most part. None of the games I’ve played since purchase have caused the fans to spin up and the card doesn’t break a sweat. However, it is a PCI-e 4.0 card being used in a 3.0 slot, so it’s bottlenecked for now. I had benched the old RX580 in various benchmarking suites, then the RTX3080, and was surprised that the numbers were as close as they were. I’m betting the PCI-e 3.0 is why. Still, even limited at 3.0, a good card so far.

At 37 Years old, I FINALLY decide to build a gaming PC, and what happens!? “THE GREAT GPU SHORTAGE”! I Literally started buying parts over a year ago and I refused to pay scalper prices for a GPU. They finally hit a price I’m willing to pay, and I’m honestly glad I waited.
I ended up getting a 5800x3d, which wasn’t even out when I started this build and that thing is an absolute gem. I tend to play high FPS games at lower resolution, and I also play minecraft…shhh. both of these situations tend to be more CPU bound from what I know… which isn’t that much actually.
This gpu does everything I need and then some! I have a 1440 165hz moniter and I’m playing WarZone/BO multiplayer on MAX settings, Ray tracing on, getting 120++fps on 1440 and completely pegged at 144 on my 1080 144hz monitor.
Red Dead Redemption 2 looks like a whole new game (I’m coming from a gtx 1060 laptop).
Cyberpunk runs solid 120fps at 1440 Almost Max settings.
And I finally get to experience high end Minecraft Java Shaders, and my goodness is it glorious.
