I am not a lover of exercise in general, but I force myself to do at least a certain number of different types of exercise to maintain a good form and health as I get older. I’m in my late 30s now and went from slim to slightly chubby in the last few years, so I’ve been working on getting slimmer once again. One of the ways I trick myself into doing exercise is by setting up my laptop in front of my home treadmill and playing video games or watching shows while walking. It passes the time and I can burn a surprising number of calories that way. As I began to lose some of my extra weight, I decided it would be advantageous to add some weight to my ankles with these. They’re comfortable and add some noticeable resistance without chafing or otherwise being unpleasant to use. I put them on my ankles and start walking, usually for an hour to an hour and a half. My wife has also used them for some types of more vigorous exercise, and she says they’re also comfortable for her to use. At $22 for the 8lb set, they’re a good value compared with other brands, and you get a known brand New Balance.

They fit they are good to use. The only thing is they keep coming apart at the velcro part of the weight other than that they work fine.

New Balance makes some great products when it comes to sports gear. These are pretty straight forward, and hard to mess up, as they are ankle weights. But not ALL ankle weights are created equal. The concept is the same, but it does matter which you buy.
I can tell that the quality is really good, vs. many other brands that I’ve tried of like products. Every couple of years I find myself buying a new pair of these kinds of weights, whether one gets lost, I’m sizing up in weight, the strap breaks, or what have you. These are my heaviest to date… an 8 lb. pair.
I didn’t see any directions included, but I didn’t need them. It’s pretty straight forward if you’re at all used to ankle weights, and if not, you’ll still likely be able to figure it out. They are a one size fits all product, but my ankles are pretty skinny, and so if I were to jog, jump, etc. they will slide up and down a bit and chaff my skin a bit. I guess they aren’t geared towards very thin ankles.
I am 5’6’’ tall about between 126-128 lbs. I don’t have large calves and ankles, or you may be able to jog, run and jump without any literal product moving up and down, chaffing issues, as 4 lbs. per foot is more than you realize. Believe me that!
I’ve had all the other weights beneath these, and I wanted a real leg workout. Up the anti, if you will. This is it!! I do recommend that if you aren’t used to working out much, or if you haven’t used lesser ankle weights first, start with a lower weight pair. Don’t ever just jump into a pair of this size, you don’t want to overwhelm yourself or your muscles and joints. But I definitely feel these just walking around the house and stuff.
They are just mildly uncomfortable during certain exercises because of their weight, and the fact that they fit a bit loosely on me. A power walk is the extent of what these can be used for on my sized legs, as they slide a bit up and down even doing that. I tried long, thick socks, and this helped quite a bit. Others in my shoes, I recommend you try the same to avoid soreness and chaffed skin.
All in all, you will feel these and tone your legs up, in a whole. No doubt about it. Even my glutes get a wee bit of the action. Doing certain exercises, even much more so, though it’s hard with this particularly heavy pair for what I’m used to doing with a lesser weight. Just don’t overdo it too much, too fast.
I’ve had all brands of ankle weights over the decades. I like New Balance quality. I’ve had cheaper made ones, and ones around the same price. I think many at this weight that are very cheaply priced will not survive too long. I don’t think I’ve seen 4 lbs. each (8 total) in cheap brands like at 5 below etc. they may not go up that high.. not 100%, but these are my heaviest to date, and I’ll never need more 😆.
I think if it’s an off brand you may have some quality issues along the line with heavier weight, most especially. You really need strong seams and quality material, which these seem to have. They’ve met my expectations in every area but fit. I really wish they were a wee bit tighter around my leg, so there was no shifting. This would be more of an issue if they were less weight, and I was able to do more ‘crazy’ things with them. I can still get plenty of use from these. I don’t need to do a ton to feel the burn.
3.9 stars, rounded up to 4, as 4 stars means meeting my expectations, and this hits all of the check boxes, but wish it had a little more in the way of a more adjustable fit. For most, I think you’ll be fine. Everything else has been perfect!
Be careful, and tone up! Seems far, but summer is always just around the corner. Work off that turkey, too, 😂 . Thanks New Balance.

I hope that my review has been helpful for you :).

Either it fits or it doesn’t. The strap does not allow for ANY adjustment.

I loved finding a set of these again. Mom had a set when I was younger that I used to use.
I used them for a couple days, then had to quit. Not due to the weights just because it happened to be the week I dropped a 50lbs chair on my foot. Could not wear them after that.
Hoping to get back to it soon. Since I noticed in that couple days I could already feel the way the leg muscles were working. I requested these due to the fact that since I was sick my legs had felt weakened. Even after a month and a half. Figured using the weights while doing regular chores around the house. Planning to also do mild workouts with them on, know from experience that can really help build the leg muscles up quickly.
They fit fairly well but are a little rough the way they sat against my feet. I may have to remember to wear shoes with them. Or maybe make some kind of padding. To stick under them on top of my feet, since I seldom wear shoes around the house. I would recommend these ankle weights.

I bought a pair of 4 lb weights; one of them is 3.94 lb (1787g), and the second is 3.79 lb (1720g). The difference in weight is not significant enough to be felt, but the difference in size is notable, especially for those with narrow ankles. The lighter one also has less volume, and one of the sections is noticeably smaller, causing it to dangle more on the leg. The outer fabric is quite thin; after a week of regular use, it started to stretch a little.
When running, the Velcro comes unfastened due to the significant weight of the product. However, it holds well on the ankles while simply walking without any jumping. It’s also good to use as weights for exercise.
One of the advantages is that despite the considerable weight, it does not rub the skin. This was a big problem for me with my previous weights, where the clasps would scratch my skin a lot when I ran. The Velcro on these weights doesn’t touch your ankle, and the inner fabric is soft enough to prevent chafing even when your skin is wet. In this aspect, these are the best I have found in this price range.”

For me was going to be perfect is the Velcro to close was more wide.
