I WAS GIVEN A NOOK A WHILE BACK, A NEW ONE. RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, I STARTED HAVE PROBLEMS. THE BATTERY STARTED LOOSING POWER AFTER A DAY. THEN I STARTED HAVING TO REBOOT EVERY TIME I WANTED TO TURN IT ON. NOW THE NOOK PEOPLE SAY THEY CANNOT HELP ME AS THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I DO NOT ARGUE WITH THAT. I DO THINK THAT THE NOOK SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN THE WARRANTY. I HAVE NOT DROPPED IT OR DAMAGED IT IN ANY WAY.

I purchased the nook for my son. Then I find out that it is not possible to even read the free books from Barnes and Noble unless you create a B&N account and secure it with a credit card. This means that Barnes and Noble will save you card information online. With on push of a button you can order books yes, however ebooks are also not refundable. This is the hands of my child is not a good idea. I tried to secure the account with BN gift cards to no avail. It does not matter if you have money saved to the account. I could not buy the books. The nook is going back.

I received my nook as a Christmas gift. Hardware wise I had no issues. It was very enjoyable to use and I liked it alot. The problem that I had came with the billing for books. I was charged multiple times for the same purchases from Barnes and Noble. I spent over 3 hours on the phone going through computer menues and getting no real live person to help. I sent multiple e-mails regarding the situation. No response except to get an automated response that they received my email but the volume is very high and they will get back to me soon. That was 2 weeks ago. Total cost to me has been well over the cost of the nook itself. Worst present EVER!!!

I purchased the nook as a X-mas gift for myself. It lasted a total of ONE month before it broke down. I called the 800 number & was conected to someone in India. I was told this problem is common.
But on the bright side, i would get a replacement in 3-5 days. 26 days later & about that many phone calls later- NOTHING. I am still waiting for a replacement. OH & did i mention they required another credit card just for this, just in case i don’t return the broken nook when i recieve my replacement.
Meanwhile, the books i ordered on the nook prior to it breaking down, are not at my disposal. It was a mistake to buy the nook. I’ll be sticking to good old fashioned books.

I am wondering if the price $399 was mis-typed, as it sells everywhere for $149 or $199. Or is it a trick to sweep visitors towards kindle?
Anyways,to answer the credit card question in general:
Use the exhausted rebate/gift cards that has master or visa logo. I just love give a jab back to these forceful merchants and tell “Go try to charge me, all you get is few coppers”.
