Naturehike Mongar 2 Person Lightweight Camping Tent

Very easy to set up with one person. Great for one plus equipment or two people with the equipment in the small vestibule. Ground sheet is included which increased the value of this package even further.

I purchased this tent plus another brand to decide which would suit my needs best. I ended up going with the other brand but not because this one is inferior. This looks to be a well made tent minus a couple of stitching flaws. I think this one just slipped through the hands of the inspectors. Naturehike has always been a reputable company and we have another tent by them that has no issue. In comparing this one with the other brand, I only went with the other brand because of a couple extra features they offered, not because I thought the Naturehike tent was of poor quality. Had I chosen the Naturehike, I would have just sent it in for a replacement due to the stitching. The interior is roomy enough for two people with gear stowed in the vestibules. I could sit up easily without my head touching. The center cross pole really opens up the space and makes it easy to move around in without bumping the side walls. Having two vents is a plus to keeping condensation down overnight. The included ground sheet enables you to set it up “fly first” in the event it is raining. Overall I’m impressed with what this tent has to offer.

I really like how easy this is to set up. Lots of headroom and slept two men easily (no gear in tent) I’m over 6′. The temp was under 10 celcius and we got condensation on the inside of the fly even with both vents open, which wasn’t so nice, but other than that I loved it

A $99 tent that performs to nearly the same level as other quadruple priced Chinese made tents, yes please! Prices for our basic necessities are indeed increasing but for things that require technology to produce, such as this tent, are getting more and more affordable. I’m so thankful I did not spend half a grand on a name brand tent and have to worry about every snag, or drop of sap that touched it. It’s a $99 tent and it’s a smoking bargain. There is definitely a difference in the “feel” of the materials vs the high end tents that this one copies but since I am just a “normal” user, using this tent for my motorcycle adventures, it is plenty sufficient. The poles fold down small enough to fit in the saddlebags of my 2007 BMW R1200 GSA. Simple setup and simple breakdown. For some reason, this tent (rainfly specifically) folds up so much easier than any tent I’ve ever had. I carry 7″ steel “nails” or spikes so the tent stakes are irrelevant to me. Also, as with most tents, it will be a struggle to get the body, groundcloth and rainfly back into the supplied storage bag. I made some cinch straps, completely eliminating that issue, but without cinch straps, that WILL be an issue for you so save the headache and make or order some 18″ (approx) cinch straps, you will be so glad you did. I bought this tent about a month before hurricane Ian made landfall in south FL. I had not expected to use it for some time, but when the storm was on a line for my area (which later shifted) I thought it a perfect time to take a quick camping trip to Georgia. 4 nights (3 campgrounds) in it without issue.

For it’s price/features, I love it. I’m 6ft, and have no issues with the length. Obviously, it’s a small tent, for me though it feels plenty spacious, and all I need in terms of space. I use this for “car camping” as it’s so light and takes next to no space in the vehicle. As I’m not a backpacker, only a backpacker can decide if this is light enough to be used for that purpose.

The main reason I like this model is the full mesh inner. I can’t sleep when I’m warm, so I was looking for a very “airy” tent, and this is exactly that. Even with it’s airy nature, I still did not feel cold one night when it got down to 40f (zero condensation on the inner side of the rain fly). Sleeping mats and sleeping bags/quilts are the real key to staying warm, but for the future with a good “sleep system”, I don’t consider the ambient temperature to be a concern for the airy nature of this tent.

I did a “rain test” with a garden hose before the trip and found zero leaks. That said, I acknowledge this wasn’t really much of a test, not compared to a real rainstorm. I did not experience any rain on the trip so I think it too soon to swear by its rain resistance. For my own peace of mind, I will stick it out in the yard for our next rain storm and see how it does.

While putting up the tent, the cross pole (permanently attached) naturally hangs below the main pole. I’ve seen many videos where the tent is assembled in this way. It works, but doesn’t seem correct. For the sturdiest tent, this should probably be re-positioned during assembly so that the cross pole sits on top of the main pole.

Nov 12 update – Due to a misunderstanding, this tent was set out in the backyard (west coast of FL) the day before tropical storm Nicole. The wind gusts decreased much less than expected after moving from the east coast to the west. Serious wind gusts and rain started to hit the tent around 3am and continued till around 10am. When the gusts would hit, the upwind side of the cross-pole would bend downward, collapsing the vestibule, then return to position (often making a sound like a kick drum) As the wind swirled both vestibules took turns collapsing and popping back up. After about an hour one of the vestibule stakes (supplied with the tent) popped out; I stuck it back in, but it popped out again 10mins later. I decided it was best to go inside the house.

I continued to look for something better to anchor the vestibules. Larger 7″ “Y-type” stakes held a little better, but would still pop out. I did find one plastic screw type stake and that seemed to hold, but there was still the other vestibule to worry about. Eventually I used a foot long metal corkscrew, meant as a tie-point for large dogs – that was perfect.

We had repeated wind gusts in the 50+mph range, with the local reported high of 72mph. I did not want to attempt to take the tent down in that wind, so it sat there for hours and was pummeled over and over. When the cross pole wasn’t collapsing and springing back, sometimes it seemed like the whole tent was inflating and ready to pop like a balloon – but it never did. The wind started to subside around 10am, and around 10:30 I took it down. It was perfectly dry inside. This was clearly a dumb thing I do not wish to repeat, but I am not going to doubt the integrity of that little tent.

First up- Major kudos for selling it with a stuff sack big enough to get the tent back in!! A first of the many tents I’ve bought.
I think I could set this tent up with cold hands, in the dark. That a lot to say right there.
It’s the perfect size for one camper 5×7. Sure it’ll fit two, but it’s great, AND I can sit up fully in it (I can’t in my one man tent)
Very well made with reinforcements at every seam and corner. One piece poles so you can lose a piece. The double wishbone design means I don’t have to keep the poles crossed with one hand, while secure the corners with the other. The corners of all three layers (It comes with a footprint) have aluminum stays with big finger loops. Easy, and durable. Props keep the vents open.
A quality package that lives up to it’s own advertising.
